Has anyone been able to use 1TS credit for 2CS credits this year?
I do not want to sit-down for a meal every day, much less plan where I am going to be at a certain time unless I HAVE to.

The explanation for doing this was fuzzy and it sounded like some restaurants would let you do this, and some wouldn't.

DDP guide makes no allowances for converting TS to CS, CS to Snack, etc., everything is it own category. I would not plan on doing this. Consider planning some 2TS meals to limit your sit downs. Those are also known as Signature dining. I would consider those events just like catching Fantasmic or riding a FP attraction. Want to watch Wishes? Maybe book CA Grill to see it from way up high. Want some entertainment consider, a Luau.

Many who decide to plan sitdown meals and use ADRs do so to match park plans for the day. For example, we will have a late park night due to P&P Party. I know we'll sleep in the next AM. We'll want to eat when we get up and we'll want to do a character meal at some point. So I booked a meal at Chef Mickey's. On our AK day I booked BOMA, the park closes at 5pm and we'll have to go somewhere. AK and AKL are relatively remote, may as well check them both off on the same trip.

If you need to use TS credits it will be less frustrating to plan those meals. Depending on when you'll be at WDW it can be very hard to just walk in and get seated for a meal. Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club is a TS that does not take ADRs, so may be that's one to keep in mind for a wing it meal. Also think of a TS meal as a planned AC break! Sometimes that is valuable, even if you have a bad meal.

From the FAQ for this forum:
Can I use TS credits for CS meals?
No. During the 2006 free dining promotion, Disney did extend an offer to use TS credits for CS meals (plus two snacks and a lanyard), but that offer has expired. Prior to that offer, some (but not all) hotel front desks allowed some (but not all) guests to convert some of their remaining TS credits in the CS credits, with the understanding that once converted they cannot be converted back. However, that is not an official part of the Dining Plan, and may or may not be successful in getting them to do that for you.
If you are new to the forum and are considering the Dining Plan, you will probably want to read through the FAQ. It can be found here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1479952
