Holy moly, just checked my phone to see what it ended up at there in Anaheim today after that post That it was going to be 96 today and I was shocked to see it was 101! Wow, must be miserable. Drink lots of water and stay safe!

Of course, what I forgot to add was that a bad (or hot) day at DL is still better than any day at work!😊

We hit a heatwave in May a few years back. It was 105-106 all 5 days of our trip. We spent so. much. money. on drinks, but the park was empty. We just took everything at a really slow pace, and made sure to be in DL in the afternoons, because it seemed cooler than DCA with all the trees around.

We’ve been during a heatwave in September. It’s hard to get through for sure. You need lots of water, cooling towels, cooling fans, and A/C breaks. We were blessed with insanely low crowds, so I guess it worked out in the end.

101 c’mon that’s not hot….lol…even from AZ 101 in DL is harsh.
We survived 2019 when it was around 100 for our trips in April, June, July, and October. We caught a little break in Jan and Feb 2020 before sadly the heat didn’t matter. The pools were busy and hydration breaks were a must. Back then I didn’t notice much of a crowd break, but we took afternoon breaks with TS meals and/or the pool.

I was walking through Hollywood at DCA around 4pm, and I thought the asphalt was going to start boiling. But, honestly, the wind popped up often enough throughout the day that it (mostly) didn't seem as miserable as it could have been. The parks still felt packed, other than maybe a slight afternoon downturn. (I'll admit that I bailed for an hour after that moment at DCA.)

Even if it was technically warmer, it reminded me a lot of those 90+ degree days at WDW in July.

Coincidentally, it also reminded me why I generally don't go to WDW in July. :D

We were there Monday and Tuesday and the weather was great. We knew what was coming so we were glad to have been there early in the week. Living in Palm Springs our weather is heating up where it’s not unusual to hit over 120 with higher humidity in August. We either stay inside in the AC or the pool.

Ugh!! Temps that high in April is NOT something I remember from living in So Cal (born in LA, moved in '87)! I remember it being warm enough beg Mom to let us swim during Easter Break but not triple digits!

You know, I guess that's sort of an 'unspoken perk' of staying at the Grand in hot, hot weather. You're really close to the pools.

Someone mentioned reservations upthread and I do feel for those who were sort of 'forced' to go either because they didn't want to get a 'no show' on their MK or were non-locals with limited time.

We had an awesome morning in the park today. We road soarin, web slingers, guardians, toy story mania, the incredicoaster, racers, the monsters inc ride, and the rapids and were back in our hotel by 145. We also ate at several of the festival booths and DS got several drinks to try. We are going back to DL tonight for dinner and a couple of rides.

It was hot in the sun but not unbearable, and when we needed to cool down we either got a drink or went on a ride.

I know people complain about Genie+ but it worked great for us today!

We started the last day of our SoCal pass at Disneyland side on Friday and was prepared to be miserable, but even when it hit 100 it was actually not that bad. We did buy a few more extra drinks, stick to the shades when possible, and did more outdoor rides in the morning while it was cooler, but otherwise, it felt like any other day at Disneyland. We still had a great time.

It is a little unusual for April, but not unheard of. We have reaaaalllyyy strange weather here in SoCal! You can never plan on things being cool or hot or whatever, no matter the season or month. You just have to look at the weather forecast a week or so out, then check again a few days before.
So August ?
Historical temps show mid to high 80’s and 65 at night?

Is that reasonable?

Temps vary wildly depending on so many things because there are 'micro climates'. It may be high 70s along the coast, in the upper 80s/low 90s barely 15 air miles away in 'central' Anaheim, and yet triple digits 20 air miles away in the 'Inland Empire'.

If you're looking at 'historical' data, that's usually from SNA which is MUCH closer to the coast than DL. There's a coastal 'influence' to weather at DL, but not all the time.

August at DL is very changeable due to the coastal influence (cooling) and the desert influence (hot! and windy). It normally can be quite hot during the afternoon, but mornings are usually cool and it usually does cool down in the late afternoon. One good thing is that it's not humid, like at WDW.

I've seen a few 80 to 90+ degree Christmas Day's so it's not unheard of.

It's back to 80 degrees today (Saturday 4/9) and drops to 70's and 60's throughout this week. :)
