Hello!
My gang will be at Universal for the first week of January. we would like to do WDW when we arrive. This will leave us with one overnight stay at a Disney Resort. We would have from around 14h-21h00 on the first day, and a full day after before going on to Uni in the evening. Our priorities are Galaxy's Edge at HS and about 8-9 must rides at MK. I would like to be able to walk to one of the parks. Suggestions? Ty

I'd stay at Contemporary since it sounds like you'll be spending most of your time limited time at MK. You can take the bus or a Lyft/Uber from Contemporary to HS pretty reasonably if you're trying to do rope drop there. Conversely, there are a lot more (and more reasonable) options for staying within walking distance of HS such as Swan/Dolphin.

Apparently you can't book Contemporary for less than 3 days... I checked and nothing was coming up.

I would look at CR, GF, BWI, BC, YC, Swan, Dolphin and Swan Reserve. Call Swan/Dolphin/Swan Reserve directly for the best pricing.
I was thinking of the Swan. The hotels are not very pretty but... who cares? At that price and location, all I need is beds! :D

Disney recently announced they aren't allowing 1-night reservations for some period of time at the end of this year. Sorry I don't know the dates - can't remember whether they extend into January or not.

They really are the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to proximity to EP and DHS. We just stayed at the Swan a few weeks ago and the beds were very comfortable!
