11/06/11 Dream 4 Day

I noticed they started having Halloween stuff in the stores yesterday and I thought to myself, "It's not even Labor Day yet!" Then I thought, "Wait a minute, Halloween is just days before our cruise!"

I'll kick into gear in late September with a clothing survey. There really isn't anything to be done now until then.

All our 'newbie' cruisers get to check in on line soon! :thumbsup2

Spent about 30 minutes on the phone with my neice today, getting info on the kids and their needs and requirements. My oldest great neice, the fashionista, was sad to hear no formal night on this cruise. :) Wish I could be watching the planning video with them so I could tell them which things/shots are from the classic ships or longer cruises. All of them are good eaters and good sleepers and I told her that's mostly all I do on the cruise anyway! :lmao:

.

I didn't really think about formal nights... so w/ the b2b's, what type of clothing do we need for dinners? I have to try to pack as light as possible. DS and DD enjoyed formal nights on other cruises, but if I don't have to bring ds's and dh's suit, I definitely don't want to (remember, we're surprising them, so packing extras like that will be difficult). So just docker pants and golf shirts for dh and ds for all of both cruises?

We decided yesterday to book a quickie weekend trip to Las Vegas in Oct to use up our SWA credit. Our plan is to drive out to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon to do the Skywalk on one day and visit some relatives on the other. Wish me luck so I don't chicken out, high places aren't my favorite!

Halloween is our travel day of this trip so hurry up and get here.:lmao:

I think in the short cruises they have "dress up" night but not formal night. Unless you're doing Remy where a jacket and tie is required, I think what you're planning is fine.

We're packing (for the most part) light and doing laundry on the last night of the first cruise.

I came today to check in and Disboards says I hadn't logged in since February??? Seriously? I feel so out of it. I can't believe that I haven't been here in that long - how in the world did I go 6 months? I am back on the bandwagon and ready to talk DCL and the 11/6 cruise. I am so excited. Paid off the cruise and did online checkin, also got Palo's all set. This is a surprise for my kids and they have no clue. Up until now we have been able to keep quiet but now as it is getting closer and we actually have to make real plans for the trip, I am not sure how long we can keep this a secret.

So, I have caught up on reading the posts and Tammy - I will be emailing you about the FE. I definitely want to do it but want to ask my friend if she is interested as well. She doesn't do disboards, but she is rooming next door to me with her family and enjoyed the gift exchange we did last cruise she took with us (we just exchanged amongst our 20 people party). but this time just the two of our families - so I think the FE will be great.

Ok, so some questions now that I have read up:

Atlantis Water park - seriously - how much does this park cost if you do it on your own? I saw the Comfort Inn has a rate of $150 now, but the cancellation is 2 days ahead of arrival, which means if we never make it to port we are out of luck. So what does this cost to do it separately? I can't believe that DCL charges $169 per adult and $115 per child. CRAZY!!!

Where can I go to get ideas for FE?? Trip reports?? I have NO CLUE! I don't want to spend and arm and a leg, but definitely want to create something nice not cheap. LOL.

My only sadness on this trip is that it is only 4 nights. I am so used to the 7 night cruises, just not sure this will be long enough. To book a B2B is definitely not an option ($$$).

Oh, and I read that many of the folks here are from NoVA!!! We are too!!! I went to Herndon HS and now live in Fairfax with my family. Lots of us NoVA folks going to be on this ship. Too funny!

What have all of you heard about Remy's?? I initially had reservations there, but felt that $75 per person up charge was insane. I just can't imagine anywhere being worth that kind of premium and then an additional tip???

Tell me what you know, I would love to understand this price!!

Welcome back, Leslie. We've been in Reston over 20 years. One of my good friends went to Herndon HS...small world!

I went to Walmart looking for Halloween stuff for our FE bags and all I found was school suplies - hoping they put the halloween stuff out soon :cool1:

Welcome back Leslie - look forward to your email - we have a great group for the FE so far - would love to have you and your friend join us.

I'm ready to log onto the DisneyCruise website on Tuesday, is there any special time the online system opens up for the 75 day window?

Happy Birthday IAN, Jay and I both had birthdays this week as well.

You'll be able to book stuff for the cruise at midnight eastern.

You won't be able to do your online checking until about 3 or 4 am.

I am back to DIS excited about cruise, I am making my final payment today so I think I can get do my check in tomorrow right? I am a silver castaway but this cruise will bump me to gold.

We are all moved into Florida, Windermere and just minutes from WDW so we all got APs and have been going at least every other day. We moved in 2 weeks ago and love it here in Florida!

Hey GANG!! WAHOO.. Just finished check in and Port arrival time 11:00am-11:30 am :rotfl::banana::banana::banana:

Yipee!!! I checked in yesterday too and was still able to get the checkin time for 11 am. Kinda important since we are staying at the Residence Inn and their shuttle for DCL leaves at 10 am to the port.:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Tammy-heard from my friend today, so I will email you today!!! How many people do we have so far? My group will be 2 cabins, 8 people - 4 adults, 4 kids total. But I will email you all the details.

WOW! You're totally living my dream!!!! Can you tell me about your move, finding a house, your neighborhood, why you moved, jobs, how it is visiting WDW every other day, etc? I just want to live vicariously through you a little ;)

From what I understand, day passes on their own are very limited and very hard to get any information on.

I have read that in the past they were $110 per person adult rate, but that was a few years ago.

I was interested in the aquarium only and when I looked into that, I figured I would only save $20 for both of us by booking it on our own and am opting for the DCL excursion.

Honestly I think the cheapest way to do the water park is to book the Comfort Inn, but of course there is risk involved should there be any change in the itinerary.

I wonder if trip insurance would cover that expense? It just might. If you have bought independent trip insurance you might contact your insurance agent and ask. If you bought it through DCL it won't be covered.

I have Remy booked (on the 3-night portion of our back-to-back after this cruise).

The restaurant is upscale and is on the level of Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian.
