100 bucks for food can it be done??

Another option someone mentioned awhile back if you don't want to check water. A few days before vacation, purchase water from officemax website and have delivered for free to your resort. It's only a few dollars a case.

totally off topic I apologize but noticed you are from Gilbert Az, I have this silly thing where I collect things with my dogs names .& we have a Gibert...ridiculous I know :lmao: would it be possible to get a postcard sent to me from there? I can PM you the info OR I can meet you at WDW and exchange it for a bottle of water ;)

LOL :lmao: Do you want postcard that says Gilbert, AZ or just the post mark that says Gilbert, AZ? How bought an envelope the says Gilbert Elementary school HA HA. GO ahead and send me a PM and let me know what you're looking for and I'll see what I can do.

woohoo free shipping that sounds good I might check that out!

Well, you would have to get over the idea of checking a bag if you plan to pack water. Note that it will likely cost you between $15 and $25 to check that bag; you need to factor that into your water budget.

We Go Shop (wegoshop.com) charges a few dollars more than Garden Grocer for the actual shopping/delivery BUT they will shop at the store of YOUR choice, not theirs. If you want them to shop at Super WalMart, they will, making the cost of the actual groceries much lower than what you see on the GG site.

I fly Southwest...no check bagged fees as long as not over weight limit.

Ditto this. Walgreens has their own version, eight or ten in a box for a dollar. Seems a HUGE waste to me to spend money on soda or water  when you're trying to keep costs down, even if you don't like the taste of plain tap water.

good call maybe I should just take my trusty refillable water bottle and be done with it. I have those little packets things in the house already no need to shop. WOOHOO cross two dollars off the shopping list :woohoo: Still need a Diet Coke though don't think I can make it 3 whole days without one. Maybe I can ask for an extra on the plane and not drink it but save it for my trip. WOW is that too thrifty. :rotfl:

checked out Garden Grocer
-12 pack water 4.99 12 pack Dt. Coke 5.89 before taxes and shipping way outta my budget

Office max
-no diet coke, 4.99 for case of water, 7.95 for shipping outta my budget too

so that leaves going to Hess on arrival day, checking bag and packing water and cokes, or bringing my trusty refillable bottle and flavor packets that I already have.

hmmmm:confused3 I have to think about this one

Instead of packing waters, couldn't you get a filtered water bottle and pack it in your suitcase? They make some now called Bobble that have the filters built into the lid. So it filters as you drink it.

Yeah, frankly, it is. If you NEED a Diet Coke, budget somewhere else and spend the $2.50 to simply purchase one onsite.

Can you live on peanut butter & jelly? I would (actually, this isn't merely a suggestion) buy a large box of Uncrustables at my local supermarket and keep them in my freezer. Once thawed, they're okay for about a week. I think there are ten in a box for about $9? Because the sandwiches are pre-made, you can bring them in your carry-on; jars of peanut butter and jelly would need to be in checked luggage, plus you'd need to bring bread without getting it smooshed.

Totally get the Diet Coke thing! Diet Coke is my caffeine of choice. And only Coke, no Pepsi.

I like the idea of getting some on the plane. Ask the flight attendant if you can have a can, or mayble 2. Say you're really thirsty! :goodvibes

Love SW and no fees. :goodvibes Are you going to use ME? If so then you won't even have to worry about retrieving your bag(s). Just get on the bus and your bags will follow you. In that case you could bring quite a bit of food in your bags. The one thing I've never brought (especially since 9/11) is peanut butter. I think it's really difficult with the scanners. And if your bag is full of food, do you really want to have them open it up and see all you stuff?:rotfl2:

Oh, oh, oh, I just thought of a way to save a little bit more money. If you could pick up some assorted condiments (like p.butter and cream cheese, etc.) that you can't get at POP, at places you visit at home, you could bring those along. My DM is always excited when we find relish in those little packages-she loves to mix it with her tuna. A couple mayo packages, can of tuna, few slices of bread, and you've got a meal!

All the times I've been to the Hess station I realize I've never been inside. Sounds like they have some good deals in there! We'll be doing the QSDDP so maybe we'll have to check it out!

OP is reluctant to check luggage.

Yeah, I saw that but she did mention she was flying SW and would have to get over her reluctance to check bag(s). :goodvibesThat's why I mentioned ME-she wont' have to worry about waiting for her bags. If I was on a tight food budget, without a car, I would check a bag with food items.

Yes, eat at the food court....you should be fine.

I sometimes replace "meals" with jumbo pretzels or a Dole Whip.

Definately Coke. No Pepsi ever! :rotfl2:
I think I will consider ordering a 2 diet cokes with one to save if the flight attendant is nice.
How does ME work? I know I get a luggage tag but when will get my bag. I would prefer it be in my room before bed so I can settle in. Does that usually happen or am I going to have a bell hop banging on my door at 3 am? My flight is scheduled to land at 5:30 pm.

OK here are the tips I'm going to try

bring own refillable water bottle and flavor packets with me. (cost free)
bring plenty of snacks/lunch for plane ride (cost minimal)
bring plenty of snacks/breafasty food for trip (cost minimal)
ask for extra diet coke on plane if brave (cost free)
check out condiments at POP for meal helpers (cost free)
use snacks small as meal replacers (save a couple bucks per meal)
use kids menu at some CS (save a couple bucks per meal)
get diet coke at Hess (save a couple bucks)
if buying coke in the world get it at place with free refills

Anything else I missed?? WOW these boards are soooooo helpful :lovestruc

I think I'll do a budget report as it gets closer to my trip so everyone can see how I saved.

OP - bring a new unopened jar of peanut butter in your carry on. I do it all the time.

The protein is great for you. You can buy a loaf of bread or bring your own bagels in your carry on. It makes for a great snack or breakfast!

if you go to epcot, you can visit the coke station and get free samples from around the world. They don't have a diet coke version but maybe someone can say if one of them tastes similar. I don't know.

I take a new jar of peanut butter in my carry on bag ever time and have never had a problem.

WOW really? I read on the TSA page that jells and such would be a no go.

I have carried a PB?J sandwich before and that was fine but I would be afraid to carry a whole jar on. Plus I wouldn't eat it all in 3 days. Maybe just some small ones in my quart bag? rumor is there is PB at the POP food court in the condiments section I could always grab some of those to use.

Won't argue, since I don't travel with you - but as far as the rest of us know, peanut butter is one of the substances not permitted in carry-on luggage except (a) as part of prepared sandwiches or (b) in 3-1-1-compliant packaging (and, of course, IN that bag).
