I'm just wondering how does everyone deal with a 1 year old child's meltdown in WDW?> just in case he freaks out. :rotfl2::scared1::eek:

Benedryl..........:lmao::rotfl2: Just kidding!!!!

I would just try to remove the child from some of the excitement and sing and rock until they calm down.

Depends on age (young vs. close to 2) and reason. DD had a couple when she was close to 2 but she was just playing with us and trying to get her way. We ignored it. Now we wouldn't have if we had been in a restaurant or in ride or show, but we were in line for the bus so we had no problem letting her be all dramatic while we ignored her. If it was bad behavior (ie: deliberately doing a 'no-no' ) we would try to stay as close to home discipline as possible - a 'timeout' - we did a couple/few of these by putting the offending child on a bench or on the ground. Of course, I had to stay near and tell goers-by that the child crying on the bench was mine and not lost! If it was just a 'im so tired and want to cry' type thing - I would try to get the child away from everyone else and hold/soothe him or her. Of course mine, when melting down - would NOT be held - so I would get him/her away from the crowd and put him/her on the grass somewhere and let it go.

Try to prevent instead of dealing with. Be sure you keep her well feed, hydrated, and rested. When you see she is in sensory overload, find a quite shady spot and let her chill for a little bit. If she is a child that needs routine, try to keep her on it. Adults can stay up two hours late and deal, babies can not.

If she does melt down, handle it as you would at home. Rock, distract or whatever. Do however rememeber to be a little more fexable in you tollerace.

:thumbsup2 Excellent. Couldn't have said it better!

(Although, step124ny, the benadryl suggestion was funny!)
