1 Day MYW Ticket = Only 1 Day of FP+?

Our family has 1-day MYW tickets from a WDW package we enjoyed last year. We have an on-site trip coming up this winter and plan to use the tickets to get into MK, then go directly to Guest Services and upgrade to 10-day MYW tickets. Some questions:

1. If I wait and do this, will I only be able to book 1-day FP+ before we do the upgrade?

2. Is there any way to upgrade our tickets over the phone or online?

3. If the upgrade can only be done at WDW, can we have a friend who is visiting the parks upgrade our tickets for us? Does it matter they are KTTW tickets with our names on them?

Sorry for all the questions, but we don't want to miss out on FP+ on our next trip.

You can only book FPs for the number of days you have on your ticket attached in MDE.

You cannot upgrade those other than in person.

Since you have KTTW cards, I don't think they would let someone else upgrade them. I'm feeling about 99% confident of tha due to all their concerns about fraud and unauthorized ticket sales.

I think if they were generic unused tickets with no names attached,it wouldn't be a problem for someone else to do it.

They may be on their KTTW cards, but tickets don't "belong" to someone (in most cases) until that ticket is used by the someone. So they should be okay.

That said the friend can not use them to enter the park first, which means they will not be able to "bridge" them. Since it seems the tickets are "pre-Feb" price increase. they can't "lock in" the gate value.

Honestly, OP you might just want to bite the bullet this round and get tickets online, and save the 1-day 1-park tickets for another day.

Thanks for the advice so far. We've actually "collected" quite a few Disney tickets from past packages (had APs for a while) so I'd like to start to "cash out" some of these rather than buy more. Hasn't been a problem in the past but now the FP+ being limited to the number of days on the ticket you have in hand has become a problem.

Anyone else have an opinion on having our friends upgrade the tickets for us?

What you could try is calling Disney's ticketing office (NOT the reservations people) and asking them to take those tickets off the KTTW cards and send you normal tickets. I'm not sure if they have the capability to do that, but it's worth trying. If they can, your friend can upgrade them for you at any ticket window while they're at Disney.

Your other option (if FP+ is important to you) is to buy new tickets for this trip then upgrade the old ones yourself to use on the next trip.

You could buy a 10 day pass book FP+ then upgrade a 1 day ticket the first day and remove the 10 day from your account to a card.

Then once 1day upgrade to 10 is done you add the original 10 back to your account for the next trip rinse repeat
