DH is out of town this weekend, so I'm gonna clean out the junk closet. Of course none of the junk is junk to him, that's why the closet looks like it does. We have no clue what's even in there though, which is evident from the 7 coolers and the 24 rolls of duct tape I've found. I did warn him I was cleaning it, but I don't think he believed me. 1-800-Got-Junk is coming to pick up the rejects.

Anyone else with a black hole like this in their house?

My garage! I've cleaned it 4 times so that I could park my car in it again. DH is always asking what I threw out. I tell him to tell me what he's looking for, and I'll tell him what I did with it . He's never missed ANY of the tons of stuff I've thrown out.

I am decluttering the house also. I was thinking of using 1-800-Got-Junk also. Have you used them before? Are they very expensive? Do they come in the house to pick up stuff or do you have to have it all in one place? I know they charge according to how much junk fills their truck, but I never noticed a pricing scale on their website.

When you call they will ask a couple questions about what you have to pick up and give you an estimate. It's really reasonable given what it costs to take things to the dump now. They come to the house and you just instruct them what to take. It's usually a crew of clean cut college students. I think the most I've ever paid was $150 and that was quite a pile.
