10% Dining Discount when using Disney Rewards

I was just on the Disney Chase Visa site trying to figure out when I should order our Redemption Card with our reward dollars and came across this "vacation perk."

10% Off Select Dining Locations
Receive 10% off select dining locations at Walt Disney World® Resort (restrictions may apply). Just use your Disney Visa Card or Disney Rewards Redemption Card at the locations below and mention this offer to receive the discount.

Among the restaurants listed are several that we have booked - Boma, Flying Fish, Hollywood Brown Derby, Captain's Grille. I've carefully read the restrictions (in super small print) and checked the dates the offer isn't valid (thankfully, we will NOT be at WDW during that time). I also see that the discount is only good on food not alcohol.

Just wanted to make sure I am reading this correctly - if we "pay" for our meal with our Disney Reward dollars at these restaurants, we can get a 10% discount on our meal? Is that right???

Has anyone done that recently? I'd be thrilled to discover that it works!

I have the Disney visa, too, but I am pretty certain that the 10% off is only when you charge the dinner to your Disney visa, not when using the rewards gift card that you get when you redeem your points.

Sorry, yes you can. I thought differently until my wife just corrected me. Yes, meaning either card. You can also call visa and have them load more rewards money on your card while down at Disney. We did this and had another $50 put on.

Can you just have the visa card attached to your magic band and still get the discount, or do you have to have the physical card with you to get it?

I believe you need to show & use the physical card in order to get the discount. They have no way of knowing @ POS what card you have attached to your MB for charging privileges.

That was my understanding, too, that the physical Visa card has to be presented to get the discount, but I am a relatively new Disney Visa card holder, so I may be wrong, but I do remember reading that in the fine print. Do other users have experience with showing the Visa card to get the discount and then using your MB or a Rewards card to actually pay for the meal?

Either your redemption card or the actual credit card need to be presented. You can't use a band linked to your Disney credit card as they have no way of verifying that it is a Disney card. We have used the redemption card before with no problems.

We used the Disney visa at Biergarden and H&V for the 10% off. I just gave them the credit card and casually mentioned the discount. Had no problems at all.

I tried it with the redemption card at Trails End last summer and was refused by the server. I probably could have spoken with the manager, found the fine print on my phone, etc, but I didn't feel it was worth it. I used the credit card for the discount instead. But yes, you're supposed to be able to use either.

This is accurate. They have to see either card for the discount even if it is attached to your magic band. We just went through this in July.

Make sure you say something but if you are fortunate for us all our servers asked if we had any discounts or DDP before we ordered.
