So after watching all of the 7 in 7 videos on Disneyland, I am looking at making the trip out for the 60th anniversary. I have only been to WDW so all of this in a little new for me. In looking at the week of 10/17-10/24, a lot of the good neighbor hotels seem to be booked or somewhat full. The Hilton and Sheraton near the convention center are both showing no rooms, even though the convention center website is showing no conventions that week. That makes me worry that the park will be full. Does anyone know if that week is a bad choice? My dates are flexible and we (family of 4, 2 adults and 2dds 19 & 15) could go anytime. Would you recommend another week in Oct or Nov? Or different time all together?

I also would't be opposed to upgrading at least one ticket to a premier passport if something with an AP rage opened up on property. Right now it looks like the difference in packages between the Disneyland hotel and a good neighbor hotel is around $3,000.

Thanks

You could try calling the hotel directly to see if they're holding a block of rooms for something. Since your kids are older you could always look further out as you can stay in the parks longer without going back to the room midday. HoJo and Candy Cane Inn, which are two of the frequently recommended walking distance hotels are both available. Here's a recent thread about the previous week. The CHOC walk part won't apply, but it has some advice about October entertainment schedules and planning.
