1. Kept our eyes open for Ohioan's with smiley face T-shirts. (sorry Nick and Cindy aka ncligs, we never found ya).
2. Spent an afternoon listening to live music, eating seafood, and drinking Corona's at Capt Hirams.
3.Taught myself how to make seafood fettucini with only a microwave.
4. Became re-acquinted with the awesome sights and sounds of the ocean.
5. Boogie boarded till it hurt.
6. Rented a Hobie Cat and sailed the ocean blue. The resort looks awesome from the sea.
7. Watched a 300 lb Laggerhead sea turtle lay her eggs and head back to the sea as the Mars rover rocked punched a hole in the midnight sky.
8. Enjoyed serious mini golf and shuffle board competitions with each other.
9. Enjoyed Sonya's excellent service with steaks one nignt, seafood buffet the following.
10. Loved spending time alone with my Bride of 10 years as we celebrated this anniversery together.

In addition, we left early enough Friday morning to make MK Opening. We enjoyed the Keys to the Kingdom tour and followed rumors to EPCOT for Mission Space soft opening. We both thought it was awesome and intense but Darlene had space motion sickness for the rest of the day. Happy to answer any questions.

............Were you guys in the Inn? We were on the 4th floor in room 2419.

Sounds like you had a great time.

We enjoyed our trip also.

Where is Capt Hirams? Is it on the ocean? We would love to find a place where Dolphans can be spotted.

Captain Hiram's

Captain Hiram's is one of those places that you go to dinner and then tell all your friends about. With an excellent dining facility, full bar, docks for boat arrivals, and great food, it is tough to beat for a great evening out. Your TikiGod also loved the live music and outdoor dining area. It sits right on the waterfront, and the menu is extensive. The service superb, and the atmosphere fantastic. Many patrons arrived by Water Chariot, and it was like a festival. You can check our Business Directory Food and Drink listing for exact details and location. Dress is casual. Captain Hiram's is highly recommended by your TikiGod.

ncligs,
Yes we were in the inn with ocean view on the second floor. I laugh at myself for thinking that we would just run into you guys at the pool. I guess I'm used to the VWL truely "quiet" pool where we often get to know other lodgers during our stay.

Tigger 1,
We were right on the intercostal water at the "Sand Bar". Very laid back, outdoor booths, tables and sandy beach for the floor. There was live music and good food. Also, I did get to see some dolphins playing within a block of the resort one morning. I Just caught the very end but the woman who brought this to my attention had been watching them for some time.

Last summer we were less than impressed with the offerings at Sonyas during their seafood night. What did they have this year? We love seafood but we just don't like alot done to it, sauces, etc.

How was the ocean? Our first trip there it was blue and clear and last year it was very rough. We're leaving in a little over 2 weeks and are so excited.

Snow Witch,

You are right about the seafood buffet. DH loves seafood but he likes just plain seafood-stone crab, salmon with just lemon and butter, peal and eat shrimp, etc.

They seemed to have a lot of seafood "dishes" that were nice but we understand what you mean about not having a lot done to it.

I think they may have changed it a little to include more fresh seafood as well as the dishes.

Both restuarants sound great, Sand bar and Caption Hirams.
We have been to Vero several times but never left the resort except for grocerys. Next trip we plan to go to Pilicans Island, the State Park near Sebastion, and out to eat for Sea food.
I can hardly wait.

Snow Witch, We were there the end of May, first of June this year.
The water was much calmer the first day than it was two years ago. The next few days it was much more wavy. There was also a storm every afternoon for the next 4 days.

SnowWitch,

If you don't like snow crab legs it probably is not worth the money. We ate more than we needed to, it was plentiful and good. They did have peel and eat shrimp, california roll sushi, "scalloped" scallops (which I really liked), fried shrimp, cajun catfish, clam chowder, mussles, clam fettucine in red sauce, and more that I cant recall. The ocean was not calm but not wild either. Good for boogie boarding most of the time.

Okay we could eat our moneys worth in crab legs. I know that sounds bad and most of the time you lose $ on buffets but honey you put crab legs on that bad boy and thats another story entirely.

We have spent our last 2 trips inquiring about a place that serves all you care to eat crab legs and there were none. How perfect crab legs and you don't have to get in the car!!!:p

My boys will be overjoyed about the waves. They love those boogie boards.

Tigger1 we hit Capt Hiriams twice every trip. Two words "Crab Cakes."
