We are planning for our next trip , the first with our DS who will be just 2 when we go. Normally we stay on site but are beggining to think that a one bed appartment or suite would be better because of the kitchen facilities and the ability to put DS to sleep in the bedroom while we stay up in the other room.

The onsite suites are a little too much but we are willing to spend a reasonable amount on somewhere nice. As an idea of price we are looking at Savanah view AKL if we stay on site.

Any suggestions of good quality suites/appartments with a good pool close to WDW ? Or should we be looking at a small villa with private pool ?

TIA

Martin

You would get a 2 bedroom apartment at Vistana for the cost of a Savanna room at AKL ( at least you did last year when we went!)
We wouldnt go back to a single room now as our boys are 6 and 8. Have you looked into Fort Wilderness - they have some great deals depending on your dates.
There are lots of suite hotels and timeshare resorts in the LBV area.

How about renting point's from a DVC member for a 1 or 2 bed villa at the Boardwalk/Beach Club/Old Key West/Wilderness Lodge??

Have a look on the DVC Forum's - possibly an option for you??

KayleeUK, that sounds like a good plan as a 1 bed beach club villa would be ideal for us but at $400 per night a bit pricey !

I'll have a dig around the DVC forum, I must admit I didnt understand that you could rent out the points.

I know I am a DVC member - but it all still confuses me :D

But look DVC Rent/Trade Board Click on the DVC point's calculator and see how many point's you need. I think people are selling there points for $10 a point looking at a couple of post's.

So two week's in 1 bed at Boardwalk in OCtober 428 point's = $4280.00 = $305.71 per night. Or OKW at $245.71 per night.
(I think that work's out right:D )

You could then post to see if anybody had those point's to rent.

we are renting a 2 bed apartment at Windsor Palms - I have read good reviews of the location, and it is supposed to be very close to Disney. It is costing us £295/week which is so much cheaper than on-site that we will be able to afford lots of fun extras as well.

We rent a 2 bed 2 bath condo at Caribbean Condos (Eastern and of 192) It is on a complex with apool, and in Oct will cost us £280 for a week. Wouldn't use anything else now!! Can give you an email/net reference if you pm me.:p

The advantages of a Suite hotel are they tend to have more "hotel type" facilities. Basically restaurants and pools. While restaurants may not be an issue, with a little one a communal pool does give him the chance of making friends and playing with other children, whereas at a villa or an apartment style place that may not be the case. It does depend on how much time you plan to be in and around the accomodation. A villa would be the quietest and offer the most privacy, an appartment would offer medium privacy, quietness and there is a chance of a communal pool with playmates, a suite hotel is likely to be nosier and less privacy, but does have the offering of more facilities. I don't think any of them is a better or worse choice than the others, it really does depend on which way you'd prefer to "weight" your preferences.
