See if you agree!

By Gregory Ellword/Hollywood Hit List

Ever year has its share of duds, but 2005 had some classics that had audiences wishing they were sitting through "Catwoman" again. Buyers beware when you run into one of these titles in the DVD aisle ...

1. "In the Mix" -- A movie so bad on so many levels, scholars will study it for years. From the initial concept, to the script, to the casting, to the production design and finally to the direction, you can see the movie's budget going up in smoke on screen.

2. "Elektra" -- You know you're in for a long night when a cute teenage ninja-girl shows up for Jennifer Garner to protect. And to think director Rob Bowman once showed so much promise ...

3. "Undiscovered" -- A movie so wretched that it's only spared the first two slots on this list by its pretty cinematography. Bonus: If you're looking for a good drinking game, take a sip every time Ashlee Simpson stares directly into the camera. You can take the girl out of the music video, but you can't take the music video out of the girl!

4. "Waiting..." -- A great concept awfully executed. A first-year film student could have shot this movie better.

5. "Stealth" -- It's hard to take even a B-movie seriously when its villain is a talking robotic superfighter jet. An imaginative screenplay and three-dimensional characters wouldn't have hurt.

6. "Crash" -- Paul Haggis' take on Los Angeles race relations is so self-aware, so manipulative and so contrived that the only thing redeeming about it are the performances of Don Cheadle, Ryan Phillippe and Thandie Newton.

7. "The Man" -- Somewhere, a movie executive still thinks pairing Samuel L. Jackson and Eugene Levy together is comic genius! Boy, is he wrong.

8. "The Honeymooners" -- See the previous comments on "The Man" and replace Jackson and Levy with Cedric the Entertainer and Mike Epps.

9. "The Bridge of San Luis Rey" -- This all-star production featuring Robert De Niro, Kathy Bates and Gabriel Byrne was filled with one snore-inducing scene after another. Some investor lost a lot of dough on this pile of crap.

10. "Herbie: Fully Loaded" -- This revival of the Disney franchise had the charm of the original movies sucked out of it. And people wondered why star Lindsay Lohan was drinking every night during the production.

The Next Ten: "The Ice Harvest," "The Dying Gaul," "The Longest Yard," "Rebound," "War of the Worlds" (for the ending alone), "Everything Is Illuminated," "Green Street Hooligans," "Pretty Persuasion," "The Pacifier" and "Doom"

Just saw "Yours, Mine and Ours" and would like to throw that one in there as well.

The only one I saw was War of the Worlds (which was in the second set of movies). I managed to miss almost all the stinkers. And I actually enjoyed WOTW.

I liked Crash - great movie. One vote for worst film is The Jacket (with Adrien Brody). OMG, one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I've only seen War of the Worlds and The Pacifier.

WOTW was OK. A bit long and dragged out for my taste.

The Pacifier was funny....anything that involves some sort of bird attacking someone is good in my book. :goodvibes

I liked Crash - great movie. .

I agree with you on Crash - disturbingly, hauntingly, creepily good.

The only ones on the list I have seen were Herbie and The Pacifier (I have a DD who is 9) I would have to add that awful movie with Hillary Duff and Chris Noth. I can't remember the name of it, it was that bad.

Now, we loved Herbie. My kids even got the DVD for Christmas. I actually even shed a couple of tears. I'm such a sap!

I was one who did not like Crash for the reasons listed in the OP. Too heavy handed. I did not buy some of the character arcs at all. Yes, I realize the movie had a point to make, ut make it on fewer characters where you can tell a convincing story, then.

The only one I saw was on the "other 10 list" which was The Pacifier and I kinda liked that one. :)

That's cause you like what's his name.....Vin Diesel! ;)

Dukes of Hazzard? :crazy2:

I went to see this with a girlfriend (after hinting six ways to Sunday that I didn't want to see it) and I HATED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF IT.

(Okay, I confess to finding Seann William Scott a trifle distracting... )

It was so bad at one point I got up, went to the bathroom and cleaned out my purse.

Wretched, horrible, shameful and just plain ole bad.

Well out of the top 10, I'm proud to say that I only saw Herbie. I guess I should be ashamed that I really liked it. :rolleyes1

Out of the next 10, I might have seen a few more. . . and liked them too!

That list surprises me a little because I saw Crash on some Top 10 lists in certain magazines. I haven't seen it.

I saw WOTW, and I agree with keeping it in the bottom 10--I thought it was awful.

I second the idea that The Jacket should also be in the bottom 10--what is it with Academy award winners (Adrien Brody, Charleze Theron) wanting to star in awful movies (The Jacket, whatever that comic book movie she was just in)?

I liked crash. I saw King Kong on Christmas and thought it was pretty bad, it was way too long and dragged out.

Uh oh...I'm going to see King Kong in a few hours!

Was Alexander from 2004 or 2005? I still contest that it's the worst movie ever made.

However, I loved War of the Worlds, and liked Crash - and although Stealth was by no means a good movie - it wasn't absolutely terrible.

I just saw Pretty Persuation the other night. I loved Evan Rachel Woods in Thirteen, but P.P. was just terrible and pointless. It didn't even get a plot until half way through.

Serenity was pretty bad also. It was the exact same as watching the show (which I had never heard of until the movie was released). I can see why it was cancelled - still clueless on why they made the movie.

I saw War of the Worlds, but found myself comparing it to the original. And by then I had already written off Tom Cruise as my least favorite actor, so he kind of ruined it for me.

Oh man. I loved "Crash." It was so haunting and disturbing.

wow I havent even heard of most of those movies LOL

I DID like Herbie though, we all did actually :)
