what's the easiest way to figure out the 11 month/7 month window? Do you just count back 11 months from your departure date? (meaning if the departure date is (for example) 10/1 do you say the 11 month window would be 11/1? Or is it a certain number of days???? Thanks in advance!

Simply an outstanding question!
I've been making ressies daily at the 11 month mark for years, and still don't know! :rotfl:

I never did understand how weekends, 28/29/30/31 day months, holidays ect... played into the picture.

At times when I was calling day by day, MS said "well, you can book several days today"... And I said "Okay then, let's book 'em!" (Never knowing exactly why we could book multiple days.) :teeth:

The Easiest is to download my DVC-Planner program. :cheer2:

Then just click on the calendar to define your vacation, and then select a vacation report. It will show you 11-month windows, 7-month windows, and even 11-month or 7-month day by day windows. :teacher:

It adjusts for Holidays, Weekends, and knows how to handle the 28/29/30/31 number for the months. :wizard:

But if you want to do it the hard  way, then:
  • Go back 11 or 7 months to the Check-Out date.
  • If your 11/7 month date falls on a holiday or weekend, make it later until you get to a non-holiday, weekday date.
  • If your checkout date is in a month with more dates than the 11/7 month reservation date and your checkout date falls on one of those dates, then you make the reservation on the last day of the month at the 11/7 month window. EXAMPLE: You are making a vacation reservation with a checkout date of January 30th. 11-months earlier is February 30th, but that's a non existant date. So you may call on Feb 28th instead (or Feb 29th in leap years)

I think it's easiest to simply realize it's the DATE of checkout for the day/stay in question. For 11 months, it's just the next month after the stay. Thus a check in for 28 Jan and check out on 29 Jan, you could call on 29 Feb. It takes a slight countdown for 7 month ressies.

That's assuming it is leap year. On non-leap years, they can't make that ressie until March 1st. I know, because I tried.

I want to make a ringing endorsement for Caskbill's program!!!! I love it. I can plan and print out the vacation plan and call day by day and know exactly which days I can book. It is empowering! This is the best DVC tool that I have!

As you count the window from the check out day can this work out not to your advantage if you are staying for a longer period such as two weeks?

Confused??

Susan

So you can book 11 months ahead of your check out date for the whole trip or go day by day 11 months ahead from that day you are reserving. Is this correct?? Wasn't sure about the day by day way because in the handbook it just says 11 months before your check out date. Thanks for the info. As you can see I'm new to all this. My first trip home is in February at SSR.

You make it on Feb 28th. That's what Disney DVC has published in their Member Guidelines.

"Member Guidelines for Disney Vacation Club Update: August 1999" Sorry I grabbed an old one, but it was handy.

The "corresponding date" is the date of check out for the desired reservation; if check out is to occur on June 25th, then the corresponding date is the 25th. If there are no dates that correspond directly to the reservation check out date, then the last day of the month is when reservations may be requested. For example, a Member who wishes to check out on January 31, 1998 may request that reservation on February 28, 1997.
In 2001 when I was creating the DVC-Planner Excel spreadsheet (the prelude to the DVC-Planner program), I actually verified with Disney that that's the way it works.

To my knowledge this has never been changed and I've never seen anything to the contrary.

If you get a CM who says you have to wait, I'd ask for a different CM.
