OMG...it just turned pitch black outside and there are severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings all throughout the area. The weathermen are saying there are winds in excess of 100 mph...yes 100!!...about 20 miles south of us. Woo and Mutt, be careful because it's heading east. I hope you aren't as far south as these storms.

I bet that's the same storms that was south of us last night. I was watching it on tv all night. Looked nasty.

I don't remember our waiters names any more... but it was on only a 3 day cruise so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

I'm sure you bond a little more on a 7 day.

if you get the two rounds of storms we had today. Strong winds, something like 3 inches of rain in a half hour, thunder and lightening and some possible tornado sightings. First thing this morning and then again around 3 p.m. It was ugly - and it looks like more are on the way. Disney, take me away.....

Our tornado warning siren went off three times in the last hour but I guess the worst of it hit a few miles southeast of where I am. Guido and I took to the basement for awhile just to be sure. I dont really give a hoot about me, but dont go whuppin' on my puppy dog---thats against the rules! Anyways...the tornado warnings have passed and things are clearing up a little. Maybe enough to finish our walk---we both were halfway into the park when the sky opened up. Smells like wet dog in here...just not sure if its me or him. Sharon, I hope you got through unscathed, bad enough we have to worry about lake effect snow!

Hope everyone is safe. About the time I stopped posting today, a storm came out of nowhere. Wind picked up, parking lot flooded because it rained so much so quickly, and I have never seen lightning like that!!!!!!!!!Looked at the radar and there seemed to be six isolated systems and one just happened to be hanging over my head Luckily, my son didn't get any of it at Farm Camp and he continued to chase chickens (not girls Kathy )

On a brighter note: here is the Sangria recipe. Even if you've tried Sangria at a restaurant and didn't love it, you should try this. It's much lighter......
If you ever serve it at a party or you're particuarly thirsty feel free to double it!!!!!!!!!

1.5L of Lambrusco (don't be a wine snob, cheap works good for this)
1 c of Apricot Brandy (can substitute Peach Schnapps)
1 c of Triple Sec
1 can of frozen lemonade
3/4 c of OJ
1/2 c of lemon juice
1/2c of Apricot Nectar (or peach) **Not completely necessary
Sprite

**Mix it together in a pitcher, in a punch bowl, or one VERY LARGE glass
**Soak some fruit (pineapple, grapes, marachino cherries, etc) in the brandy or schnapps overnight and garnish when serving (or enjoy a la carte)
**Sit back, pretend your on Deck 9 with friends (old AND NEW), when you start to feel like you're walking in high heels with 20ft waves crashing against the ship, STOP

Sounds like you guys had some close ones today...hope you are all safe and dry. We have hurricanes which I will take over tornadoes any day. I grew up with tornadoes in TN, so I don't envy you.

Most recent storms were the weakest of the day. The mid day one was awful. Actually ripped the sides of a bunch of buildings, lots of trees down in Schenley Park (which is Pittsburgh's equivalent of central Park), ripped some holes and broke windows in the Carnegie Science Center on the river - and people said they saw a tornado on the river. Areas near the river - a couple of neighborhoods that got hit bad a few years ago with remnants of Hurricane Ivan - got pounded today. Flooded homes, cars floating down the street, lots of damage. One of the worst days of storms I can remember. Nothing here in my suburban area - just some branches down on the road outside our neighborhood.


Hope those of you in Eastern PA have been able to steer clear of it all.

Hi all ... thanks for the good wishes. The worst of the storms went south of us, and a few tornadoes did pop up along the way. My drive home was pretty uneventful, just a few showers. But Sharon was right ... it was dark as night for a while!

We are maybe 45 minutes from Hiram. Our niece from Jersey goes there, and this will be her sophomore year. Haven't really been there lately, but I can pretty much guarantee that it's about the same as when you were there ... nothing to do EVER (that's what my niece says). Oh, and they did finally install a stop light in the center of town.

Judy, I'm not a rum or mint drinker either. That is ... UNTIL I had my first Mojito (thank you Bill & Cheri!).
