100th day

Ours was last Friday. Many of the kids glued their 100 items into the shape of 100 or 100 days. Some used stickers, macaroni, cereal,paperclips, pompoms, sequins, etc. We had one kid who nailed 100 tacks into a piece of wood. Another kid glued 100 pennies to styrofoam plates.

Our 100th Day is on Wednesday. Last year I brought in Froot Loops and the kids put 100 loops on a string and made a candy necklace. I don't want to do that this year though.

I like that idea with the 100 stickers. I have this insane amount of those little stickers so I can use some of them up that way. Maybe then can do the flower things, although the boys will maybe want to make 10 cars or 10 "crocodiols".

I was also thinking about doing 100 words - as in, 100 sight words, with each word written on a paper strip and then looping the strips together. I'd have each kid to like 5 words and together we'd have 100 as a class.

We took an old sweatshirt and glued on 100 little styrofoam shapes on it. It was cool and she was the only with an idea like that. The bag of shapes is in the craft dept. at WalMart.

I have no problem bringing in 100 things. I just don't like the displaying creatively. They are going to be displayed at our fun fair too. You know some will look awesome. My son's will look exactly like it is- a project done by a 6 year old boy. He'll then feel bad when he sees some of the others and say his is ugly. Of course when I try to give him suggestions, he doesn't want to take any of them

My DD5's kindergarten class has their 100th Day celebration next week. She's going to take in 100 buttons.

My son has to bring his 100 items in displayed creatively. Sorry, but I can't stand this type of project. He's in 1st grade and a lot of the time it looks like a parent has done the project for their child. Any ideas for how to display 100 of the same things creatively?

Hello!!! Another idea for the stickers- make a 100 out of tagboard or construction paper and cut the middle of the zeroes out. Have the kids decorate the 100 with 10 stickers, punch a hole in each side, wrap some yarn around it- GLASSES!! My students LOVE these.

Only the kindergarten kids do a 100th day of school project in my daughters school. When she did it we glued 100 googly eyes on a t shirt and she wrote 100's all over it with puffy paint and then wore it to school.
As far as what the school does we have a 100th days of school ice cream sundae party, each grade comes down and every kids gets an ice cream with whatever topings they want on it- they love it!

Our school only does it in Kindergarten as well. The 100 items had to fit in a ziploc bag. My DS took candy hearts. My DD took Disney trading cards (that's my girl).

Oooohhhh...that is a cool idea. I don't really have a lot of cardboard so maybe i can modify this and make sentence strip hats that they could put 100 stickers on.

This thread is perfect timing! Just this morning I was wondering what I could do for the 100th day. Now I have more ideas than I know what to do with!

And I only have construction paper in the big size in the following colors: yellow and purple, and tan and black.

One of our kindergarten teachers had a bunch of her students' collections on display in one of the cases in our front office. Some were cute! There was a chain of 100 paper clips (cute, she had it strung across the window), 100 erasers connected on yarn, 100 sea shells glued to poster board and divided into groups of 10, 100 cheerios, 100 brads, 100 gummi bears glued to cardboard- I had a favorite, though. Our mascot is the Colt, and one kid made a corral out of popsicle sticks. It looked like they may have had parent help, but it was also something a kid could have done....just stacks of sticks to make an octagon type shape, with a horse in the middle....that was definitely drawn by the kid.

When my older dd did it, she taped her items to a poster board in the shape of a 100. Her items were 100's. Yes, we typed "100" into Word, printed 100 of them, and cut them out to tape onto the poster board.

My kindergartener's is due next week, so I'm loving these ideas!

Our local school stopped it this year. So few children actually had attended 100 days . . . illnesses, being taken out for vacations etc. It was such a disappointment!

another idea is 100 thumb prints on a poster board with legs, arms and faces drawn on them. they are really cute and she made people and animals out of the thumb prints and had a fun time doing it.

My son's teacher has birthday party for their class puppet- in his favorite color. Everything will be that color that day- but no 100 items? we don't have to do that this year.
In the past with my other children it's been cheerios, m&ms, lego guys, you name it we've got 100 of them.

I'm still trying to decide if my DD had the ultimate genius of an idea or the ultimate lazy idea but for her 100th day she brought in a puzzle that had 100 pieces! I did make her count them and confirm that there were actually 100 pieces in there (although it was a new sealed puzzle). I am voting towards lazy but my friend is giving her the benefit of the doubt and leaning more towards genius-that it was a creative solution.
