just booked my flight for April - I can't believe it.

I first went to DL in 1991 and 1998 (when they were building DCA) - so i haven't seen the new park!

Now i am going back to Californina (man, i heart the States!) anyway - i am a bit of a WDW vet (done WDW 4 times) - so what apart from the new park has changed in DL?

Thanks Guys!

1. Added Buzz Lightyear ride like MK - but most like it better at DL

2. POTC modified and improved

3. Space Mtn was refurbed for 2 1/2 years and is out of this world (pun definitely intended). It is hugely improved

4. Tom Sawyer Island has been completely changed and is now "Pirates Lair at Tom Sawyer Island"

5. Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage replaced old sub ride which was down for 9 years

6. Country Bear Jamboree gone :sad1: and Winnie the Pooh ride added :sad1: :sad1:

7. Outside DL they now have a DTD and of course DCA

To add to the list:

-I don't remember if back then they had the Fantasyland and Tomorrowland Autopias (separate), but now they just have one big long one in Tomorrowland.

-FastPass has been added, but since you have been to WDW I assume you know how it works. Same system.

-Remember Dreams come True fireworks and Parade of Dreams

-Enchanted Tiki Room and Jungle Cruise have had minor changes

-I don't think Tarzan's Treehouse was there in 98

-Rocket Rods has been removed

thanks to you both for helping me out here.

just wonderng about space mountain - i have been on it but can't remember much about it.

i can do space mountain in WDW - but can't do SM in disneyland paris as it goes upside down.

does the revamped SM at DL go upside down or any HUGE drops?

thanks. :cool1:

It doesn't go upside down, and I don't feel it has huge drops. Any height is limited by the top of the building, of course. :) Very very dark, though.

DL's Space is more mild "ride-wise" than MK's. However I like DL's better because of the music, complete darkness (except for stars), and the smoothness.

I am so glad you posted this! The last time I was at Disneyland was also in 1998, right after the awful Tomorrowland re-furb was opened. I saw all the construction going on next door (DCA),but have not experienced any of this. I grew up in L.A., so was always a DL girl....but not since it became DLR. Of course, now I live in S. FL so I am becomming a WDW girl! ;)

My DH has never been to DL, so I am excited to show him my old "home" park and see DCA as well. I can't wait to ride the new Space Mountain (so much better than at WDW) and for my husband to finally get why Pirates of the Carib. is such a classic. It is so short at WDW, that he just does not get why people rave so much about it.

August can't come soon enough! Thanks for reminding me of some of the other new things we will both get to experience.

our 10 year anniversary!

What a coincidence! We're going to LA in April (5th) for the first time since 1999. Like you we've had 4 trips to Orlando in that time, but are looking to go back to LA.

Really looking forward to Indiana Jones ride again. My all time favourite alond side ToT and Spidey
