We will be down in Orlando in 3 1/2 months. We are staying with my parents and doing a Disney Cruise. One Thursday evening, I am considering grabbing a studio at one of the DVC's and getting away (just the 2 of us). My DW doesn't know this.

Anyway...My thoughts so far are:

1) VWL (this is such a beautiful place, it might be romantic just to walk the grounds for the evening - maybe a dinner at Artists Point);

2) SSR - Being the newest resort, we'd love to check it out. Plus I can more easily surprise DW with a massage (a professional one, I mean). This evening may include a Pleasure Island excursion;

3) BWV - We love the BW - We could do a nice Spoodles or Flying fish dinner and then maybe Atlantic Dance Hall or Jellyrolls.

I had thought about splurging and getting a night at GF or Poly, but I have not yet convinced myself to spend all those extra points.

It's not our anniversary - just a little "us" time.

Any thoughts would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Louis

are you going to do the parks?

If not - then SSR

if you are then I would go for VWL.

We will either:

1) do the parks with my parents and DSs the day we stay over; or

2) meet them the next day in the parks.

Not sure yet.

Thanks for the reply.

For romance and "US" time, I always suggest the GF ;) but from your list I would pick VWL for the atmosphere and the quiet.

DH and I walk the grounds at the WL and get a ressie at Artist Point sometimes when we're just in Orlando and not at WDW!

That's my choice, VWL!

rwc:wave:

Out of your three picks I would pick Boardwalk, since there are pleny of places to eat and the entertainment at Jelly Rolls & Atlantic Dance.

SSR is a fine resort. I stayed there in August. But a lot of it is still under construction. So, I vote for BWV.

Instead, how about splurging on a one bedroom unit at VWL.

Think about it; Romantic resort setting, dinner at Artist Point, candle-lit private jacuzzi, king-size bed...

Now that would be worth the extra points.

How bout a one bedroom with the spa tub? Candles?
I would pick OKW for the lower points.
Glass of wine, cup of tea on the patio

dinner at ?? your choice. coffee in the am on the patio.

You could even bring your fav dvd or video! Popcorn and snuggle on the couch.

Point are probably less than GF?

:D

Artist's Point has a romantic, northwestern atmosphere. My wife and I loved our dinner there. I also loved California Grill atop the Contemporary. Flying Fish is more "busy" but the food beats the other two (even though the others have excellent food). It has the best nearby night life.

Personally, I think Artist's Point is the most romantic of these three.

If I were going to be in parks that day and it wouldn't cost an extra ticket I would go to Les Chefs de France. We had our most romantic dinner in the "World" there.

If you're looking for some night life in your evening, I'd probably lean towards your SSR. I guarantee your DW would love the massage treatment, and I think the resort's proximity to DTD would be great for the night life aspect.

On the other hand, if you're looking for some place to hole up, I'd go the VWL route. Ask for the dumpster view to make sure you have as few neighbors as possible. :smooth:

Yes. Nothing more romantic than siting out on your balcony and taking in the aromas of last night's leftover meal from below in the dumpster! :rotfl:

We had a wonderful, romantic evening one night going to Artist Point and then sitting by the fire in the lobby of the villas....because our youngest was too little for an overnight without us, we didn't get to book our own room for the night...but it would have made it that much more special.

Since I've done the VWL thing...I can highly recommend it.

This year we'll be having a dinner for 2 at the California Grill, while my parents have the kids downstairs at Chef Mickey's (again, we have a tiny one...so can't get a whole night).

Either of your other plans sounds good too...I know I'd be quite happy if my dh surprised me with something like that. I am also partial to the Polynesian....or AKL (savannah view room, dinner at Jiko, sitting by the fire pit....).

Have fun! I'm sure your wife will love whatever you choose.

I'd pick Boardwalk and hopefully you'll end up with a room with a boardwalk view. Sitting out there at night watching the lake.....very romantic. ;)

SSR.

You see, I have this "thing" about wanting to try as many new things as I can on each of my visits down to my second home. Although we have not stayed at VWL, we will likely do so on our next family trip to a DVC resort.

SSR is something I will no doubt have a desire to see regardless of whether we stay there and I think my DW will really love to try out the spa. As SSR is not as likely a place for a stay with our DSs (6 and 3), I figure this may be our one good opportunity to try it out before the boys are grown.

Thank you for all of your thoughts. You are welcome to keep them coming. As I told MS when I reserved the room, I am reserving now and reserving the right to change my mind lots of times between now and February ;).

Good thing you reserved the right to change your mind. I'm sure new ideas will keep coming...like this one! VWL is just lovely for the quiet. Plus you can still do the spa thing by taking a water taxi over to the Grand Floridian.

On the other hand SSR seems hands down for most everything an adult could want...the spa, the view, a chance to take in adult entertainment or a romantic dinner. Although...that Japanese restaurant over in the Swan/Dolphin was just lovely...good thing you aren't relying on us to make up your mind for you.
