1 party of 6 - 2 rooms/2 different dining plans?

I am still trying to figure out the advantages of the dining plans. We are thinking of staying at the CR. DH, DS6, DD2 and my parents - 5 nights/6 days the last week of August. I am thinking we will get 2 rooms (even though the CM said we technically could all fit in one room). If I get 2 rooms, could I get a DDP for my parents and DxDPP for our room? I am thinking that for us to enjoy the vacation, my parents could sometimes watch the kids (take them back to the parks) and my DH and I can go out for a nice dinner at night.
