I feel your pain. We only have to make up a certain number of snow days built into the calendar, but our state leg. has a decision to make soon about adding a couple more days to our calendar this June!:scared:

Our govenor has decided to cut millions out of the education budget, all the while making comments that he wants to make teachers responsible for what scores their students test at. Unfortunately he doesn't take into consideration the huge migrant population, the even larger EL population, and the special ed population. Doesn't seem fair to me.

I was surprised how laid back I was last fall when I coached the football team. I'm usually very competitive (go figure, right) and it didn't come out.

The boys played great together and listened to me when we needed to make changes. I think we just gelled so well, it was an easy time.

We have the small town problem. Everyone knows everyone and positions to get their kid on "the" team. The political who's who is always at play. THe muckety mucks stack their team and put a couple of token, quiet "nobodies" on it to justify themselves. We just try to stay out of the mess and let our DD and DS play. (I know that sounds cynical but it has been happening for years!)

DD is finally old enough to play on the one school teams now. She is decent but always sweats through tryouts. She finds out tomorrow whether she made the softball team. This sounds mean but we keep trying to count girls to see if the cut will go deep enough to get her.:sad1:

not bloody likley.:rotfl2: ever since i lost my hair and got that scar she wont leave me alone.:rotfl2:

Mike, you're really dedicated to the DIS. After all, you're typing while sleeping because you're in dreamland. :rotfl: (j.k.)

NCLB--same boat! While "they" play the numbers testing game, our students suffer. We're currently getting trained on all these new initiatives without the materials to implement. We're afraid that since we're trained the teachers will be blamed when the iniative doesn't work miracles. Our principal is wonderful and gets us what she can, but that's as far as our support goes. (Our last trainer got $6,000 per day plus travel $. I googled her and found out much more about her fancy horse farm than her reading expertise!) :sad2: :guilty: :sad2:

I promise not to vent anymore tonight!:goodvibes

I DIS with you guys to have fun! and put a smile on my face!;)

Just thinking about the cruise and going to WDW makes me happy!:hippie:

Good luck to your DD. Hope she makes the team. Let us know.

O.K., gotta go crunch some numbers for people.

Talk to y'all tomorrow.

I will try to get back into goofyfreak's good graces!

I hadn't seen my gorgeous sis since before Christmas: she is beautiful! I have always thought so, but since joining the BOBalosers, she looks as good now as before the last two babies! Maybe even younger!:lovestruc

:woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2: :cheer2: :woohoo: :woohoo:

First, thanks to all of you who continue to ask about my dad and Spencer.

My dad is coming home on Saturday! :yay: The nursing home decided that there is nothing further they can do for him and that he has improved enough to come home!!   (And the fact that Medicare won't pay for him to be there anymore). :goodvibes Chuck and Tony are going to set everything up for him tonight. Hospital bed, additional railings for the basement stairs, & walker ramp outside. He is so excited to finally come home. He never thought he'd ever see his house again. Now we just have to get him to move from that lousy neighborhood they live in.

Spencer is also going home on March 11th. :yay: He still has a few problems from the brain injuries but again, Medicade is done paying his way too. He will be on permanent disability too. He has come such a long way and looks so much better. He lost 65 pounds after the accident and put 70 back on since Christmas!! He never wants to ride motorcycle again. The outline of his body is still on the street where the accident happened. They must have used paint instead of chalk. He also said he will NEVER drive past that spot...ever!! He will live with his mom at an apartment (she moved out of her house because of the recent attack/burglary) until July and will move with her to Arizona then.

Thanks again for all your pm's everyone, the thoughts, prayers, and dust stuff and for all of you who contributed to the making of his cd's. He absolutely loved them all. :lovestruc

:grouphug: :grouphug: From us to all of you! :grouphug: :grouphug:

That is all great news. Feel free to pass our info onto Spencer and his mother if they need anything while they are in AZ.

Angelina is like our DS. I don't think he knows how good he's got it.

I'd say we shouldn't go so often, but that just means I don't get to go either.

I know - I get waaay more excited about it than Ellis!:rolleyes1

Hey, on our noon news I saw a segment about a playground for "Seniors" in the UK, Karen, do you know anything about that??? ;)

Are you calling me old!!!!!!!!!!:scared1: :lmao: - yes I did see it. They are even introducing wii into old peoples homes to get them active!

The year was 1973.

Mike was 16 and I was 18.
