If you get there at park opening, you can usually find some good spaces where there is some shade, some covered pavallions, some umbrellas, some actual shade with trees. You have to grab them quickly, though. And you'll still get the full sun reflected on the white surface when you are playing around the park.

There are a few canopy type areas to sit under but with all that hiking up the mountain/waiting in line for slides in broad daylight the sun is sure to get to you, those paths aren't under cover and you're really exposed!
