Hi there,
Just hoping some of you might have wisdom for what to bring to entertain my 10 month old on our flight from the UK next week...

I remember when ds1 was 18 months he spent ages just playing with the inseat entertainment control, and my cup of ice water... but I don't know what else we did, and ds2 is that much younger. He's not crawling yet, and is quite good at entertaining himself, but this is a long time.

He doesn't have a seat, but we have a sky cot for him, so we will be the front row of seats with a wall in front of us, so there should be room for him to play on the floor...

Hope you can all help
Thanks :goodvibes

We took DD at 9 months old so almost the same age.

I packed a few small toys for her to play with such as stacking cups, rattles etc and then some of the touchy feely books as she loved those. She could sit in the skycot and play with them.

I have found the flights actually go quite quickly as it broken up with meals and naps :goodvibes

From tips that I picked up from here I hid away/bought little novelty toys in the run up to our trip - equivalent to about one per hour - to entertain our DDs at 12/13 months. I tried to find things that were cheap and not precious in case they disappeared under the seats, and nothing which played tunes/made lots of noise! It was a few years ago but I think we had a small plastic slinky/spring, some plastic disney character figures, plastic linking rings and a 'puzzle' teether (shaped like a figure of eight with beads and different textures) amongst other things.

I added a couple of small (not heavy) favourite board books which doubled up as bedtime stories at the hotel and plenty of snacks.

And as I think you found out when you flew with ds1 it's easy to play those simple little repetitive games with just about anything - I think we got busy putting things in and out of plastic cups, under plastic cups, handing them back and forth between baby, mom and dad.....

I'm sure having the bulk head seats will help - we were given these once even though DD was just a little too old for the sky cot and it was less stressful not having to worry about people sitting in the row in front, and nice to not have them recline their seats onto you!

Good luck - fingers crossed for come good plane-induced naps too :thumbsup2

Thank you :-) I hadn't thought about how much naps and food would break things up, that will definitely help. He's pretty good at going to sleep, and last flight ds1 even lay down and had a sleep too. I remember with Ds1 we sent dh on board early to get us our seats sorted out and then we got on at the last minute to stop us having to wait around for ages before take off... I'm awful at waiting to get on though...

Yes small cheap things that won't be a problem if lost sound like a good plan. He likes emptying boxes (esp of tissues) so I might fill a box which we can empty out again and again...
