Happy New Year to everyone!

Finally, have some time to check out the boards.

Ave, so sorry about your kitty. When I read that I had to give my two, Mickey Meow and Minnie Meow, a big hug.

Mike, congrats on the Titans win. It was very painful for me, being a Ravens fan. Ravens would have won if it weren't for that 15 yard penalty for unsportsman like conduct by Orlando Brown. Hope he gets fined by the coach...you just don't do that during playoff games. But, may your Titans go to the Super Bowl.

Got three weeks left before my Jan. 24th curise, and have my documents. No upgrades...darn. Wow, only 9 months til Oct cruise. Can't wait for both.

Take Care,
Sue

Ave' - Sorry about the kitty -- how sad. I haven't heard whether Rocco has been found yet. I guess I'll find out at work tomorrow.

Sorry about your cat, Ave :(

Congratulations, Mike ::yes::
BTW, we saw Castaway this week on TV and in that movie Helen Hunt and Tom Hanks talk about the Tennessee Titans having been the Houston Oilers before they were moved/sold  to your home state. Is that right or just movie-talk?

We Found Fraidy Cat!!!
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
She just came walking in the door late last night! The dead kitty we found looked just like her. Since I didn't want to kids to get a false sense of hope, I declared her dead.
Needless to say, the children are overjoyed! And so are DH and I.
And now I don't have to write the dreaded letter to her owner.
Thanks again for all your kind words.

Ave' - I'm so happy for you and for your foster kitty. So glad you don't have to write that letter. Now you can really concentrate on your happiness at going to WDW soon! Rocco still hasn't been found, but we are hoping for the best.

Ave--- I just watched "Mad House" on TV Sat and they keep thinking that the cat had been killed, but he keep showing up. Reminds me of you and the Foster cat. Have a great time at WDW. I think we are going to wait until May for another trip.

While the weather was so nice yesterday, took down the outside decorations. We hit 62 yesterday which was a record. Finished taking down all the inside decorations today. So the holiday season is officially over at the Fike house. Diet's don't start until after my Birthday which is Wednesday. I did pretty well over the holiday, made sure I exercised each day to try to keep the weight under control.

jeanniec---- Hope that Rocco also makes it home safe and sound.

Since I have worked all weekend undecorating, I am now going to spend the rest of the day just lying around doing nothing. Pizza for dinner.

Back to a full work week starting tomorrow.

:( I was just getting used to those 4 day weeks.

Ave' - That is really great that your kitty was found and really wasn't killed. I'm sure it's a big relief.

Ave,
congratulations on your 'Lazarus'-kitty ;) I just hope you don't work that way in the hospital :jester:

Ave -- glad that everything worked out with your kitty. It is so scary to have a missing pet. Also congrats on going to WDW for your anniversary.

Back to work today. Ugh. Just looked and our first statutory holiday isn't until April 9th -- Good Friday. Won't be able to last that long I don't think.

Our good weather is now gone. It's below 0C today and there is a light dusting of snow on the ground. Saturday we were outside with just sweaters on it was so warm.

Hope everyone is well. Less than 9 months to go!!

Fiona

Welll, Rocco (my friend's missing "granddog" ) was found in someone's yard in their neighborhood. Apparently he was hit by a car. They took him to the emergency vet last night and found that he has a broken femur, broken pelvis, big gash in his side with an abscess already formed. Put him on IV's and sedated him overnight. Vicki and Paul drove him home (Mt. Pleasant, SC) today with his IV and heavily sedated. ER vet bill was $800 and the vet estimated his surgery bill (to repair the fractures) will be around $3000. Sad, but at least, he was found and they don't have to wonder what happened to him.

jeannniec..so glad Roscco was found. Poor guy, I hope he get well soon.
Back to work today, stayed BUSY. Lots of sick people out there. Bad for them, good for us.

Got to get dinner on the table.

Later, Ave'

Eric it is true. The Tennessee Titans used to be in Houston as the Houston Oilers.

Hope that everyone is staying warm and dry. Mike

Thanks for the info, Mike.

Good to hear that all the missing pets are back - Get well soon, Rocco ::yes::

Anja & I have green light for a 4-week-vacation in September/October:jumping1: As soon as we're back from London (March/April) we'll have to do some heavy planning.

welll have to go....Glad all the animals r safe...

Ave'...glad that the cat is safe...what did you do with the dead one (or shouldn't I ask??).

Peter and Jenn...have a great trip to WDW...you could adopt me as your older niece and take me (I also come with points!!)

Tons of illness up here...our ER looked like a MASH unit...every room was filled and the overflow (about 12 patients) were out on stretchers in the halls!! Our entire hospital is filled and we are trying to discharge the "well" patients early but sometimes this backfires!! Lots of flu up here (and colds).

We have been having mild temperatures (in the 50's for December) but winter is coming in full force tonight with our high supposed to be 18 degrees...yikes...I hate winter!!

MaryJo, We buried the mystery cat. I felt a little funny about it since her owner might be looking for her, but I couldn't just leave her in the ditch or on the side of the road. So have you guys made your reservations yet????

Peter and Jen, Pick me...pick me...I'm a twin. LOL Hope you have a great time. The Wilderness Lodge is fabulous. We were there in Dec. 2000. I agree about the living in Germany comment. Even after 8 years at my last job, I still only got 80 hours of vacation. And I never get to drive 100 mph.

Hi Everyone!:wave2:
Later, Ave'

Pete and Jen--- Have a great trip to WDW. Now that winter has returned, I hope that it is warm for you in Florida. Our Dec trip started off warm, but then needed the winter coats with wind chill factors.

I've been at my job so long that I get 6 weeks vacation, plus I can roll it over from year to year what I don't use up to a maxium of 9 weeks. Then in October, you can acutally turn in some time for cash if you want. I usually use 4-5 weeks vacation and then turn in 1 week for money. I try to keep a few weeks left in my account each year. Plus we have a separate sick leave bank.

Work is still crazy, our hospital is also filled and has been everyday in Dec and Jan except for Christmas day. They consilidated Geriatric Psy patients onto the regular Psy unit, so they could turn the Geri Psy floor into an overflow unit for all the medical patients. It is a full moon so that makes things even wilder than normal.

Today is my Birthday and tomorrow will start a reduction in my eating. I can still fit in my clothes, but they are tighter than normal. After losing 70 pounds, nearly 2 years ago I try to really keep my weight under control. So less food and my exercise program should get me back on track.

Well, I need to start to do some work.

Have a great day everyone.

Nancy
