Hi,

We are going to Disney Land for a week on 7/12 - 7/19 and staying nearby at a timeshare. The week we are at DL, it will be our 12th anniversary and also DL 60th anniversary. We will be also staying in San Francisco the week prior to our DL trip, visiting the local sights including the Disney Museum.

I was looking at doing something special on our wedding Anniversary, even through we have a room already, I was thinking about surprising my wife with a night at the GCH, and if possible/available - pool cabana reservation, spa day for two, dinner at Napa Rose, etc.

Would it be worth the 1 day at GCH or just do the spa/dinner at Napa Rose ?

Thanks

K

We did just that for our 10th anniversary and it was wonderful! We stayed at an off property hotel for one night and then the GCH for another. When I made the reservation I mentioned it was our anniversary and we returned from our wonderful dinner at Napa Rose to find rose petals sprinkled on the bed, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. Our balcony also overlooked the amazing violin player that is often seen at Downtown Disney. I would highly recommend the one night! Having a pool cabana and spa treatments would be the icing on the cake.

You could have an event filled, but relaxing day:
  • Check in at 6AM, to take advantage of 7AM Extra Magic Hour (use the main entrance)
  • Rent a cabana for the afternoon
  • Have a romantic dinner at Napa Rose
  • Watch World of Color, before or after dinner
  • Take advantage of Extra Magic Hour the next morning before checking out
You might want to book soon, since it is likely GCH will soon be fully booked.

I have never visited the spa, but my wife gives it a lukewarm review. The spa has offered half price deals on Travel Zoo, but my wife told me to stop buying the coupons.

Do you really have to ask the question :), I would say the answer is a resounding YES lol.

My only question is if your wife is a big spa person? The Mandara spa is pretty pricey. It is very nice but if your wife is not a big spa person then it may not be the best choice.

Dinner at Napa Rose is amazing, you will have a great time. Even though it is a good sized restaurant and there can/will be kids there, it really does have a intimate feel to it. ENJOY!!
