Hello: Purchased a 10 day non-expiring park hopper pass last year. We have 6 days left. Can I trade it in on a DVC annual pass? Anyone know the difference in price? Thanks

You can only upgrade a ticket 14 days after first use, even if it's non-expiring.

Does anyone know which is a better deal if you only visit once a yearl? 10 day non-expiring or Annual Pass with DVC discount.

Maybe I didn't explain myself. I'm not wanting to upgrade, but trade it in on an annual pass(take the remaining days of the pass and put towards the annual pass). I've done it before, but can't remember how it worked. Thanks

That IS an upgrade. There is no such thing as trading in or getting credit for unused days on a used ticket, there are only upgrades (adding days, getting an AP, adding water parks, adding non-expiring). And you can't do that after 14 days from first using it.

You cannot do what you want to do.

If you want more info, there is a very informative ticket sticky @ the top of the Theme Parks board - "Everything you ever wanted to know about WDW Ticketing" or something like that.

It depends on how many days your trips are. If you can make your 10 day non-expiring cover 2 trips of 5 days for example, and you only go once a year for 5 days, then you would want the ticket.

If you can make your AP stretch for 2 trips (planning them less than 12 months apart) and if you go for more than 5 days each trip, then the AP should make more sense.

It all depends on your travel habits and plans. You really have to be careful with non-expiring tickets to make sure you can get the most value out of them and use up the days without having to buy additional tickets for any future trip due to the way the ticket prices are so front-loaded.

Tom, you used to be able to do that - get a credit for the remaining days on your pass that you could apply to the purchase of an annual pass. So your memory is good, LOL.

But as vicki c posted, you no longer can do that. And since the MYW tickets are so heavily front end loaded (initial days cost much more than the last few days if you compare per day cost for each ticket), it's really a much better value for you to just use up those days. So now, you can only turn in your ticket and get credit towards a more expensive one if you do it within 14 days of the first use of the original ticket.

WE get the AP and then plan our yearly trips 51 weeks apart. This year, we are going August 10th through the 15th. Next year, we will travel during the first week of August so we get two trips out of one pass.

And, our plan is to start doing a fall trip every other year and we will do it on the years when we have the AP.

The clock would have started ticking on the upgraded annual pass from the date you first used the park hopper you started with as well, not when you upgraded it.

Thanks everyone. Now I know. I think I'll keep the 10 day passes and research what to do with our upcoming vacations. Thanks again. CanadianTom
