100 Degrees on Wednesday!?!?!

What is the humidity level? 100* can be quite pleasant if you are out of the sun and low humidity

I don't get this weather we're having. I pay So Cal prices for 72 and sunny all year round, not triple digits. This blows. Thank God we have central A/C, most of the people I know don't.

I have found that Accuweather is anything but accurate. During the last heat wave they were predicting low 80's and it was almost 100. Weather Channel seems to be better.

Any suggestions on dealing with the heat next week outside of pool breaks? We are from Seattle and our first day there is Wednesday. I am little bummed but what can you do.
Do the misting fans work?

The misting fans do work well. Just buy one outside of DL and save yourself a lot of money.

I got a great pair of misting fans from amazon. They work so good and they have a clip to clip on to a backpack too if needed. I also really like Frogg Toggs chilly pad cooling towel. Put all these together with my camelbak filled with ice water and it helps a lot.

Last Tuesday when the Santa Ana's really started blowing it was hot as Hades but dry. Very dry. The problem was the wind was hot air blowing. It felt like a blow dryer. There was also a lot of grit in the air so it was hot air sandblasting you. Dry air but faaaaaar from pleasant.

We were in a 10th floor room at the DLH that looked out over the front of the hotel to the mountains in the distance. We watched the flags and trees to tell which way the wind was blowing. When it came from the east it was the hot wind. We watched those flags settle mid-day Wednesday then shift the other direction. Then we knew it was comfortable wind outside.

Definitely go early, then head back to your hotel midday to swim and relax, and then come back to the parks in the evening! It's the only way to make it through the hot weather. We were there in the heatwave of 2012 and it was brutal.

Normally I would say wait until a little closer to worry because our forecast changes a lot...but after last weeks heatwave, now I say to be prepared. Last week was not fun and looks like next week will be more of the same.

The 100 degrees isn't bad if the wind isn't blowing, but the wind last week made it miserable.

Time your fastpasses so that you have the water rides in the middle of the day. Also spend a little time in Bugs Land enjoying the water fountain play area (not just for kids, LOL).

Also try a small washcloth in a baggie of ice water. Put that on the back of your neck when you are standing in lines. That always helps me.

Good luck!!

This is not that weird. May has seen hotter days in the mid-aughts and tends to fluctuate with MayGrey/JuneGloom. The key is to stay hydrated, keep in the shade and use plenty sunblock. QSRs will often hand out water and ice if asked. Misting fans are great or even just a wet towel helps.

I would assume this forecast to be pretty close to accurate. I am in N. California and our forecast is showing mid 90s through mid-week and then hitting triple digits by the end of the week.

Stay hydrated, drink lots and lots of fluids! The ICEE-type Minute Maid frozen lemonades were so good and we had so many of those in addition to lots of water.

Lots of sunscreen and re-apply (it will also help protect your skin if there are sandblasting winds).

Get wet! We got the misting fans and IMO they don't do a whole lot. You want a pretty damp shirt to cool down. In DCA there are a couple of splash pads in Bugsland - get wet! Wear shoes that are comfy to walk in when wet (like Tevas). At one point in DL (not sure if there's a splash pad there) I even just dumped a bottle of water over our girls' heads and they loved it and felt so much better. You dry off quickly in the sun so don't worry about the wetness making you uncomfortable - wet is GOOD, LOL. Getting your t-shirt significantly wet helps a TON.

Long afternoon breaks at the hotel pool were key. If it's windy it kind of sucks because you feel good in the water but then freezing when you get out. But still - it's a welcome reprieve from the heat. We spent from about 1pm until 4pm at the pool, then walked slowly back through DTD to get an early dinner, then back into the parks where (sometimes) the lines were much better and we could get some rides in.

Wear a hat, or be careful to apply sunscreen in your hair at the part or where the scalp is exposed - those burn too!

In retrospect I wish I had brought some baby powder or something similar for chafing. The heat, sweat, sand in the wind gave all of use chafed spots - on my thighs where the hem of my shorts rubbed, on the inside of my arms where they rubbed on my ****s, etc. That was last week and they're STILL chafed and healing. We also all got heat rash so aloe or something similar might be nice to apply in the evenings to soothe.

But the most important thing is to drink, drink, drink!

and LOL b-o-o-b-s was apparently not an appropriate word to use here. But seriously, I was surprised at the chafing.

I completely agree about the chafing! Not fun at all. Especially when you do get wet and you have wet clothes rubbing.

I have always used body glide which has worked so great but I also just got Anti Monkey Butt powder which had amazing reviews on amazon and have used it this past week. Works great and it even helps inside your shoes.

Ok I have got to say that I love that name..... anti monkey butt lol! I'm just dying right now! :faint:
just one question though, well actually more than one... do you use that stuff so you're butt doesn't look like a sweaty monkey butt? Or that it doesn't feel like one? Or both? Hey now this is important stuff here! Enquiring minds need to know or perhaps not! Lol
oh one more thing.... is this stuff actually used on real monkeys? I mean how can you tell it really works? Does it grow hair on your booty? because quite frankly, I don't think that would be a real good look, on anyone, well except for monkeys of course! And other hairy butt primates, well not humans of course. I wonder if I might have a real deep desire for a lot of bananas? Hm.....

No man really!

I know its a really weird name! haha. If you read the reviews on amazon some of them are really funny just because of the name of this product. It was pure entertainment.

From the website... It's a term used by motorcycle riders to describe the soreness, itching and redness that occurs when you ride and sweat on a motorcycle for hours. If you have to walk bowlegged like a monkey to prevent your skin from rubbing, you have Monkey Butt!

A lot of people say it is a miracle for diaper rash. I have used it to prevent rubbing in my shoes, under my breast from chafing, on my inner thighs to prevent the chafing from my shorts or jeans rubbing, and on the inside of my upper arms. Anywhere you get chafing, it is good for. However, when I know I will get wet from a ride I will probably stick to the body glide since that has always stayed on even when wet.

Basically it can be used anywhere externally. People say it even works on their pets!

Those are my 2 secret products that I love! I am prepared for anything now. haha
