10/23/11 - Disney Dream

:welcome: new people!!

Is there an FE started in this group yet? If so, we'd love to join; magnet exchange too. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Cheers,
Jessica

I'm organizing the FE. Here's what you need to know:

Anyone who wants to participate in the FE, please PM me with the following:

Subject: Dream FE
Disname
Cabin number (or TBA if not yet assigned)
First name, fellow travelers' names and relationship (DH, DD, DS, friend, etc.)
Ages of children (ages of adults are optional)
Anything you are celebrating
Any allergies, esp. food allergies

Be sure you put "Dream" in the subject, so I know you're on this trip and not the WBTA.

If anyone needs info on FE's, here are some posts you can peruse. (Thanks to karentan over on the WBTA thread, from whom I stole these!:thumbsup2)

FE basics
fish extender info
instructions for the no sew FE
handmade FE gift ideas
other FE gift ideas

As people sign up and the date gets closer, we'll see how many we have. If the list gets long, we can talk about splitting it up. There were only 10 cabins participating on our last trip so it was really easy to get to everyone.

If anyone thinks of anything else I should include, please let me know.

We both love Disney and had a Disney themed 'at home' wedding. We'll actually have been married for 2 years and 6 days when we set sail! I am a long time Disney Store Cast Member (I started there in 1999 and I'm still there now!) and I worked at WDW for a few months in 2002 and 2003. We both love anything Disney!

We, too, had a Disney-esque wedding. We got married in Orlando, where I grew up and my family still lives, at a little church that my DH loves. It was just my family and a couple of friends. DH wore a tux with a Mickey embellished bow tie and cummerbund. I had Mickey earrings and a necklace with little Mickey heads on it. We all went to 1900 Park Fare for dinner and I had special ordered a cake - with our unique touches. We took this cruise for our honeymoon, and our 1st anniversary. We'll be celebrating #2, too!

This was our cake. The piping on the side matched the embellishment on my dress.

And this is us. (That's my dad in the background going, "Cut the cake, already!") You can sort of see DH's tie and cummerbund. Oh, and I made my dress, hat, and purse.

Yep. I guess this makes us Disney nerds! :rotfl:

Isn't it great being Disney nerds!!!!! :)

Hey everyone! We are also going on the Dream!! My Fiance (who will be my :lovestruc Husband :lovestruc when we set sail) And my mom and Dad (we are taking them as a "Thank You" for helping with the wedding)

This is our First cruise and we are SUPER excited. I'm really interested in doing the whole FE thing. Let me know if I can be involved!! Thanks!:cool1:

PFlamingo! I LOVE your wedding pictures! Especially the "bite" out of your cake! What a fabulous detail!

So, I should do a better job of introducing myself and those I'm cruising with!

I am Sarah (29) Huge Disney fan, Went on my 16th trip to WDW last October, this will be my first cruise. :lovestruc Getting married this June to....

Dave (28) a first time cruiser, and last October was his First trip to Disney World. (now he finds hidden Mickeys everywhere and Tells all our friends to go to WDW, and we'll go along to babysit their kids so they can have a night out alone haha)

Like I said earlier, we are taking my parents (Walt and Jan) with us. They REALLY deserve an amazing vacation after helping us with this whole wedding shindig. They have never been on a cruise, or on any vacation outside the US (other than Montreal, but we lived less than two hours away!)

Now I really need to get to work on buying some "acceptable" cruise attire for my dad, otherwise he'll pack his cutoff jean shorts :scared1:(he made them himself haha) and black sneakers with white socks....he really used to be so cool...

I didn't even notice that! All I saw was the Mickey and Minnie cake topper! What a great addition!!!

What an exciting time for you! I loved getting everything together for our wedding! Are you having any Disney elements in your wedding?

Not too much, Disney is more MY thing, so it's actually an Old time baseball theme (because we are both HUGE baseball fans, and love anything vintage) haha BUT our card box is going to be like the Mailbox in UP with our names and hand prints on it :) We're also playing some Disney music during cocktail hour and the reception!

Hi Sarah,

I find that a good pair of shorts (I tend to use the cargo version for all the pockets), one nice pair of pants (for dinners as they frown on shorts, especially in Palo's & Remy's) works for me. Lately, I found some Champion sport shirts that are cool, look nice enough for dinner and are extremely light (great for packing). I also tend to wear only Crocs on the ship and have a black Disney pair just for dinners (even wore them with my Tux and to Remy's, no complaints, some smiles), I did wear black socks with them-no bare feet. All in all, one should be able to get a week's worth in a carry-on if wanted. Since there are two of us that means only one suitcase. We, typically, split into two suitcases as my wife tends to buy things in the stores (I help at times, ). This allows us back home within the weight limits.

So, my final clothing is 1-cargo shorts, 1-swimsuit, 1- black slacks, 1-long cargo pants, 1-sleeveless shirt for Castaway/pool, 3-4 nice Champion/Nike/polo shirts, 2pr of Crocs, 1-Pirates outfit, 1-Tux? (Tux/Pirate tend to use the same pants, shirt, socks, only the accessories change) , 1-2 pr socks, and of course an daily count of skivvies. Some of this stuff is even what I wear on travel day (longs pants, shirt, jacket). Cruises are easy, casual, times. Who cares if you wear the same short/shirt a couple of days at a time and laundries are nearby.

My wife packs about the same but swaps out dresses for tux and adds another pair of nice shoes (which are still Crocs, comfy & light). We add a few T-Shirts along the way from purchases at the stores and on excursions so no need to over pack clothes.

We also bring our own water bottles for the Drink stations and lanyards to carry them with, I tend to bring the 24oz while Holly brings the 18oz. Came in handy on the Dream MV when they ran out of the MV glasses we just filled our containers with the Champagne (24+18 = 42oz) which was more than the glasses held. Had plenty to share at Dinner.

Welcome!!! We are in Littleton :). Glad to have fellow Coloradans on the cruise with us!!!

Oh, wow. We're actually in the Tech Center, it's just easier to call it Denver. That's great, and thanks for the welcome.

Since all I've done lately is rave about our last Disney cruise, we had extended family that wanted to join us on this trip, but when they looked into reservations, all that was left were concierge rooms. Hard to believe the dream is twice as big & can sell out nearly a year from sailing.

I'm already excited, the Dream is the topic of our family's dinner conversation most evenings!

Thank you!!! My dad will like the fact that he doesn't have to bring much (this is a guy who could pack all his stuff for a weeks vacation in a target bag) haha I just need to buy him some decent shorts and shirts. He's set as far as formal night goes. :laundy: My fiance and mother are also capable of packing "light" I on the other hand.... haha :rolleyes1

Hello All,

We just booked our trip yesterday. This will be our second Disney cruise and our first time on the Dream.

I kind of wanted to do a 7-day cruise this time, but the new ship and the Aquaduck for the girls (12 & 17) kind of made this one a better choice :thumbsup2

Woohoo, another Colorado family. I think with us, the two families we are sailing with, then now you and the other family on here, we have quite a few of us from Colorado. We may need to have a meet in Denver sometime before the cruise .

Welcome to all the new members!!!

Hello to all the new cruisers. Looks like a lot have hopped on since I last stopped by.

I'm Jeff traveling with my DW Suz and our DS who is 11.

Thanks for the info! Although I doubt that I'm capable of packing that light. My DH probably will pack like that. I guess we're also used to traveling with young children and bringing a few extra items so that we have something clean when the inevitable spill occurs! :lmao: it'll be strange to NOT have to worry about that! (Although both DH and I have been known to spill, too!)

I'm also using this cruise as a practice run for when we take the crew on the podcast cruise in June, 2012!

Just Looking on the DCL website. Looks like all the Inside and Oceanview cabins are sold out. Lowest Category is now 5D.

Tell me about it.

I switched out of my 9A corner a few weeks ago to an 8C. I couldn't get the same room at first, but about two weeks ago one opened up and I was able to snag it for both cruises. So now we don't have to change rooms.

I was looking at possibly doing one of those 8A rooms with the double portholes if we had to change rooms just to try it out.

It was nerve racking though when we switched initially. Rooms would show up and then disappear. There had been a lot of 6A and 6B, but those are gone now too. Looks like we may have a pretty full ship.

I thought you might move out of the corner room. I'm glad that you were able to swap out. I didn't look far enough to see that lack of 6A and 6B's. You're right we'll be full!
