I thought I would share a quick feel good story. A beloved veteran teacher (30+ years in elem. P.E. and lead teacher) had an aneurism last year and lost most of his leg. His insurance wouldn't pay for the expensive leg he needed in order to come back to work and he retired (he could have for some time). His doctor appealed the decision three times. When our community found out when we all came back to school this year, a committee to raise funds formed immediately. Today was Mr. C day.

The honor society that I sponsor at our middle school was in charge of the carwash. We washed 2 and 3 cars at a time from 9-12!!! The kids were great. There were several other activities going on. The biggest was a walk-a-thon. The whole community participated in one way or another.

We reached our goal of $25,000 for the new prosthesis. He'll be able to play golf again and enjoy his retirement!:grouphug:

What a Heart Warming story, thanks for sharing that Tanya....:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

You guys do know that there are sweet martinis, right? And in my opinion, the best martinis are made with vodka, not gin.

I've had chocolate martinis, espresso martinis, pomegranate martinis, lemon drop martinis, creme brulee martinis, cosmopolitans which are made with cranberry juice, and perhaps my favorite ... the French martini which is similar to a cosmo but includes champagne.

If there isn't any interest in doing this then we should just drop it - it's no big deal to me. I was thinking of submitting a list of requested drinks to try that were all vodka based and included a mix of fruity martinis and cream based martinis which I thought might be more palatable to everyone. The martini tasting we did in Diversions a few years ago was really good- five small tasting portions for $15 and it was a mix like I just mentioned.

Instead of setting up something specific for the group why don't we just plan on an hour or two where those who are interested meet up at Diversions and order their own tasting? Then the folks who don't want the drinks but who might want to socialize can come too.

Just a thought. :goodvibes
I'm up for that, I'm w/you, I only like Vodka, no gin for me.

Thank you all for the anniversary wishes!! No Jonas Brothers consert tonight thank goodness :lmao: Actually Al and I have a date tonight, we are going out to dinner just the 2 of us for a change and maybe to a movie, I have to check what movies are playing. My niece called yesterday and asked Rachel if she could come over tonight for a sleepover. I think I have my sister-in-law to thank for that, she knows we don't go out very often without Rachel and she and my brother have been trying to get out on "dates" more often without their kids so she I'll have to thank her tonight when we drop Rach off.

;) :cloud9:

Terrific!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY CHERYL AND AL!
