How was Vegas Greg?

It was allot of fun....didn't want to come home yet.

It was probably a good thing we came home when we did because I was getting fat off the all you can eat buffets!!

Boy that was about the longest 5 1/2 days of my life, No internet

Jaime, I'm glad DD is getting help now and will be back to normal in no time.
will keep her in our prayers through all of this, it can be very scary and stressful for little kids, just like parents.

Been in the upper 90's here, 98 yesterday

we did go up in the moutains for a bit to a creek and hiked a trail before it got hot. The dogs loved it.

Yep, made it back from Vegas about 6 hours ago!

My gambling budget was only $5 and I lost .75 cents, but got comped 4 free buffet meals at Planet Hollywood, so I figure the casino and I are even?!

We're heading out to take the kids to dinner.

Dawn,
it was sure a surprize to hear your voice, sorry I had to cut our conversation so short but greg and the sales lady were just standing there waiting for me.
I almost never get phone calls anymore, just from mom and maybe my daughter.

we looked at 6 5th wheels but didnt see something we really wanted just yet.
We also want to look at some regular trailers with slide outs too. some of those have more outside storage than a 5th wheel does.

Now that we have internet again we can look for more ads for them.We love our RV but with gas prices it would cost a fortune to drive both vehicles back to florida and it would cost a small fortune to fix up the RV so it could tow the heavy truck.

I will let you know what we find, when we find something, hopefully it will be soon.

Ok, I shouldnt tell this story because I know one of the men is going to make fun of me, but last night I was up until 1:30 and i wasnt having fun



It was 98 outside and it wasnt cooling off much so I decided to stay up and watch some TV on the couch and I opened all the windows to relax. Minnie was in the chair next to the couch. Now across from here is a small table with 3 shelves on it and I usually keep a drink on the top shelf and some candies and the other shelves have our printer and laptops.

Minnie kept looking at those shelves in the dark and she was just quivering and her eyes and ears were pointed and intense. I thought the blinking lights fromthe computers must of been bothering her.
she started a deep low growl, so I sat up and took my puzzle book from the shelf and covered the lights with it, thinking that would solve the problem.

Then i turned off the lights again, sat down to watch some TV and Minnie continued to have her nose twitch like crazy and her ears were back and she was crouched in the attack position at our computers. By now she had woke pixie up and she joined in the starring, but when Minnie started the low growl, Pixie ran for the bedroom and jumped up by Greg while he slept. COWARD!!

Minnie lunged at the computers, so I thought this is silly, so i turned on the lights and running around the top of the table was a huge bug. He looked like a cockroach with a hard brown shell. He was about 3 inches long, as wide as my thumb, big bulging eyes and antennas about 2 inches long.
That was NOT what i had expected!!!

And to think I had just had my hand there to move the puzzle book. I decided to throw away the drink and candy

Minnie went crazy, so after I calmed myself down and her I knew there was NO way on this planet i was going to bed with that monster running around.

Minnie and i spent the next 90 minutes trying to kill it and lure it out so we could get it, of course it like to come out in the dark, and I cant see it then. I got the flashlight out which helped. I stood bravely behind minnie so she could have the privledge of killing the intruder, but he was too quick and tricky.

so I had my steak knife in hand and after much hard work and jumping onto chairs I managed to get him on the inside steps of the RV. there is an outlet on the bottom step with a small metal bar attaching it and he was under that.
I started to stab at him but then I knew I would have to clean up the knife so I bravely opened up the door and kept poking at him with my ink pen as minnie bravely growled and barked. I flipped him out, minnie lunged and he ran up the wall. I grabbed a DVD laying close by and hit him down to the floor and out the door. I quickly closed the door.

I kept telling minnie Good girl because if she hadnt warned me, that monster could of run across my legs or feet which means I would of screamed loud enough to wake up the entire park

after a little more than 90 minutes I went to bed feeling safe my pup wouldnt let any more crtters near the bedroom. She sat proudly by the door watching for him until about 5 a.m. when she finally went to sleep.

where was Greg you ask, snoring away, never hear her bark or growl, didnt hear me slam the door, didnt feel pixie jump onto the bed and snuggle by him??

next time I am waking him up. I hate BIG bugs, i would rather face a snake than a huge cockroach type bug!!

Glad you are back. You say you would rather face a snake, but could you have really tried to run a snake out the door???????

In Florida i had many run ins with snakes, scorpions and lizards trying to or actully getting in my house.
Most snakes will run the other way with a loud clap of the hands, just need to have their escape route paid out for them before you scare them.

I wont mess with rattle snakes, just the bull snakes or gartners snakes which do get 6 or 8 feet in florida.

The news could have been better...she has a moderately sized arachnoid cyst within the right temporal lobe fossa...and they think it hemorrhage a little causing the headaches. Basically she has a cyst on the right side of her brain.

We will see a specialist early next week to talk about what can be done about it.

At least we found out now so we can figure out how to fix it and prevent anymore hemorrhaging...

At least now you know what you're dealing with, although I doubt this is the news you ante to hear. It has been scary for you, I can not imagine the anxiety you had over the weekend. Our thuoghts and prayers are with you.

Welcome back Kathy...wow that was a very interesting story...I love how men can sleep through anything

Talking to my brother last night and he wants to get married on a cruise in spring 2010. Not sure what this will me for our vacation plan in 2009..I guess I will know more this fall...right now he is browsing cruise lines and likes RCCL and Princess but he hasn't even looked at Disney His first reaction was Diney isn't for weddings or adults So now I need to find lots of info to show him the difference! I think I would have trouble with going to port canveral and not getting on a Diney ship...especially my girls...he will have a almost 2 yearold by that time who would also enjoy Disney I'm sure!

Good morning everyone,

WOW, I beat Dawn this morning??

well we are suppose to be a bit cooler today, around 85 I prefer 75.

Not much happening here, just waiting day to day to see how long Gregs job lasts.
The construction company has 16 new jobs but until they go throgh ppermitting and a few more things they cant be started, best case scenario is 6 weeks away to start them
He is still working but the actual carpenters have been laid off got 3 weeks now. He has enough work for another week and a ahlf unless soemthing else comes through.
So today he is starting an intensive job search for here and Florida.

Pixie took my chair this morning and doesnt look like she is moving off it for awhile she is so big she hangs off both sides, it looks silly. Minnie has the recliner (Greg's chair) and she is snoring away, so I guess it is the couch for me this morning which is ok, but the other chairs are better for being on the computer. I know I can snap my fingers and she will move but they look so cute sleeping there I dont have the heart to move them.

well I have about 30 pages on the 08 to catch up on, will check back later, I have a few pictures of the area we hiked in on saturday I will post later.
