HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ARLENE, SAM AND KIM

Next up will be the January Birthday group which will include me.

Decorating done, shopping done, wrapping done, cards sent out, grocery shopping completed (turkey thawing), and baking done (even it is only those pull apart and bake cookies, I did bake). So I guess I am as ready as I can be for the Holidays to begin.

It will just be the 4 of us for Christmas, but on Friday we are traveling to upstate PA to visit with my family. It is over a year since we got together as last Christmas it snowed and we didn't make it. So hopefully we can make it this year.

Cookie night sounds like so much fun and yummy. Wish we could have been there.

Hope everyone has a safe trip to their destinations for the holidays.

In case I don't get a chance to post before 12/25

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas from RellingTwin (Mary) and family.

We are having a great time at Ave's home. The kids ripped open gifts about an hour ago and are now busy playing with their new things.

Cathy, we got you card and Mickey before leaving Charleston...Thank you!!!

Merry Christmas to everyone. Our teenage kids (17 & 19) are still in bed, believe that. Even though we had them up for midnight services last night you'd think they would be up by now....teenagers.... :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Of course it does give me some time to check the boards...

Hugs, Kisses and Pixie dust to all the Cruisetoberfest III (and II and I) Cruisers. Hope your holidays are filled with Love, Peace and Joy.

Hope you all had a very merry Christmas. I spent Christmas Eve night in horrible pain -- diagnosed it as gallbladder even tho I have never had that problem before. I was up all night. Thought about going to the ER but couldn't stand the thought of being cooped up in the car while driving there. I had Christmas dinner but just threw things together and then went back to bed while the family was eating. Poor Sam had a real mess to clean up. My daughter was sick, too. Thinks she has a strep throat, but can't get in to see her doctor. They are too busy, but they are supposed to call in an antibiotic Rx for her. Not our best Christmas, I must say. We sure could use a cruise right now -- but will have to wait for a while. October can't come soon enuf!

jeannie, sorry you and your daughter were felling poorly. Hope you both get better soon.

Christmas was fun for us. Today Rellingtwin and I are bring the DDs shopping, and DH is bringing the boys out on the boat. They will go over to Shell Island and fire off rockets. Boy stuff! :)

Cathy, Thanks so much for the Mickey and card. Love the little Santa hat.
Papa, Love the pic of Katie!

Take care everyone!!!!
Later, Ave'

Jeannie so sorry that you and your dear daughter are under the weather.

Cathy the package came today. Thank you so much. I hope that you are feeling better and your bronchitis is on the road to healing.

Dave these young kids are not as tough as advertised. Hope that the girls are enjoying being at home during winter break.

Hope that Eric and Anja are enjoying their trip for the holidays and have a safe trip home.

Ave take care of the twin and do not eat too much, as you might wind up looking like me :hyper:

Kathy is working tonight. We had a wonderful Christmas at Katie's mom's house. It was a pot luck Christmas as everyone contributed a dish or two along with desserts. Kathy made her famous chocolate meringue pies and I made a couple of pecan pies along with dressing (stuffing to you yankees) and a spiral sliced honey ham.

Hi Folks,

we're back :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
We chose our driving time so carefully that we did both trips at low traffic: 4:40 on the way north and 4:30 on the way back. This is an average speed of about 80 mph for the first leg and 83 mph for the second :teeth:
I hope everyone has "survived" the feasting ;) We went to the local branch of our gym each day to compensate for all the excess food and so could avoid gaining weight.
After new year's eve we'll go on a 2-month diet to prepare ourselves for the Frankfurt Half-Marathon in March. I'll have to shed another 15 - 20 lbs for it and Anja wants to lose about 4 lbs for it. The less weight we'll have to carry the faster we will be.

See Y'all later on the boards

Cathy---- Thank you so much for the Santa Mickey ornament. You are just so crafty. Sorry you've been sick.

Dave (Cheeseplease): I can relate to those teens not getting up or should I say young adults (19 and 20). We went to Midnight mass so it was late when we went to bed. DS#2 got up around 10:30 and I finally made DS#1 get up at 11am. Till we were done opening up the gifts it was time for our Turkey dinner.

jeanniec--- Sorry to hear that you and your daughter were under the weather for the holiday. Hope you are soon feeling better. Does that nasty gallbladder have to come out?

Sounds like everyone else had a nice holiday. Christmas was quite for us since it was just the 4 of us. Friday we went to visit my family, so it was much more hectic then. We got to see my niece's husband (he is a Marine and is back from the Kuwait). Just to keep him in shape, my brother (his FIL) had him chopping down trees and hauling them back to the camp for firewood. We all got together at our family cabin in upstate PA which was really neat. My brother had the place all decorated for the Holidays. We even had an outside campfire going. It was great being with family for the day.

Went out to buy some of those big after Christmas sales on Christmas lights, cards and wrapping items. Since I didn't get to go on Friday, didn't know if there would be much left, but was able to find what I needed.

Eric--- So is 80 a normal speed to travel. In my area if I was going 80, it would be at least 15 miles over the speed limit. That is not to say, I don't go that fast. You just don't want to get caught.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. It was so nice to have 4 days off.

Nancy::MinnieMo

Nancy,
thanks for your wonderful card, we really loved it ::yes::
Yes, 80 is the "recommended" speed on all German Autobahnen when there is no posted speed limit. But to average a speed of 80 over a distance of 375 miles you have to travel at 100 - 110 mph, because there are large portions with posted limits of 60 and 75. In construction zones the limit may be as low as 50. So most of the time we cruised at about 100. The snow tyres we have mounted are certified up to 120 only, so we couldn't go at max anyway. Max is about 135 for our car, but going at max is not very fuel efficient, yesterday we averaged 27 mpg at max, it would only have bee about 20. And you think twice about that at $5 per gallon

Happy Holidays to everyone.

Sounds like the cookie exchange was a big hit.
I'm glad the twins got to be together for the holidays.
Eric, what is the weather like at the Baltic this time of year?
Colleen, DD, SIL, and Becca were all sick for Christmas, not as festive as we would've liked. Colleen is slowly getting better, I hope she can enjoy the Disney Champaigne with pixie dust that I got on our last night on the Magic.
Two and half days of work, then four days off to end the year, can't wait.

We are hoping to get together with some of our cruise friends before October, see everyone soon(on the boards).
