10 Pounds Later - Our Delicious Deluxe Dining Review UPDATED 12/29 Raglan Road Dinner

Ahh your little boy is too cute. pirate: We have the deluxe plan for our trip in August so am really looking forward to reading more :thumbsup2

I'm really looking forward to the rest of your reviews - it looks like you went to some great places. That picture of your son with Belle is absolutely adorable!! :goodvibes

I was having serious guilt not getting this going sooner, so I'm happy to be back at it! I think there were so many factors in giving it such a low rating, I'd be willing to bet your visit will be so much better. Even my DH said he thought it deserved a C because he liked his food, just not the service. Thank you for reading along! :yay:

No guilt allowed! If I didn't have this air cast on my leg, which is keeping me from being able to get out and walk at lunch, I wouldn't be sitting here drooling over dining reviews. LOL I'd proably check in maybe one a week, but now I'm here daily to pass the time.

Loving your reviews so far! Can't wait to read more!

I'm so glad you all enjoyed CRT. We ate there for lunch last year and it was probably my favorite meal of the trip. I've read so many negative reviews about CRT, so it's nice to read a positive one for a change. :goodvibes

Thanks so much! It's good to hear another positive review, I will have to look at the lunch menu so we can try it out one of these days. :)

Thanks so much for the kind words! We had a blast eating our way through the world. It was quite a delicious experience.

Thanks! I think he's pretty swell myself. I hope you plan on doing a dining review, do you have your restaurants picked out yet?

Joining in! May daughter and I are doing the DxDP in June and you did a lot we plan to do. We will have CRT for breakfast for the first time ever. I'm glad to see someone liked it--I see negative reviews of CRT all the time.

Oooh, I want to know your list! Have you already hit your 180? Please share! I think you'll really like CRT. Most of the negative reviews I've read have been value related, but we certainly think it's worth it. I hope you have a wonderful time!

Yuck! A cast sounds like no fun, how much longer do you have to wear it? Wishing you a speedy recovery! I'll make sure to keep up on these reviews, I wouldn't want you to have a boring lunch break. ;) I hope you're back to your lunchtime walks sooner rather than later! :cheer2:

Liberty Tree Tavern

Rating: B= Content. No need for seconds, but enjoyable none the less.

We had a 12:50 ADR at LTT and arrived right on time. The servers call out the dining peeps name with "here ye, here ye, something something Smith party." I know, I have an excellent memory! We waited the longest here to be seated, about 15 minutes. No biggie, we were on vacation and enjoyed the people watching.

Our server here was just okay which is why LTT gets a B instead of an A. He wasn't very attentive and disappeared for long long periods of time. It was still a fun experience despite that.

We started off with the shared appetizer: Crab and Spinach Dip for two - Blue crab, spinach and cream cheese with warm flatbread. There were a few pieces of crab, it was mostly spinach and cream cheese. It wasn't fishy at all and it was very rich. The flat bread was too soft and kind of spongy, I think the dip would have been better with some crusty sourdough or chips, but we had no problem putting a serious dent in it.

I am a Thanksgiving FREAK so I had to have the Pilgrim's Feast - Traditional roast turkey and herb bread dressing, mashed potatoes and a garden vegetable. My vegetable was green beans. I would describe this dish as diner food. Classic Americana style food that was hot, fresh and tasty. The turkey was super moist, the mashed potatoes seemed to be real (not boxed), the stuffing was great and the green beans were cooked to a perfect al dente texture with a little snap left to them just how I like it. I have to say that I really appreciate that they used fresh green beans, and not canned. I asked for a side of cranberry sauce that took F-O-R-E-V-E-R to get (slow waiter) and it make the meal even more delicious. I stopped myself at half, but absolutely could have eaten the whole thing.

DH had theNew England Pot Roast...Tavern Keeper's Favorite - Braised beef in a Cabernet wine and mushroom sauce served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables and said it was some of the best pot roast he has ever had. It wasn't fatty, it was moist and cooked perfectly, and the veggies were also cooked to perfection.

Captain Jack had the mac and cheese. No photos, but he ate almost the whole plate along with an entire slice of turkey and some green beans.

Sad news about the dessert: NO PIX OF THE STICKY TOFFEE CAKE! Blame DH. Well, I thought it was mediocre. Between the three of us we ate about half. It was a cake with a toffee filled center and crushed toffee on top. It was TOO SWEET. I saw another table with each of the four diners eating an entire Sticky Toffee themselves, so I think we may be in the minority. :confused3

Next up, dinner at Raglan Road! :dance3:

So, I absolutely have loved the meals at Liberty Tree in the past, but I think maybe I've just out grown them. I can't imagine eating the Sticky Toffee. I think it would be too sweet for me, as well.

Day 2: Breakfast: Cinderella's Royal Table; Dinner: Chef Mickey's
Day 3: Breakfast: Tusker House; Dinner: Fultons (so excited that this is now on the DDP)
Day 4: Breakfast: Boma; Dinner: Tony's Town Square
Day 5: Dinner: Yachtsman
Day 6: Lunch: Mama Melrose; Dinner: Le Cellier (Which I am thinking of changing to Flying Fish because I love FF)

Thanks. 3 more weeks. And with my luck, around the time I can start my long walks at lunch again, the winter weather will finally make it's appearance. That lack of workout is killing me. I really need to get back on my feet so I can lose some of this weight I gained and get down to a good vacation weight before our Disney trip....which I'll probably put back on as we dine around the world. LOL

I'm just about sorted, need to see the Park hours which should be out shortly and then roll on 19 February to do our ADRs.

Ooooh, girl, that is a yummy looking lineup! Tell me about FF, we missed that one and it was very high on my list to try.

Have you been to Cali Grill? Was my absolute favorite meal of the trip.

I'll keep my toes crossed you're up and at 'em in the next few weeks! And that whole thing about not gaining because of all the walking? Lies! I packed the pounds ON over that week and a half. :rotfl:

Raglan Road

Rating: A = More, please! Can't get enough of this meal and would love seconds.

First I should tell you that we had THE worst seats in the house, but we still loved it. If you walk in and are facing the stage there is a pillar to the left of the stage. Each side of the pillar is buffered by stairs leading up to the stage. The front stairs are for the dancers, rear stairs for the band. Behind that is a door to the kitchen. Some crazy person decided to put a tiny table for two smack dab up against that pillar, so we were literally getting bumped into throughout the entire night as people went up and down the stage. We could not see anything, but the speaker was in my ear as it was right behind me, and people were in and out of the kitchen door constantly. AWFUL SEAT NO THANK YOU NEVER AGAIN. But the place still gets an A based on overall ambiance and excellent service. It was just so much fun and our server was GREAT!

We started at the bar and the bartender was wonderful. DH ordered a whiskey flight and I ordered One For The Road - A blend of Ciroc Vodka & Midori Melon with the juice of oranges & pineapples. I'm the queen of fruity cocktails and really enjoyed it.

I should note that we asked if we could do a shared appetizer here as others on the dining board said you could do that. We were told no by our server. Just an FYI for those out there that they won't always let you do this.

So...

For an appetizer, I ordered the Scallop Tart - Puff pastry and scallop tart with a watercress and grape tomato salad dressed in lemon oil. It was, in a word, unappetizing. The puff pastry was flavorless, the scallops looked/tasted boiled and left the pastry soggy. I thought it was awful and would not recommend it. In an otherwise great meal it was a fail.

Also, yes, that is a sleeping pirate in the background. He fell asleep as we sat down for dinner.

IMG_1178.jpg

DH ordered the Kinky Crab - Kilmore Quay crab spring rolls served with a sweet chili jam. These were your typical egg rolls, but fresh, hot and the sweet chili jam was perfect for dipping.

Now onto the sad part. NO PHOTOS OF THE ENTREES. I was in charge of this one and I failed. Don't be too mad at me, I redeemed myself at dessert.

I'm also still going to tell you about the entrees.

I ordered the Burger 'r' Way - Char grilled sirloin beef burger with bacon, tomato chutney & Dubliner vintage cheddar. Served with Irish style chips. I am all about the Dubliner cheese and this burger was over the top. Over the top DELICIOUS. I ended up splitting it with DH because he liked it more than his entree. The bun was the tiniest bit sweet, the burger was a high grade with no weird bits in it and the cheese and tomato chutney was TDF. One of the top three burgers I've ever had, and I'm from Texas where we have lots of great burgers!

DH had the Salmon of Knowledge - Baked Atlantic salmon fillet topped with smoked salmon, served with a maple glaze. It'll give you brains to burn. It was very rich and he liked it, but my burger stole the show.

Now I'm redeeming myself with dessert photos! Note the sad staging of these, that's what happens when I'm in charge. :lmao:

I ordered the Dunbrody Kiss: Chef Dundon’s gift to America. Chocolate.
And more chocolate, then add some more. It's basically corn flakes with chocolate layered on it. The flakes were a bit soggy, but the taste was good overall.

IMG_1186.jpg

DH ordered Ger’s Bread & Butter Pudding, Like no other pudding you have ever tried. Believe us.

Meehhhh, mostly bread and no pudding. It was really dry which I think you can see by the photo, right? But, the sauces on the side were nice. I ate the caramel sauce with a spoon. :cool2:

LOL. It looks like toast on a coffee cup. Breakfast - not dessert.

Your scallop appetizer sounded so promising. If only they had grilled the scallops - I think that would have made a world of difference.
