11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

We're responsible for insuring that ibouncetoo's sister arrives safely at her hotel with minimum drama.

I can't imagine being responsible for the combination of Sukie and Dianne while traveling. You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!

That reminds me, I'd better double check that I made the transportation reservation to get us all BACK to the airport after the cruise!

.

Hello everyone,

Stopping by to say hello. I'm looking forward to be on this cruise - my 2nd Disney cruise so far after having sailed on the Magic's Western Caribbean Double Dip back in November 2009.

I'll travel together with my Dad. As you can see, I have a long way to fly since I'm one of the very few die-hard WDW & DCL fans living in Switzerland. My trip starts on November 2nd with a 10+ hours non-stop flight from Zurich to Miami. After attending yet another home game of my beloved Florida Panthers, I'll spend 2 nights at Disney's Vero Beach Resort just before the cruise. After the cruise, I continue my vacation - it was Dad's wish to drive all the way through the country over to Southern California. We will pick up a good friend of us there and then spend 4 nights in a 2 Bedroom Suite at the Disneyland Hotel before flying home from LAX to Zurich, Switzerland on November 20.

No WDW visit this year, I have been there 2009 and 2010, next WDW vacation is scheduled for November 2012.

Our staterooms will be 7662 and 7666 - you will be able to tell from the decorations which one is mine. Still need to complete them. While my Dad is not a Disney fan, he has to travel with me because of my health issues. One of them is, that I'm tube-fed, and there can be certain situations where I need a little help. You can also imagine that I have to travel with a lot of baggage because of this, four 50 lbs suitcases to be exactly. But other than this, I'm doing fine, we are quite experienced travelers and I was always able to enjoy my trips.

We probably won't attend any of the dinners for obvious reasons and Dad is not a big eater anyways, so we should be fine with the other options. Also have not scheduled any excursions. 4 nights isn't that much and I want to be able to enjoy the Dream as long as I can. 2 years ago, I went to Rum Point Beach on Grand Cayman, also did a dolphin encounter at Dolphin Discovery in Cozumel. Loved it.

On Castaway Cay, we'll probably spend the day at Serenity Bay. Never been back there 2 years ago. I try my luck getting a cabana from right at the minute the booking window is open until today, but so far I have not been able to get one. Maybe I'll try to get on the waitlist once onboard. And if I don't get one, I'll have fun anyways. I like to take a dip in the ocean and relaxing on the beach, since we have neither beaches or oceans in my country. Plus, it's already in the 40's and 50's here, so I look forward to enjoy some nicer and warmer weather over there.

My very favorite Disney movies are The Lion King and The Jungle Book and from what I was able to tell from recent Navigators, there's a good chance they show at least one of them on the ship, specially now with the re-release of TLK. Already ordered my Blu-Ray.

Well, I look forward to meet some of you guys. If you see me on the ship, please feel free to say hi! For those who don't know me yet: Here is a thread featuring many photos of me and my biggest Disney buddy during what I call my most magical moments so far on a Disney trip.

OK, just less than a month to go and I'm almost ready. Online Check-In completed, everything printed out, now have to finish my door magnets.

Have a great weekend everybody - can't wait for the cruise to start!

!!! Willkommen * Bienvenue * Welcome !!!!

That sounds like qute a trip! Driving all the way cross country. I did that once many years ago, from NYC to southern California then up to San Francisco and back to NY via a northern route.

This will be our first time on the Dream too. Welcome again!

Welcome!! Your videos were great! thanks for sharing :)

your trip across the US sounds fantastic! someday we want to do that too.

hope you and your dad enjoy every minute of your trip!

see you on the ship soon :goodvibes

RETO! Glad you stopped by! Definately get on the waiting list for a Cabana. You never know, people's plans change all the time.

Well, I didn't do my shopping last weekend, so I must take care of that today. Also plan to check out my 'sundries' bag and make sure all the sunscreen, medication, Bonine etc. in there has not expired. (and find those pesky hooks for my over-the-door shoe holder)

Have a great weekend everybody!

.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Btw, Reto is my real first name, so you know.

Willkommen

Danke!;) As you can see, I live in the German-speaking part of Switzerland.

Yes, it's going to be a long ride, but interesting ride from East to West. I have not planned an exact route, but most likely, we'll hit New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, El Paso and Phoenix on our way to L.A. Have to make it in 6 nights, because I booked my DLH suite for Nov. 16-20. Should be doable. My Dad works as a tour bus driver carrying many American tourists around here, so he's familiar with long drives and doesn't mind it at all.

I think I really try to get myself on the waiting list for a cabana. Will visit the shore excursions desk right after boarding and see, if there's anything available.

Door decorations are done and printed now. I also bring a t-shirt for the characters to sign. Meeting the characters is one of my favorite things to do in the parks and on the cruises. Oh, and I have to see "Believe" with my dear freind Baloo in it.:goodvibes Other than this, I have not scheduled anything else. Probably will stay on the ship in Nassau. I plan to be on the Fantasy in November 2012, so this time, I want as much time as possible to explore the ship and experience for myself, how it differs from the Magic.

Also plan to check out my 'sundries' bag and make sure all the sunscreen, medication, Bonine etc. in there has not expired.

Great reminder, have to do that as well! Always buy my sunscreen on the first day after I arrive in the U.S. Way cheaper and a larger selection. The sun here is not really strong compared to Florida. And now that winter slowly moves in, most of the sunscreen stuff has disappeared from the shelves.

25 days until my departure!

WELCOME RETO! We're Andrea & Greg from Virginia. This will be our fifth DCL cruise.

We've always wanted to visit Switzerland so we'll have to ask your father for advice.

When our son (he's 21 now) was little, he watched 'The Jungle Book' over and over and over and over... He LOVED it and knew every word of it. He's in his forth year of university but still a Disney 'kid'. We'll be happy to meet another Jungle Book fan.

Yes, it's a privilege to live here, beautiful nature. I live close to the Alps and can see the snow on the mountains. My Dad is the right one if you want to know where to go and what to visit due to his job. Had friends from Southern California here a month ago and showed them my country - they were very impressed. When you're about to visit Switzerland, be sure to drop me a line before. A must-do while here is to visit the city of Lucerne, which is known worldwide for the location on the lake, the old town and the proximity to the mountains. I live just 5 miles from Downtown Lucerne, so a meet would be easy.

And so will I! That movie is underrated over in the U.S. Here, it is still one of the most popular movies and most kids know the lyrics to "Bare Necessities", the German version of it of course. It was the same with me: I remember my parents brought me The Jungle Book back in the 90's when it was re-released on VHS. I found that so funny with all the singing and dancing animals, the songs were stuck in my head and I always wanted to have a friend like Baloo on my side. Today, I enjoy the great values Baloo teaches to Mowgli and how the strong friendship between those two is portrayed. It was Walt's final movie and you feel he was involved. The Jungle Book remains my favorite after all these years and if you checked out the link I posted above, you can imagine how I felt meeting my bear friend.

Hope to see you on the ship - I'm sure we'll have fun together!

I've been to Switerland several times and spent a few weeks there visting friends. I've also been been to Lucerne. It's a very nice city and a very beautiful country.

I've spent more time in the French speaking part of the country. Luckily I can speak basic coversational French, at least enough to make conversation at parties in Paris!

My German is very, very basic. I understand it much better than I can speak it. Fortunatelly in Switzerland most everyone's English is excellent.

I have a photo of me on a mountainside in the Swiss Alps doing my impression of the "Sound of Music" (yes I know that was supposed to be the Austrian Alps and not Swiss)m though I didn't think it would be polite to rip down my friend's curtains to make an outfit.

It's coming up so quickly - very exciting. It's an unusual fall day today in Oklahoma - 80 degrees and rainy/overcast. So I am dis'ing and watching the first Harry Potter with my DS. Hubby had to fly today after we watched our Sooners beat Texas! Yay! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

What is your favorite Disney/Pixar/Muppets Characters ?[/COLOR]

Baloo obviously is my very favorite since early childhood. I also love Simba, Mufasa, Mickey of course and like with you, Tigger ranks also high among my faves. Whenever I meet him, I ask him for bouncing lessons. Usually results in some fun interactions and photos.

Reto, I'd love to talk to your dad about Switzerland, IF he won't mind talking business on vacation...

Your Baloo pictures are FABULOUS; you're lucky to have your dad as such a great photographer! Walt had an amazing gift to take classic stories and make the messages entertaining. My husband's favorite Disney movie is Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea.

Don't forget to come to our DIS meet on the first day of the cruise!

I love Tigger for his optimism (Motto: Be a Tigger not an Eyeore), Baloo for his mentoring, Wall-E for his devotion, Mulan for girl-power and Mickey--because he's MICKEY.

Good week to everyone,

Andrea

Well, my user name is a pretty good clue as to my favorite! :tigger:

Also a big fan of Mickey (of course), favorite 'princess' is Aurora (classic) and Belle (modern), and without a doubt the best Disney Prince is Phillip...he sings, he dances, he's killer with a sword AND has a great horse!

Upon two different occasions, I danced with Balo and King Louie in the Disneyland parade, so I'm pretty tight with them too! ;)

.

UGH! Woke with a horrible cold today!

Get well soon!

I'd love to talk to your dad about Switzerland, IF he won't mind talking business on vacation...
Absolutely not - that's fine! He loves to give advice to other people.

Your Baloo pictures are FABULOUS; you're lucky to have your dad as such a great photographer!

Actually, the majority are Photopass pictures, Dad also took some, but not many. Some were even taken by other guests on my request.

Don't forget to come to our DIS meet on the first day of the cruise!

I think I'll be there, just can't drink or eat anything, since I rely 100% on tube feeding due to a birth defect. And that's all done overnight, so it doesn't interfere with any activities during the day. Is it still in the Vista Cafe at 3pm? That sounds good. I figured out from the muster station thread, that I most likely have to go to Evolution for the drill, which is on the same deck as the Vista Café. I can move my first Aquaduck ride to later that night, when everyone is at dinner.

Well, my user name is a pretty good clue as to my favorite! :tigger:

Good character choice!:thumbsup2

Upon two different occasions, I danced with Balo and King Louie

How fun! But that must have been some time ago, isn't it? Sadly, Baloo & King Louie don't appear anymore in the DLR parks. Baloo is sometimes at the Goofy's Kitchen character meal, but that's all AFAIK.

I always do that during the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! parade - lots of fun. If you search on YouTube for "Magical Moments with Baloo at Walt Disney World", you can see me in the video. Not that I claim to have any dancing skills, but it was cool anyways.:)

3 more weeks at work coming up - that will go by FAST.

and without a doubt the best Disney Prince is Phillip...he sings, he dances, he's killer with a sword AND has a great horse!

.

I beg to differ. The ONLY prince we know, from the context of the film, can actually cash the checks he's writing is Prince Naveen.
