106 Hours Without Power

Lowes has GE lightbulbs that charge when you use the light and you just switch it on in a power outage. It lasts quite a few hours and is immediate light.

Good idea. I also keep lights I bought on Amazon (Amerelle Emergency Lights) that plug into a wall outlet, that come on automatically if the power goes off. In an emergency (So Cal is both fire and earthquake prone) we can find the kids (and they us). The lights can just be removed from the outlet to become flashlights.

Sorry about your electricity. I thought you were going to say you lived up by El Dorado. A friend lives in Sheriden and his goes out all the time. I'm hoping PG&E starts redoing their systems as it is always their electricity being shut down during wind storms while ours is not (SMUD)

Ours goes out pretty frequently too. El Dorado County seems to be recuperating the worst. It has just been awful All 3 counties, Placer, El Dorado, and Nevada, have been hit by horrific fires, and now this. My husband was on a community county meeting with the powers that be to get some answers on how to get people help quicker. Way more questions and worries than answers available.

We live in central NH and have a whole house generator. Told DH that was the only way I would agree to move. When we were having it put in a neighbor commented that it was a waste of money because "we never lose power for more than a few hours." Less than two weeks later power went out due to an ice storm and was out for 3 days. We were the only ones in the neighborhood with heat/water (we're all on wells). Luckily we have lots of extra room and had all the neighbors camp out at our house.
