Lowes has GE lightbulbs that charge when you use the light and you just switch it on in a power outage. It lasts quite a few hours and is immediate light.
Good idea. I also keep lights I bought on Amazon (Amerelle Emergency Lights) that plug into a wall outlet, that come on automatically if the power goes off. In an emergency (So Cal is both fire and earthquake prone) we can find the kids (and they us). The lights can just be removed from the outlet to become flashlights.
