Today, at 8:34am ET I tried to book a standard studio at the Riviera for May 1, only to find I am too late. Had to waitlist. This is a Thursday that is booked up. I want Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I looked at April, every Thursday but one is booked up. Same with March. This is for both Tower Studio ( which I don’t want) and Standard studio (which I want). What is the deal with Thursday? I’ve never have had this before. I’ve always been to book what I want at 11 months even if o am an hour or two into the exact booking date. So frustrating.

Because the points went down for May a few years ago, it has become a popular month and SV studios go really fast one.

I csn not answer about the Thursday situation. Sometimes, it’s just odd… UY maybe it just that you have a lot of check ins on Thursday but not many check outs.
I have been shut out a few times for thr SV studio at RiV and now a,ways book right at 8 am.

Kicking myself for not getting in right at 8am. I was on at 7:30am, then got distracted with my dogs and before I knew it after 8am. Just 34 minutes later (8:34am) I was out of luck getting SV.

Standard studios are super popular there. It’s also possible that people booking trips starting earlier in the week blocked all or nearly all of the rooms.

Keep checking. If people are walking dates, they’ll drop may 1 in the next week. Also DVC just declared more rooms, which when they load them may open up some additional availability.

May 1 marks the shift to a travel period which requires less points per night. More units were just declared into Riviera which mean more dvc units may become available to rent. Keep checking as you might find availability to snag before the wait list runs.

I suspect a mix of commercial renters with computer scripts to grab immediate availability. But there are some adjustments with walking.

This will be a resale buyers nightmare in the future if they bought points to stay specifically in studios at RIV. They are going to be the most fit/heathy DVC owners we have with all the walking/stalking they are going to have to do to get the reservations they want.

It is only SV that have the issue of being booked at 11 months right at 8 am....the PV won't be a problem.. So, resale buyers will not get shut out of the resort with their points, even for studios.

Tower and SV rooms are the ones that are and will remain tough, and that is why anyone who wants a chance at those will have to own at RIV. Luckily, we book the larger rooms, most of the time, but also have had great success with SV rooms in the past...though, early Dec has been very tough and had to adjust dates, stalk, and waitlist to end up with them.

A fun, surprising fact. The villas coded as standard face north and the higher floors offer fantastic views of the fireworks over World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT. The higher the floor the better, East or West Tower. A rare occasion where the standard view is preferable to the preferred view. If you know, you know :D

That and the lower points are exactly why it's so hard to get standard view and tower studios during lower points times at Riviera.

Wondering how far back walkers start walking. We did it for two weeks for our reservation in June. That was for BWV std.

We aren't going next June but playing with the idea of Xmas week. Wondering when we should start looking into booking (in December 2025? January 2026?)

The earliest you can possibly start would be my recommendation

What are the hardest rooms to get? By rank.

I’m assuming the LA studios are harder than all DW options.

1. AKL value
2. Bwv std
??

You want Xmas week? Then yeah, I would start walking as soon as possible since you are going to be competing with not only everyone else who wants to go Xmas week but also with those who are booking to rent out that high demand week too.
Ok. Then I guess I start this morning. We are skipping our annual 2 wk June vacation next year, but conceding to a possible Xmas holiday getaway.

My older one is entering high school and gone are the days of pulling kids out of school for a week. December 2025 seems like a long way away, 18 months from now!!!

I don’t know if BWV standard is in the top 5. The 1 bedrooms somewhat routinely make it to 7 months and the studios you can frequently pick up a 2-3 day vacation at 7 months if you’re flexible on dates.

AKV Club has gotta be #1 followed by AKV Value.

VGC studios are hard but not harder than those. BLT standard studios are up there too as are Aulani hotel rooms.

I was on before 8 AM and 11 months from today was already booked. I hope you can get a walk started. Today just wasn't the day to do it.

Yes, but as you noted above, we’re “only” a little more than FIVE months from when Christmas week will be at the 11 month window.

PS before you start, make sure you’ll have the points you need when you need them - you can’t walk across your UY, for instance, and if you have to borrow points during your walk they’ll be stuck in the UY of the reservation you borrow them for.
