Snacks?

On your first day I honestly wouldn't use your TS credits for a QS meal, especially BOG, their prices are off the wall for breakfast even on the dining plan, LOL, plus you have dinner already scheduled there which in my opinion is sooo much better than breakfast!

Day six, Tonys gets a ton of mix reviews on here, we ate there last year and the lunch was just ok, the desert was really really good though, lol, and its also a cute restaurant. But MK also has Liberty Tree Tavern (AMAZING FOOD) and the Plaza as well that has pretty decent food but really good deserts.

As for your other dining stuff it looks awesome! We always get the deluxe plan and we never use all our snack credit while we are there, lol. You are eating so much food that you don't have the room for snacks, LOL. We used our snack credits on water and some snacks and then with the credits we didn't use we used on our last day and bought a whole bunch of snacks to take home with us. I believe the candy store in Disney Springs does the snack credit thing as well, so you might want to consider that when it comes to the snacks

We like the deluxe plan, and have used it for many trips; however, we add in many more 2 credit meals or shows. Trying to do 3 sit down meals is tough to space out, and a lot of food. I think you need to assume that you will not finish your meal until about 1.5 hours from your reservation time considering you may have to wait for a table. We find if we schedule 3 meals there is just not enough time in between and we are simply not hungry when it is time for the next meal.

Thanks for your input! :) We are doing BOG the first day for early entrance to the park. ;) And the fact it is next door to 7DMT.
We were at the Liberty Tree Tavern and although I REALLY liked it - my hubby thought it was the worst meal we went to the last time... which was also a 10-day DxDDP.

You're right - I was picking between Tony's and Plaza - we haven't tried either. I think the themeing at Tony's won out and the fact we are not going to Mama Melrose this time and my kids love pasta.

Last time we had SO MANY snack credit it was a SIN - we were almost waay overweight. We gave a lot away as gifts and we ended up with a few TS because we were so full that we actually cancelled a reservation.

I'm sure we'll do some beverages - great idea! And I was thinking maybe a trip to Goofy's Candy in DS for the make your own as they are included with the snack credits.

Yep - we did try to do several 2TS this time... more than we did the last time we came... mostly my kids want to do character dining though which are normally 1 credit. So we try to do as many themes as possible and stretch the time in-between where we can. My kids can be picky - and things like Artist Point are out. :( Also - we are trying to stay close to the parks this time with less resort hopping for dining. We didn't really enjoy the Spirit of Aloha dining, or we might have gone back for that 2TS meal.

Good point on timing. I've been budgeting between 75 - 90 mins for each meal - depending on where it is located and what I remember from last time... we'll be asking for the bill upfront as well to try and speed up the process.

We used to be really picky about what we were using our snack credits for, but then, like you, we would end up with so many left at the end. We now use them for water or other drinks even though we know it isn't the best value. With so many meals, we are rarely hungry for many snacks.

Kami Gori in Epcot is yummy and not filling for an afternoon snack. It's like a finely shaved snow cones, but the syrups are very good!! I love the melon!!

In Animal Kingdom next to Expedition Everest, there's a stand that has fruit, water, juice, nuts, some healthier choices. I love sweets, but after awhile I love having an Apple or a bottle of water!

In the magic kingdom have you gone to Starbucks on Main Street? They have some wonderful pastries! Also the ice cream shop!!! They have really cute kids cones!

Have a magical trip!!!

I will add all that info to my list!

Love the details of your plan and good use of the deluxe plan. We use DxDP as well and love it, but I have never planned out the snacks like you are doing, so I do find I have many left over at the end of the trip which I put towards candy/package treats to bring home. I love having a Disney snack at home a few months after our vacation to remind us of the good memories. I also think that when you're on the deluxe plan, you don't have to worry as much about "great value" for every snack credit. If I want to spend it on a bottle of water, I just do because I know I will have more than enough to cover all the great snack options that I could ever want. When you're on the regular plan, with less meal credits and needing to stretch your snack credits, then that's a different story.

Also, for the most part, I think the spacing between your 3 meals each day is pretty good, except for day 1, I would try to push that out about an hour, if you can. On your Epcot day, I definitely recommend Karamell Kuche (as you have planned) - I have no issue spending multiple credits in that place, love it!

So you think BOG at 5:10 should move to 6:10? I agree... I'm going to have to see what's available. :)

I hear you on the value of the Snack Credits... when you make good use of the meals - the plan pays for itself and the snacks are like bonuses! I keep hearing about all these yummy things to eat though and I want to make sure we don't miss them this time! :) It may be awhile before we are back.

I haven't been to Karamell before - is this a place where you might be able to box up some nice treats like at a chocolate shop to take home?

I have dreams about that place. :bounce:

You could box some up, there are several options that are like boxed chocolates (think truffles in little individual paper liner/cup thingies). Just take into account how hot it is, because they would end up a gooey mess in the heat before too long. But getting a box full on your way out would definitely work.

I actually use some of them for starbucks. Dining plan is a lot of food but we do signatures and characters and DH is a big fan of dining on vacation- apps flights of wine desserts the works so this fits the way we vacation. That said I would love to try some of the better value snacks we dont end up using them for too may of those during a week because nobody is really that hungry. A couple smaller treats here and there a small bag of caramel corn a dole whip etc. We often end up sharing. We do get some easy to travel treats from the bakery on the way out and take them to grandparents, house sitter or teachers as little extras. And honestly I get a couple to take home for us to prolong our trip a little.

Thanks... and right now BOG is completely booked for other supper times, but I'll keep checking.. :)

Thanks for your ideas... I would totally sue at Starbucks if I drank coffee, my hubby might like that - so I'll have to remember. :) And I hear you on the snack credits... we barely used them last time because we were so full!!!!! I like the idea of boxing up chocolates from Epcot - because the pre-bagged snacks (although a couple are great) end up weighing sooo much and we are flying home... it was nearly an extra bag... mind you Air Canada now offers three free bags to military (me) and veterans (hubby), so we should not have ANY overages this time!!!! :)

I just finished a week at the mouse and I'm in camp Starbucks to use up some of those credits. Whether it's quick service or snack. 3 coffees will definitely add up to more than $15 and go and get the Venti sizes. Also remember you can use the "kids" QS towards adult QS

Hi! We are making our second trip back after only 10 months from our first trip. This time we purchased the Deluxe Dining Plan and I thought I understood the way it works but I was wondering if someone could lay it all out for me? Do all of the meals have to "table service" or 'Quick Service" or can you mix and do breakfast as a table service, lunch at a quick service and dinner at table service? I would really appreciate it if someone could break it down for me.

Jlee, what you have written you would like to do is totally possible on the DxDDP... ANY credit can be used at any time for QS or TS for any meal. Some meals (all signature and a few character (but not all) dining experiences) are 2 TS. They will be marked as such on the Disney Site. You cannot use them towards Dining with an Imagineer, or a Dessert Party etc, but they can be used towards Hollywood and Vine or Mama Melrose Fantasmic! Packages, Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, Hoop Dee Do, Mickey's Backyard BBQ and a few others.

If you want to skip a meal some day (make a breakfast out of snack credits for example), you can 'save' that meal for a 2TS credit meal... like at California Grill, or Cinderella's Royal Table.

You can use what you've been given in Dining and Snacks credits equally each day, or pool them. You can also spilt a dining credit into 3 snack credits. (But you cannot do the reverse.)

Each meal includes an appetizer, main course, dessert and a drink.

A few things that aren't covered include: most specialty kids drinks with the take home cups, (I think milkshakes ARE covered, but they may fall under dessert?) alcohol (although included at Hoop Dee Do and MBYBBQ,) and gratuity.

Apparently, many of the restaurants will now allow you to switch your dessert for a soup, salad or small appy - but I am not 100% on those ins and outs.

Snack credits cover 100s of snacks, but not all: Mini donuts, family-sized sundaes, Turkey Legs, waffles with ice cream (except at Oasis Canteen in DHS), I'm sure there are many others - but menus, or the board in the restaurant or in the items case will list what is included.

However snack credits can be anything from packaged candy, special candy apples, popcorn, drinks, Mickey Ice Cream Bars, Carrots and Celery, apple slices, yogurt, sushi, sundaes, funnel cake, french fries, nachos, specialty cupcakes, make your own candy at Goofy's Candy... huge variety!

It is A LOT of food, and it really is imperative you have ADRs... preferable made 180's out, because it can be super hard to walk up to a TS restaurant and be seated. What I've listed above is already reserved.

It also makes sense to space out your meals (so much food) and try not to break up the morning too much since that is prime touring time.

Right now, for our family - the DxDDP is the BOMB... we don't spend time in lines waiting for characters since we do so many at the meals, we love the variety of food, it gets us out of the sun and forces us to find time to sit down. This is preferable to us that going back to the resort midday as my kids would not nap. Our last trip, the service everywhere (except Wolfgang Puck) was amazing! Which is why we are doing it again.

I'm happy to answer any other questions if you have them. I've tried many of the most popular restaurants, with kids, and I love working the ADRs to get what we want. ;)

We've done the DxDDP several times and it does work well for us. Though on the last couple of trips, we've found that we can eat the same way but pay OOP and it's significantly cheaper. We actually do NEED 3 TS meals every day though. If I try to cheat and do a lighter meal, DH is "starving" again within an hour, lol! We just space them out appropriately so that they double as good breaks.

For most restaurants, 90min is a good average. From your list, Teppan Edo and CRT are the only ones we've done that took longer. Tony's Boma, Cape May, Y&Y, and H&V are usually under an hour for us.

We don't tend to snack much in the parks as long as we are eating TS meals all day. So when we did the DxDDP, I would use most of my snack credits on stuff to bring home. The packaged treats in the store last several months, and it's fun to be able to keep the magic going for a while at home.

Thanks for the info on the timings for a few of those restaurants... a few are new to us! :)
