I LOOKED to see if anyone had posted this, but I'm sorry if I'm repeating - Deb Wills' site says SSR goes on sale Monday, $89 with $10 MB with a 100 pt minimum instead of the current 150.

I think we better wait to hear from DVC before carving that in stone. My understanding was that it was a 100 point minimum add-on to take advantage of the incentives.

also it isn't Magical beginnings,it is just a $10 dollar credit(discount,incentive)

The minimum point purchase for an add-on is still 25 points, but the price will be $89 for that number of points.

To take advantage of the incentives being offered, the minimum add-on is 100 points. For a new purchase, the minimum is still 150 points.

Enjoy!

So I can add-on 100 points and still get the $10 incentive and still keep my 100 points that I would receive for my Sept 2004 Use year, based on what we are understanding now?

That's right...based on the information available now.

Thanks for the info. We plan on adding on shortly. DA and DU (new to DVC) purchased at BCV in July. They hadn't closed yet and found out about SSR with the extra years from this message board. Thanks to whomever posted it.:) The sales guide didn’t mention it to them. (I guess since it was technically not open yet) Since they are handing it down to their children it made sense and they like the location. DVC transferred it yesterday with a phone call and fax.:)

I spoke with a guide yesterday (Friday, August 1). They will have new books and can begin selling on Sunday. The minimum points will be 100 for the MB of $10 off and they will have incentives similar to pre-sales at BCV including free stays based upon the number of points you purchase and buy backs but you will get to keep this year's points! According the guide there will be a heavy media blitz too. Add ons can be as few as 25 points but as Doc said you won't get MB. Annmarie

Just to clarify, the reported $10 incentive is NOT Magical Beginnings. It is a credit of $10 and you will not have to give up any points- but also won't get any until apparently April 1, 2004. If this is an add-on, you will not get new points until your first Use Year month after April 1, 2004 (For those with Feb or March Use Years- that would mean not until 2005).

If you wait until May 1, 2004 to purchase or add-on, this incentive will not be available- it is truly a presale incentive.

I'll still feel a lot more secure about this after tomorrow, when the information should become publicly and officially available.

Doc, the only info my guide told differently was "when you get the points. " She said we'd all get them assigned on May 1st when the place opened. We discussed this twice, because I was trying to take notes. Now I am curious, as our use year is March and I would NOT want to wait 11 months for those points! We specifically discussed use year, and she said for any add-on , Disney would just give them to you in your original use year. This made sense to me. She added specifically that I couldn't have the points until the property opened in May, which is just what happened with Beach Club when we bought during the "presale" there.

I hope MY guide was right this time! :)

I don't know how the points work with use years. If we bought an add-on and had a February use year would we get points in 2004? Or would we have to wait until 2005? Just wondered since they are not suppose to open until May 2004.

In the past, no points were available for Use Years prior to the opening of the resort- you had to wait until the next Use Year for them.

We prepurchased an add-on at HH in March, 1995 with a June Use Year. The resort didn't open until March, 1996 and we got no points until June, 1996- a full 15 months after making our deposit.

I believe the same thing was true for BCV- no points were available until the resort opened in July, 2002- although presales did allow for Feb. Use Year, but no points were available for a Use Year earlier than Feb.

If you have Sept Use Year, and you buy now, I am guessing that you could "borrow" those Sep 2004 points for a stay in summer of 2004.

One more thing, are the "pre-opening" incentives usually about as good as they ever get?

Certainly- borrowing the points you will receive has been allowed in the past.

The preopening incentives have been the best deal available and when they end, they've never reinstated them. I don't remember any for resorts prior to BCV however (there were certainly none for HH when we purchased). When they're gone...they're gone!!

I think I would like to buy maybe 100 pts at SSR. But I would drag it out until right before the incentives end which no one knows when yet.

This way, I can pay pro-rated maintenance fees (assume the incentives would last at least until close to the opening of SSR) rather than the full year for 2004 (if I buy them anytime before 12/31).

Any flaws in this thinking?

It has been reported the incentive ends on April 1, when the points are released (I assume that's when closing will start). Dues will be prorated from that time- for everyone who gets their points then.

It would appear that there is no penalty for getting them early, but as long as it's before the end of March you'll be all set. Those purchasing early do have the option of the "extra" points to be used before April 1, 2004. The longer you delay the purchase, the less time you'll have to use that option.

Enjoy!

So Doc, does this mean that if you are just adding on, say 100 points or less, will you also get these extra points for use before 4/1/04?

I am just looking to "add on" and my guide said you get the points in April and can use them in May ('04) when the place opens. I hope she is right! We bought BCV in March 02. I was assigned the points at closing but couldn't use them until the BCV opened on July 1st. I did not have to wait until the "next" March and got a similar great "presale" offer of $10 off without giving back any points. This is why I hold out hope that what my guide told me was correct! :) I did call her with our questions and hope I hear back soon.

Now for the harder part -- coming up with the $7900 before April when dh thinks we have too many points already! :)

My understanding is that there can be no points available for the resort for any date prior to when it actually opens. I'm not certain how they'll do that for April points, but I'll assume if you have a Sep Use Year, you will have to wait until Sep. 04 to get your first point allocation of any SSR points. This has certainly been the case when prior resorts have opened. Points have not been available for any year prior to when the resort opened for guests.

Reportedly, no SSR points will be available to use prior to April 1, 2004 for any Use Year.

I'm sure we'll get some clarification for these issues in the next few days. I'll be there next weekend and intend to try to see the models and am making a list of questions to ask about the incentives for SSR.
