1 Day at Disney / Hotel? Which Water Park?

We have one day - a Saturday - at the end of March at Disney. We will be there after our cruise. We have a rental car, so I am not worried about transportation. I am trying to figure out where to spend the day - I am thinking we will do a water park. Kids aged 11 and 14 - which would be the best park? Which hotels are closest (Disney or otherwise) to the waterparks? Thanks!!

Hard to go wrong with either. My family has been to Typhoon Lagoon only and loved it, but obviously can't intelligently compare the two without going to both. TL is in the Downtown Disney area and closest to the half-dozen hotels or so located on Hotel Plaza Boulevard.

There's nothing wrong with either park, but my personal fave is Blizzard Beach. The closest resorts would be Coronado Springs or the All-Stars.

I like Typhoon Lagoon better, while my 15yo daughter prefers Blizzard Beach. They are both a lot of fun and you can't go wrong with either.
