My youngest child is also my pickiest eater and this will be our first trip where he is older than 9 (he's 10). We will not be on the dining plan and I know anyone can order kids meals at QS restaurants - are there any TS restaurants that allow some leeway on age and kids' menu? If not, we'll just do all QS.

Any a la carte TS will allow him to order off the kids menu. If you eat at an AYCTE restaurant or order an AYCTE menu item, he will be charged the adult fee - buffets, family-style meals (like O'hana) or entrees like the skillet at WCC.

Wow, excellent! Thank you!

Not quite...sometimes the TS's will make an adult portion of the kids menu items and charge adult price. So, it will be a nice thing when a TS gives him a kids meal portion at a kids meal price...but not an expected thing.

This. Our daughter was 11 when we ate at CRT. She had no interest in anything on the adult menu and they didn't bat an eye at her ordering from the kids menu. She got an adult portion of the chicken nugget meal...it was the biggest pile of chicken nuggets I've ever seen. :D

My oldest was 14 last summer and ordered kids meals everywhere. No one ever made it an issue.

This was our experience as well. Any a la carte restaurant never had an issue with this.

My 14 yo and 11 yo ordered off the child menu almost everywhere (if they wanted an adult meal, that was fine with us or once or twice they split an adult meal or just ordered an appetizer). We did pay adult price at Ohana breakfast, because that's how it works at the prix-fixe/ buffet/ aycte restaurants. Other than that we have eaten at Be Our Guest lunch (which is a QS but no one gave us any issue just the same), Sci-Fi Dine In, Beaches & Cream, Garden Grove (at the Swan, which IS a buffet but only charged us kid's pricing which we did not ask them to do), Kona Cafe, and Grand Floridian Cafe all without issue or upcharge.

CRT is a prix fixe meal, so you are charged by age (one price for 10 and up, one price for those under 10) and not by what is ordered.

I'm well aware of that. I was just sharing our experience in that they didn't have a problem making an adult size portion of a kids meal there -- no questions asked. It's obviously something they do every day.

I order off the kids menu at times.. no one care how old you are. It can save some extra bucks.. Just say its for the kids...if you feel the need. Its absolutely done all the time and NOT an issue. Period

Understood. Any prix-fixe/ aycte will do this. You can get chicken nuggets at Ohana if the regular menu doesn’t appeal to you. The price is the same, but they are really good about that.
