10/23/11 - Disney Dream

Yep, everyone getting excited here now. With the Holidays over were now able to start thinking about it.

I understand about the school thing. Stu's in 4th grade now and there's a lot more work. I cringe when I think about next Oct. He'll be out for 8 school days! I'll have to really work with him to get all that work done.

DS is in 5th this year. We have pulled him 7 days already this year. It is getting harder as he gets older. We do all his homework before we leave so he's ahead rather than behind when we get back.

Not sure if we'll pull him any more days next year other than for the cruise.

We are in Lake Saint Louis, we moved here 4 years ago from Chicago. Do you still live in MO?

Nope, I'm in Georgia now, slowly working my way back to Orlando (born and raised!). Columbia was such a great town for grad school - except for the snow that the Chamber of Commerce denied falling every winter!

Well, the Dream is scheduled to be in Port Canaveral tomorrow! Can't wait to sail on her - October is so far off, though!

I have already been working on some FE stuff. I am finding some really cute stuff for the kids. Is it October yet? I hope everyone's holiday was magical!!!

We've got our stash started, too :). At least we can start saying that the cruise is this year now :yay:.

Yeah, October can't come soon enough. Wish we were sailing this month.

Our first cruise was 6 years ago this month. That first cruise was magical. I remember all the excitement leading up to the cruise.

DW has been eying items for FE. I guess that means we will be participating. Will confirm for sure in the next couple of months.

It will be here before we know it.

May need to sneak a trip to WDW in between now and then.

We wanted to sneak in a trip in March, but I don't think we will be able to swing it :(.

We were looking at March too (DS has a week off), but were just there in December and there are other places less expensive.

We may look to do something late summer or over Labor Day weekend (which is usually slow down there).

We went over Labor Day this past Sept to celebrate my birthday. The crowds were pretty low but it was HOT and humid.

It is hot at that time of year, but at least you can use the pools and waterparks. We usually also go in Feb for DS's b-day, but going in the water can be hit or miss that time of year. Heck we were there this past Dec and you couldn't use the pools. I told DW that I'd rather be in the MK sweating than being there freezing.

Can anybody tell me about the dining times. I understand main and late, but what is early show and late show, I am scheduled for main dining, 5pm show-what show are they taking about? We would usually eat and then go for a few drinks and then the show.

There are 3 showtimes on the Dream instead of the two we're used to on the Magic and Wonder. I forget what the times are exactly.. I guess the earliest one is that 5 p.m. one you're assigned to. They randomly assigned us to that time, paired with our late dinner at about 8:30. We got our show time changed to the middle time because otherwise our baby would have to be in the nursery for something like 5 hours in order for us to take an evening to go to dinner and a show without her.

We signed up for FE, it is our first time doing it. How much are you planning? Do we just drop off one night/ everynight? How do you know how many people to plan for? Thanks for the advice, would love to get a jump start!

Okay, I know we are 9 months out, but I am a planner and I'd like to start thinking about FE stuff. Is anyone graphically talented or experienced and willing to make a cruise graphic for our cruise? ;)

This is my first time organizing an FE, so I'm kind of going by what we did on our cruise last October (our first time participating). At some point, we'll cut off the sign-up to give everyone a chance to finished getting their stuff together. I think our cut-off was Sept 1st, but we can set it earlier than that, if everyone thinks that's better. After the cut-off, I'll post the final list, with stateroom numbers, names, and ages/gender of children.

The drop off pattern was up to each person. Some people on our last trip did goodie bags and distributed just one day. We did a small thing each day. We also gave a small thing to each person in the cabin, but others did a larger gift, for everyone in the cabin to share. Again, I think it's up to you. Remember, "the code is more what you'd call guidelines than actual rules." (Thank you, Captain Barbosa! pirate:) Everyone just dropped off their stuff at their convenience - we didn't have assigned days or anything like that.

Everyone wanted to know ages/gender of the children because some of us had "girly" and boy things and wanted to be sure everyone got the appropriate items. So far, we have 10 cabins signed up. There are 4 girls, ages 16 mos, 3, 4, & 7 yrs. There are 3 boys, ages 4, 10, & 12 yrs, and 2 young men, 17, celebrating their HS graduation.

Depending on how many cabins we get signed up, we may end up splitting the list. We only had 10 or 12 cabins total last October, so we all distributed to the entire list. But I heard the WBTA cruise last year had something like 50 cabins, so they broke it up into a couple of lists.

As I said, this is my first time organizing, so I'm open to suggestions about how everyone wants to do this.

And remember, if you haven't sent me a PM and received a reply from me, you're not on the list! (I'll need disboard name, names of travelers and relationship (DH, DS, DD, etc.), ages of children (adult ages optional), any allergies we should be aware of, and any celebrations you'd like to share with us. Please put "Dream FE" in the subject.)

No talent at all in that arena. Maybe someone else here?

No talent here either, but do we have a nickname for our cruise? It may help whomever volunteers to design something to work around.

Hi everyone, I've been lurking on this thread for a week or so and though we are not official yet, I plan on booking this cruise in about 2 weeks. We recently came back from our first cruise of any kind on the Wonder and I fell in love and so did DH. So much so that he's the one who wants me to book this cruise and already has the time off from work. There are only three of us, DH Daniel (46), DD Heather (21 on this cruise) and myself Linda (50-ish) We can't wait to sail on the Dream and plan on doing MNSSHP before the cruise. I am also a DISigner here on the Creative DISign thread. If you like you can take a look at my work on my 4shared site.(the link is in my siggie) I am actively creating designs for the Dream as well as everything else Disney and otherwise. Can't wait to meet you all and we would love to join in in the FE exchange. We had a great time making a lot of goodies and delivering them as well as receiving them. Take care. See you on the boards.:goodvibes

Sometimes I come up with a good idea, if anyone has an Idea for a theme, I can try. BTW, the "Cruise to Neverland" Graphic is something I modified, I'll not take credit for the original pic.

Thanks Steve.

As for theme, what about something having to do with Dreams or Dreaming? Maybe have the graphics with Mickey dreaming with a picture of the Dream and a map of the itinerary?

Now if you worked around something along the lines of "wildest Dreams", you could have the characters having a party.

I'm not the best with this stuff, so if anyone wants to step in, that'd be great.
