1 Day at AK... Which Day? Dec 31 or Jan 1?

I can't decide! We are doing 1 AK day. We are staying offsite and I was able to book morning fast passes for Navi, EE and Safari (nothing available for FOP, I'll keep checking!) on Dec. 31. Dec. 31 has EMH and Touring Plan crowd level of 6, Jan 1 has crowd level of 7 no EMH. Any suggestions or tips?

Are you doing another park the other day? I would think if you are willing to rope drop, the morning of the 1st would be less crowded with people sleeping in after staying up until midnight. Add in EMH on the 31st that you don't get to participate in, and I would pick the 1st.

No, we are just doing the one park and we are flexible as to what day.

31st at AK is traditionally light - comparatively, which is still quite heavy - because they don't have a midnight NYE celebration like the other parks. What the PP said about the morning of the 1st is also true; we did it a few years ago and it was a ghost town at opening. I think overall my vote would be the 31st, but if your heart is set on Pandora and you'll really, truly arrive before rope drop, you could do the 1st. Bang through Pandora at opening and then fly through the rest of the park while everyone else is hung up there.

OMG... I just changed it to Jan 1st, LOL! I was able to get pretty much the same fast passes except Navi is now in the evening. We rode FOP in September so if we can do it great, if not, oh well. We are early risers so we would have no trouble being there for park opening... I'm gonna hope it will be empty and we can try our luck at FOP in the morning.

Touring plans changed their crowd prediction for Jan 1 to 10/10! I moved back to Dec. 31 which is now an 8, but it doesn't get any lower then that for the rest of the week (and Kali will be closed for the rest of the week too) so.... there we are! Still no FOP fast pass!

I have a feeling that if you stay until closing on the 31st, you'll be able to ride FoP then. Most people will be headed to one of the other parks for New Year's Eve festivities which SHOULD leave AK relatively uncrowded. It would be worth a 45 min or wait at the very end of the day to me. You'll at least be able to enjoy Pandora in the dark while you wait.

The 1st is really low on crowds up till noon in all the parks. We went to MK at rope drop and it was basically empty for several hours.

Thanks for the tip! I just changed mine on 1/2 from 2:20 p.m. to 8:45 a.m. I think what must of happened is they updated park hours last week, but didn't add the extra fastpasses for FOP until last night.
