Does anyone have just a 100 point contract that you use for your vacations? Does is work for your needs? Do you like it? Are you planning to add on in the near future or do you feel like it's not necessary at this time? I only vacation once a year possibly looking at twice a year and booking four nights each time for a total of 8 nights per year. This can be done at Boardwalk Villas and Old Key West. I'd like to get the most "bang for my buck". :woohoo:

Thanks!

Our contract is for only 100 pts and our home resort is BLT. We took our first trip as a DVC member in May and had to borrow points from 2011 to do so...we stayed 9 nights in a studio at BCV. We do plan on adding on in the near future, but we don't want to add on at BLT but rather at BCV. We want 2 home resorts close to our 2 favorite parks.

You might be able to stay at BLT easy for now, but when it sales out it may be harder to get a studio. If you travel at cheaper point times, it still adds up and you may not be able to stay 2 times a year. We had 100 points and found it wasn't enough. AK value studios are the best point use there is, IMHO. But you can't always get those rooms. We added on not once but twice. We decided we wanted to try other resorts at different times of the year. I now think we are set. ( I HOPE )

My first contract was a 100 point contract at VWL. It worked out perfect for us until we got addonitis. I purchased another 50 point VWL contract but sold it after a few years as it was a hassle to coordinate the two. I have since purchased a 75 point VWL contract because my children now have spouses and children.

We just purchased 100 points at AKV... our plan is to visit once a year for 5 days to a week... studio is fine for us right now since we only have dd and she is still young... we also have Wyndham points for our other vacations since the MF and upfront cost is low and we don't usually head to Disney more than once a year... :goodvibes

Look at the point charts and see what time of year you will be going and what type of accommodations you will be looking for. If Boardwalk and OKW fit your parameters, make sure you own there so you can get the 11 month booking advantage.

We were always in perpetual borrow mode and I was not comfortable with that, so we have added on (twice now). Good thing with DVC is you can start as small as you want and add-on as needed! :thumbsup2

PS: Forgot to add... you can always rent points if you need more, or purchase up to 24 one-time use points. That's something to consider.

This is good information. Both Old Key West and Boardwalk villas have very low points for late April/Early May. Actually, if I stayed only four nights at Boardwalk Villas in late April/Early May, I would still have points to stay during the first week of Dec. at Boardwalk or Old Key West! That of course is if I wanted to go again in December.

there is a VERY limited supply of "low point" studios at BWV. if you want to get them on a consistent basis, you should plan on buying a BWV contract and booking right around the 11 month mark. (the same is true of the "value" studios at AKV...very few of them.)

OKW is not as tough a get due to the size but early december is very popular and i still wouldn't wait that long to book at any resort if you want early december.

a small contract can be a great place to start...especially if it means that you don't have to finance. i have a small contract (smaller than 100 pts) and it currently works fine for me.

We started with a BWV 100 point contract so we could pay cash. It's just my sweetie and I staying in a studio and we felt it was enough for us. :thumbsup2

We made our first DVC stay in January at BWV. :cloud9: We loved being at WDW for a week at a time and we decided we needed a little more. We watched the resale market and purchased another small (55 point SSR) contract that suited our needs.

Both contracts came with two years worth of points so we have two more trips booked to use our annual passes on. :goodvibes

Now we can stay at BWV one year and SSR the next and add an extra trip every now and then.

As of now, we don't see a need for more points. :rolleyes1

We started with a 100 pt BCV contract (resale) that was fully loaded. That was plenty for us....for the first trip. By the 2nd trip, we needed more points. However, we tend to travel with family and were "renting" our points to them and all staying in studios. We bought a 150 pt SSR contract via resale. We are through buying points because that's all the money I can justify having tied up in DVC. We will look for points transfers to cover the deficit for our family accommodations. And, if/when we decide to do trips on our own, we can easily use the 250 pts in a 1- or 2-bdrm for just our family.

We have a 100 pt contract @ BWV and have had no real desire to add on. With our points we can get a studio once a year with little or no problem. The only problem is we have been taking more trips lately than we anticipated. We have trips planned for Sep. & Apr. After that, we don't know when we'll go back. It will probably be time to go to HHI then. We can usually get a good member cash rate there.

I have a 100 point contract and so far it is working for us. I do plan to add 50 points in the next five years because a studio will not just cut it by them. 200 total points is my goal so we can get 2 bedrooms.

We recently bought a 100-point contract. W eplan on adding on in the future, but our current Disney schedule is a weekend every December and a big, 9-day trip every other July. The 100 points is exactly right for our current needs.

Wow! How do you do it with 100 points? We have 340 and are always in borrowing mode!

We bought a 100 point at KV and just added 35 points at HH in May. This year we will have stayed 4 nights at KV, 2 nights at GCV, 1 night in a 2 bedroom at HH, 3 nights at Vero and 5 nights at KV. The 135 combined points work great! I am so excited about going to HH next month and Vero and then home at KV. We love KV and I can't wait to go home in Nov.

We have a 100 point BWV contract with an October Use Year. It has worked well for us. However, I have another BWV contract with an April Use Year. We are in the process of adding onto the April Use Year (through resale versus DIsney) to simplify reservations. As soon as that finalizes, we will be selling the 100 point October Use Year.

Wish me luck!!

I would say that it depends on when you travel. We own 100 points, but were given a bonus of 100 when we joined. Our first two trips in the Spring required about 125 points for a week in a studio first at BWV, then at BCV. Our next trip however, is well under 100, with 5 days in December. So, it really depends on your travel habits. We will probably add-on about 50 points in the next few years, so that we can choose a week in a studio at any location any time of the year.

We've had a 100 point contract for 5 years. If we do a 5-6 day 2 bdrm trip with the whole family, we go every other year. 100 is perfect for annual studio trips. With airfare costs, I see us going every 2 years for awhile.

We bought in with a 100 contract at OKW(resale) Have added on 25 points direct, could not find a resale with a August use year. Will see how this goes and probably add on again. Don't want to finance so buying small.
