1 credit left at 2 credit restaurant

Disney currently allows you to do what you are suggesting. You'd have to pay for a second drink. Signature restaurants don't generally have huge portion sizes. You might want to pay for an extra entrée or an extra appetizer. I don't think one meal would be enough food for two guests.

As someone new to these boards, and working to understand exactly what the DDP covers, I think your original question makes total sense. I had also wondered about how sharing works/doesn't work at a 2TS restaurant.

What I am wondering is this: Is it possible for two people to share a meal at a signature restaurant by using just 2 TS credits? I would eat the appetizer, my fiance the entree, and we'd share dessert. This would give us the opportunity to try some upscale cuisine without spending too much.

This might be the same as your original question or might not -- I'm not clear whether you would have truly just 1 adult TS credit left on your last day (and how that is possible, unless one person is skipping meals or something) or if you would have 1 credit left per person in your party on your last day.

This is my first post ever, so please be gentle!

I'm sorry Leslie. We can get a little carried away here.

Good luck with the planning! :cloud9:

No hard feelings, Muushka! :goodvibes Thanks again to everyone who responded!

I would email Disney and ask if you can use 1 DDP credit and pay for half of the bill out of pocket if you don't want to reshuffle things around, but really I found that in determining what to pay for out of pocket it was best to do so at the time that you go to eat, as sometimes someone is more or less hungry than others.

My inlaws split their 2 credits at Jiko and it was MORE than enough food for them. I suppose it depends on how big of an eater you are... course, we also had other appetizers on the table that everyone ate off of and we left behind about half the food.

You are correct in that portions at signature spots aren't near the huge portions found at other spots. But two adults could still share if they aren't huge eaters.

In regards to the OP's quesiton, I think you should just plan to rearrange your credits to fit best. I doubt that Jiko can do anything with 1 credit since their system is not designed to work with 1. I would go prepared in advance to have 2 credits or pay OOP for it. JMHO.

I also had this happen with to much planning. I ended up having 1 credit each and a 2 credit meal. I asked if about paying half and was told that it could not be done. I wound up adding an extra day to my trip so it just worked out , but I would say just pay for your cheapest meal and save the credits to go to the 2 credit meal.

Nothing wrong with sharing a 2TS, as long as you *have* 2 TS, and its adequate food, or just pay for extras OOP:goodvibes

I guess that is why I thought that the DDP seemed a lot more complicated (than it should be).
Yup: You surely can come up with complicated questions if you want. The point is if you just use the Dining Plan at face value, then it isn't complicated at all.

It was the answers that were complicated.
I understand how the DDP works.

When I was planning my last trip I had an excel spreadsheet going to figure out which meals to pay OOP for. We had several 2TS meals planned (Mickey's BYBBQ, luau) and i wanted to keep the cost down as much as possible because some of our group was on a limited budget.

I found that most times the buffets were best to pay OOP for especially the Backyard BBQ - reg price about $39 which did not justify 2 credts.

What I also found though was not to wait until the end to use your credits. I had planned a TS at Wilderness Lodge one night and we decided we were too tired to go out so we just ate at POP. Then on our last day we decided to skip 1900 Park Fare breakfast, if I had saved my last TS credits for the last day I would have ended up losing them.

Just my thoughts, FWIW lol I think I'd just check the menus and pay OOP for the least expensive meal. Another idea might be to pay OOP at one place for the kids meal without the app/entree and dessert and share the adult stuff and then do the same thing with the kids credit paying OOP for the adult entree--usually by the middle I am not in the mood for too much food anymore anyway!

OP here again. I'm going to try not to come off as too defensive, but I do want to explain a little about my question since it seems I may have been misunderstood. I never wanted to try to use only one credit at a 2 credit restaurant. I never wanted to try to cheat the DDP in any way. I was just surprised when I was calculating my credits for our trip and where we would use them that the way I had planned to use them would have only left one adult and one child. Since this board is so great at getting information and since I had never seen the issue come up, I just thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone else had had this issue and if so, what happened. Obviously I'm going to have to re-work what we pay OOP. Thanks for the responses.
