We are currently booked at Wilderness Lodge for 5 nights at the end August We are thinking of adding on a night if it coincides with a MNSSHP (we're just guessing based on this years dates), however WL is booked if we try to add a 6th night there.

So we were thinking of trying out a new resort for 1 night. Our plan was to check out of WL, eat brunch at Chef Mickeys, and check into a new hotel and spend day at the pool and go to MK that night for the party. We would be going home the next evening. We were considering the following but would love to hear opinions/input. Thanks for any ideas!

AKL--We have stayed here before, but our DS5 never has been. We thought the pool and animals would be entertaining.
Yacht Club-We thought the pool here would be great fun for a pool day and like the refurbished rooms.
POFQ-Heard the rooms would be refurbished and the pool/kiddie play look fun.
AOA (Little Mermaid)--Looks like a lot of fun but know the rooms are a hike from the main area.

Since your going to the Party, AKL is the furthest you can get from MK. YC would be nice, great pool, and things to do on the Boardwalk. CR would be handy.

If you are going to the party that night, I would seriously consider booking a room at CR so you can simply walk back and forth to the party. Any of the resorts you mention will require bus rides back to the resort whenever you plan to leave the party. Especially with a 5 year old, the closer to MK the better. If CR doesn't appeal, I would consider GF or Poly.

Can you book WL for that 6th night as a separate reservation?

I would keep trying on adding a night at WL. That’s a long way away and plenty of time to snag something.

Moving on a party day would kind of be a bummer for me, to be honest. I could deal, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

I do agree that if you have to move, try CR or another MK resort for transportation convenience.

I needed to add a night to my January reservation and I was able to create a 1 night reservation and link it to my existing reservation, but I couldn’t extend my reservation by one night. So I would keep trying! You might have better luck by calling as well.

I second CR if that is within your budget. It doesn't make sense to go WL (MK area) to Chef Mickeys (MK area), then to a non MK area hotel for swimming, then back to MK for the party. I honestly don't know that with all that travel time, you would even have time to swim. It seems like as soon as you finished up at CM and made it back to your hotel, it would be time to head back to the park. I think you can still enter at 4 pm on party nights.

YC would be a great choice for a pool day. Stormalong Bay is fantastic. The new rooms are lovely.

I would keep trying for a room at WL. I'm sure one will open up soon. I wouldn't move on party day or move out of the MK area if everything I'm doing is in the MK area. As a back up book a room at CR, Poly or GF but I'm sure something at WL will open up eventually.

We stayed at POR and one day went over to POFQ to try the pool. My kids are older (at the time 9 and 10) so they were too big for the new kids water area. My kids did not care for the pool. They liked POR better.

I would go with either AKL or YC. I have not been to either but the pool swill be better then AOA. I myself really want to stay at AKL because of the animals.
