Just got back from using the DDP for 5 nights. We had no problems at all anywhere. We ate at 50's PT, Crystal Palace, PSB Akershus, Coral Reef & Kona. At 50's & Coral Reef we ordered entree and dessert all at once. THis was an option if you wanted to do so. At the start of each TS, they would ask if you were on the dining plan then ask to see your card. THey would check for DDP vs DxDDP and then explain what you were entitled to. At the end of each meal, you would get a check showing the actual total w/tax. Then it would say "modified". Then it would show optional tip 18%=$x.xx and 20%=$x.xx. THere would be a line that you would fill in with whatever you wanted for a tip. It did say that the optional tip was no longer included in the dining plan. Since we could charge on our card, I would just fill in the amount that we wanted and put the card w/the bill. The server would come back and take the bill to process. THey would return and our meal would be zeroed out and it would only show the amount of tip that was charged. You would get a slip showing how many credits you had left and another slip you had to sign for the room charge. It all went very smoothly.

For CS/snacks, if you had any questions, all the CM's were very knowledgeable and would explain what you could get. Everything was marked w/the DDP logo for snacks too.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask:)

Thank you! This will be the frist time we will be using the DDP and I am a little anxious since the changes and a lot of people being upset I was a little apprehensive about doing it. Glad you had a good experience!!

Thanks for sharing, Momof2J's...

At any meal did you order anything not included in the DDP? I'm curious how that was handled when they brought the bill. For example, an appetizer or alchoholic beverage not included on the plan?

We did not order anything that wasn't included, so I can't say how that would be listed for sure.

For the snacks, it appears that everything that had the DDP symbol for 2007 was the same. At our food court you could get cereal w/milk, oatmeal, muffins, croissants, fruit, drinks, etc. At the parks it was popcorn, churros, ice cream treats, frozen sodas, large pretzels, etc.

It's so nice to hear from someone who's had a positive experience with the 2008 DDP! Thanks for sharing. We're arriving in 17 days and I can't wait to get back! I'm sure once we're in WDW all this stress over the tipping will seem ridiculous. (OK, I'm really hoping the last part is true!)

When we ordered extra things, they gave us a separate bill for it. Sometimes there was a lot of paperwork to sign, but it worked fine.

Thanks for the info!! Probably a silly question, but.. since you charged your tips to the room, do you mind me asking how you handled that bill then? Did you just charge it to a CC? Or did you pay cash or with a gift cards at the resort?

I'm just asking b/c I want to have as much paid for and done with before we arrive as possible. On our last trip the only things we paid OOP for were souveniers - and we used Disney dollars and gift cards. Now that we'll having to pay the tip also, I'd love to just pay that off with those as well if possible. Anyone know - can I put a CC down as "back-up" but actually pay with g.c./Disney dollars at check-out? Or actually put those on the account at check-in?

Thanks!

You can put cash or gift card on your room in place of a credit card; however, a credit card allows you to use express checkout, so that you do not have to wait in line when checking out. From what I understand, if you use cash or gift cards, then anything that is left over is refunded in the same form that you paid it.

Thank you! I don't mind skipping Express Check-out. I've got plenty of time to decide - May 2009!

I also had a positive experience 1/4 -1/12! Everything worked out great. The bill came with everything on it, we handed them our cards. We had two rooms. Then they brought us back the bill with the alcohol/appetizer on it. Remember to take a look at the first bill they bring for the suggested 18-20% tip. The second bill doesn't show it. We paid cash for tips and anything not on the DDP.

Only had a few glitches on the '08 DDP during our visit 1/5-11. In middle of trip we were told at O'Hana that we didn't have any TS credits left, when in fact we had 12 left. It happened again at the end of the trip...same scenario. Both were taken care of immediately at the front desk of our resort. Front desk had no problem showing how many credits we had left and were confused as to why restaurants were having trouble with our cards.

I will say that I am disappointed in the snack options. I mean, if it's $4 or less and worked on '07 DDP what's the big deal:confused3 .
