I looked on the dcl website and noticed that the prices have not gone up like they normally do this close to the cruise. :confused3

When I called to upgrade our room they told me that the ship is not even 3/4 full yet. They told me that is why all the good rooms on the upper decks in the middle are still avaliable. :thumbsup2

We also got everything we wanted. Including the 11:00-11:30 check in time.

Hooray!!! :yay: I think it's kind of cool that the ship is only 3/4 full. It will be especially nice on Castaway Cay :thumbsup2

Hey all. Double ocho to go, and we're getting really excited. Just booked our flights and hotel stays for the nights before and after the cruise. So, we're completely booked, paid in full, and ready to go! Now we just have to wait out the last few days until the cruise rezzies are open to us.

I see the stargazing meet up that I suggested is still listed as TBD. So, I had a look at the calendar and see that the new moon falls on the evening of Oct. 26. That's the day we'll be in St. Thomas, but we're only there until 3:30pm (Boooo! I want more time in USVI!). On that Wednesday night, sunset is 5:51pm and astronomical twilight is 7:04pm. So, I would recommend a stargazing meet-up any time after 7pm. I see there are no other meet-ups listed on the schedule on Page 1 for this day. So, I hope this would be a good night. Let me know if it's not a good night. Next, I have to figure out where we should meet on the ship. I want to find a spot that will be relatively dark and shielded from the ship's lights as much as possible. The darkest spot on the ship would be somewhere in front of the bridge, but I don't know how much access there would be to that area for cruise guests. Also, it's usually pretty darn windy up front. Another potential area I've read about is some "secret" Deck 7 Aft. I have seen a few pictures of this area on the boards, and it looks like it would be pretty nice. I still plan to ask around before and after we get on board to see if there is anything special the crew can do to enhance any stargazing activities. I'll keep y'all posted.

So do they ever upgrade rooms after they are assigned? Or, do they leave a bunch of good cabins open?

Happy with our room but always happy with an upgrade :)

And, back from Wisconsin. Race was great - tough but lots of fun!! I was even wearing a red shirt :)

I know where that is but I'm not sure how to get there. On our last cruise one of our DISers got married back there.

Yes, they do upgrade rooms after they've been assigned. Wait to see what happens after the final payment date has passed, which I believe is 75 days out. We got upgraded once around 2 weeks before the cruise (that's a REALLY good story if you ever want to hear it :lmao:)

Oh Mikey, do you still have those stolen deckhand overalls? :scared1: If anyone has a secret port hole room, you might want to keep it covered ;)

I want more time in St. Thomas too! Not so excited about St. Maarten, but have too many things to do in St. Thomas. What night is Pirate Night? I know I should know by now, but I don't.:confused3 Also, we have late dining, so how late is a good time?

We just got upgraded from a 4b to a 4a for $148. They are letting people upgrade for a small fee now. She told me the the people who do not have a room number might get the next round of upgrades then after that then she said it is up to the senior management on if and who they will upgrade. Probably the people who are willing to pay extra will always be able to upgrade. Who knows.:confused3

I am glad I got a talkative person. She gave alot of information.

We got upgraded on our last cruise. Had booked a Cat 12 GTY, got allocated Cat 12 but got upgraded to Cat 9s just before the cruise.

Amen to that :wizard:

Pirate night is the Tuesday, I think (the day we are at St Maarten) - night 4. I'm sure someone else will correct me if I'm wrong

We were discussing whether to try and upgrade (currently in a sideways 11B) but thought we would wait and see if we get a free upgrade first and then, if not, we will try and upgrade at Port.

Pirate Night is fun! pirate: Mickey dresses up in his pirate outfit for pictures and there is a special Pirate Night menu, which is the same in all restaurants except Palo. pirate: The servers dress up like pirates and so do a lot of the passengers. There is a special deck party, Pirates IN the Caribbean, and it all ends with fireworks!

as Walt Disney said...If we can Dream it..We can do it!!:cloud9:

That's right Mikey - you are welcome to do it - we will watch popcorn:: Melissa's pictures also had some very hunky guys covered in mud. Perhaps you could organize 'The Muddy Men of the Parley' one night? popcorn:::love:

b/t/w where do you get mud in the middle of the Caribbean? :confused3

This I believe could be a rather interesting cruise. A whole lotta fun and we may not ever want to leave. I can't wait!!!

Crystal ;)
