Morning Everyone.

Sue--- Have a great cruise.

Peter--- Two trips to Florida in one month, aren't you lucky.

Enough with winter, I am so ready for spring. Our driveway is a sheet of ice after the last snow/rain/sleet episode on Sunday. From the weather forcast it doesn't look like it is going to warm up anytime this week.

I just booked our flights for May on Air Tran on Sunday night. Good thing we did as the rates went up on Monday. Lately, Air Tran has been cheaper than Southwest. Plus Air Tran doesn't penalize you for 1 way since we are flying into Fl. Lauderdale, but departing from Orlando. Also, made reservations for Pop Century. No AP rates out yet, so may end up changing resorts after those no codes come out.

Fionna and Arlene-- I just hate the dentist. It took me over 2 years to make up my mind to get a crown for a broken tooth. The tooth didn't bother me and put it off a long as I could. Finally just did it this fall right before the cruise. We are lucky that we have 2 dental insurance policies so between the 2 of them it covers the majority of our dental care needs. Fionna, does your medical insurance cover the oral surgeon. I know that with wisdom teeth extraction that came under my medical insurance.

I won't decide if we are staying at the Radisson until I get my airfare for the Oct trip. If we get the late flight down, may just stay at the Hyatt at the airport. In Dec, with delays we never got to MCO until after midnight and would be so handy just to sleep right at the airport. Have plenty of time to decide.

Have a great day.

Nancy

Hi Guys, Kim Here...

If I am still employed then we are hopefully planning on the cruise then stay at Disney until Thursday then leave for home.
Right now the plan is that we are going to drive down, if that happens then we will go right to the port hotel area, if we only do the cruise then we will fly and most likely spend the night at the Hyatt again, it was very convenient last year to stay there.
So in other words we have no idea what the heck we are doing...

Mike, any info on the get together for cherry blossoms in Washington DC ?? Again, if still working I will have lots of vacation time so we can plan on driving down for a few days for the Diser get together...

Better get back to the lab, I have a service tech here working on a piece of equipment and you need to keep a close eye on these guys, this equipment MFG charges for everything, on one invoice they once charged us for mileage, gas, and transportation... Huh ??? I was not born yesterday.....

Bye, Kim

peter:

i hope you can put up with andys snoring. he practically wakes the dead. my best sleep nights is when he sleeps in the recliner in the living room due to his bad back.

arlene

Peter -- like the smilies!! Although it is decidedly unfair that you are going to Florida twice this month while some of us are freezing. They are actually saying that it feels colder this year because we don't have as much snow as we usually do which insulates the ground and makes it feel warmer. Regardless it's cold.

Feeling better today so hopefully that will continue.

Nancy our medical coverage I think would have covered the extraction if I'd have had to go into the hospital for it. Pretty much everything is covered medically here except for drugs outside of the hospital. For drug coverage and dental coverage you can have private insurance usually through your job. My dental coverage is great for regular stuff -- it's 100% coverage for cleanings, fillings etc. but doesn't cover specialist treatment. I was told that it would cover up to what a regular dentist would charge but wouldn't cover the extra that a specialist would charge which is ok by me. The prescriptions are all covered under my drug coverage which again is 100%. The best part is that I don't actually have to pay anything for the benefits with the way that the plan is set up here at work. The staff have to pay but the lawyers don't. Took me a while to figure this out and is an unusual perk because my brother (also a lawyer) has to pay for his benefits and he's only 80% covered. It all varies from work place to work place.

Now here's a question -- what the heck is the difference between a caucus (as in Iowa) and a primary (like in New Hampshire)?

Kim -- keep employed as we'd really miss you on the cruise!!

Fiona

Fiona...here is your history lesson for today....in shortened terms...a primary is where voters simply go into the polling place/voting booth and cast their ballot for a particular candidate (usually their mind is already made up) A caucus is like a town hall meeting where people all meet up at either a public place or someone's home and hear speeches about the candidates and discuss the candidates before they actually vote for a candidate--this form would tend to sway someone who still isn't sure who they are going to vote for!! IMHO, if you've ever been to Iowa (and who would have a reason to go there??) or the northern part of Missouri (we have been here) there is not a heck of alot of anything going on in these towns so on a cold winter night in Iowa, why not get together for a fun gathering probably with food since there is nothing else to do!! Sorry if I've offended any people from Iowa!! When we were in Joplin Missouri (near Iowa border), it was miles between towns and forget about finding any restaurants or shopping...we finally found a Wal-Mart and thought that we had died and gone to heaven!!!

Both primaries and caucus' are where the candidates pick up delegates to the Democratic Convention (or Republican if Bush had any opposition)

Sue, have a great time!

Don, sorry to hear Josh will not be joining us! DS will be disapointed:(

Eric, I picked us some tourist info while I was out this weekend. I will send it off to you soon.

Florida resident rate...we have a house in Florida, but can't get the discount because they asked for a drivers licence. Since SC requires we have a state licence within 60 days of moving here, we had to give up Florida resident status:(
If all I have to show is a Florida address on a mortage payment, maybe we CAN get it???

Thanks, Mary :wave2: Looking forward to it. I just ordered a guidebook called "The Old South" at Amazon.de, but I think the real planing will start after our return from England.

I think it is fair that we get to go ...... to Florida again

Arlene I could sleep threw the sinking of the Titanic......

anybody going to be in florida at the end of the month

we r going to get in touch with a couple that we met on the cruise at our table for dinner and he also works at Disney..
and go to propety central.. that is a disney store for disney employees only where they bring all the other stuff.... they dont want anymore... for example old xmas decorations and such...

should be fun... they live just South of disney...

We r also going to hook up with SHIRLEY we have to have a special honeymoon basket made for My BIL.
and thought we would take a ride down to see her... she is a sweet heart.... to give her some of the stuff to put in the basket...
So when they go on there honeymoon cruise they will have there own personalised basket ..... with the stuff they like ....
and we r also going to Fed ex. there wedding picture
down so it will be in the basket ...

Peter

HI Everyone,

Love the idea of swapping hubbys! But does that mean I get George in my room (without veranda) and Mary get's my hubby (with veranda)???
Mary, You should check into the morgage thing. Might save you some $.
Kim, Glad to hear you're still working.
Don and Colleen, Sorry that Josh won't be joining us. Guess you'll have to have all that room by yourselves. :(
Fiona, glad you're feeling better.:teeth:

Got off early today and got so much done! Mailed packages to Rellingtwin and Alikatt. Sent Fed Ex to USAA for refinanceing of van. Brought DD to the orthodontist. Went food shopping, picked up DS from after school care, and started dinner! Whew! Hope I don't get off early tomorrow, it's easier to stay at work. LOL

:wave2: Hi to all you lurkers. I know you're out there.:wave2:

Later, Ave'

Wow, Ave' you've been very busy. Lenny just went to the store and took Hurricane Haley with him so I'd have some peace and quiet. The only thing is now the house seems TOO quiet. Guess I can't win. Now the cat is yelling at me about something. Guess she thinks it's too quiet too.

Oh well. Talk to you guys later.

Eric, could you please e-mail me your snail-mail address. I thought I had it, but can't seem to find it:confused: I will also give your address to the Charleston Tourist Center. They should keep your mail box full!

I also went grocery shopping. We have been out of EVERYTHING for about 5 days! The kids didn't even have cereal! (shame on me!:p )

Ave, I'm not sure the Fl resident rate is worth the hassle!I think you saved $20.00 last year??How about you and I get the Verhanda and George Mark and all 4 kids get the cabin without???

I have looked into the new RonJon resort at the port, but I think we are going to stick with the Radisson. The $70 savings we get by being allowed to keep the car there, almost covers the cost of the room.

ANYONE ELSE THINK KIM NEEDS HER OWN SCREEN NAME???

I had a good laugh today, we were talking about the weather at work and everyone was complaining about how COLD it was this morning (33 degrees!)Of course it warmed up to 54 for most of the day. Add to that, the fact that "Winter" is only 6 weeks long and I have to laugh when I hear the complaints!Spring is just a few weeks away. We usually start our vegatable garden (panting seeds inside in pots) the 1st of Feb, them move them outdoors at the end of Feb.
I know I couldn't survive living in the North again. My "blood has thinned out" as they say down here!LOL!

I can't wait for Survivor to start!

Hey Guy's husband swapping("What's up with that as Dan and Rosemary would say?")

Kim I think that we should shoot for the first Saturday in April at 12 PM est at the Smithsonian air and space museum. Anyone else have any other ideas? After 9:AM you can get a five dollar ticket that is good for the metro all day long. We stay in Alexandria VA and park the car at the station. The Metro gets us to where we need to go, although we make sure that we get out of dodge before the evening rush hour.

Mike

What's the matter, Mike? Are you shocked or interested? :jester:

Eric, I got the address. I will send the stuff this week. There are 3 booklets. In the one that is about tours, I marked the map to show where we live.Where you stay depends on what you want to do. Parking can be an issue downtown, so keep that in mind when picking a location. There is an Embassy Suites downtown that my family stayed in last year. It was very nice and very easy to walk to many of the historic sites. Mt Pleasent is nice but they are building a new bridge from Mt Pleasent to downtown and traffic can be pretty bad, due to the construction. If you give me an idea of your lodging budget I will do some research.
Charleston is a relativly small city and pretty easy to navigate ::yes::

this past cruise we originally were booked for a cat 11 room(sorry - we still dont treat ourselves and get a better room but hey we aren't in the room that much anyway) and got had a $200 on board booking credit. with the florida resident discount we were upgraded to a cat 10 room with a $300 discount. so we ended up with a better room and $100 differance. i'll take whatever they want to give...

Thanks a lot, Mary.
What about that hotel ?:
Howard Johnson Hotel - Charleston
250 Spring Street
The room is $59 &tax per night and parking is free. The Embassy Suites are $119 & tax and parking is another $10.
The location of the Howard Johnson seems to me as good as the Embassy's - at half the price.

MaryJo--- I'm so glad that someone understands what a caucus is. Everyone at work keep asking and no one had an official explanation. I'm not into politics and to think I have to listen to all this for 10 more months. The Iowa caucus most be similiar to Groundhog day here. A way to get together, have food and a good time. Except they end up making a decision at the end of the day.

Fionna---100% coverage for prescriptions is so great. Even with both Norm and my prescription plans we still end up with a substantial amount of money will spend on prescription drugs. Glad you are feeling better.

Peter--- How can you be going off to Florida when we have all sorts of job lined up for you? Did you not read your job schedule that we posted while you were away the last time.

Kim--- If Jim and Andy can get a screen name, it is time for you. Of course, Norm never reads the boards so he will never get a screen name.

Mike--- We will also do the Metro, but will be at the opposite end in Silver Springs.

Which I could be a Fl resident. I guess just visiting several times a year doesn't qualify me.

I'm not even going to touch the husband swapping.

Have a great day everyone. For those in the cold figid North stay warm.

Nancy::MinnieMo
