1/3/09 Magic - First Time To St. Croix

Just popped on to see Brack's countdown clock.
It is a cold snow flurry day here in Chicagoland. We just returned to work from a funeral and it was cold graveside. Tomorrow it is supposed to get reallly cold, single digits for the next 4-5 days. It will be a good weekend to curl up with Disney movies. Maybe homemade chicken soup in the Crock-Pot and fresh baked bread. Oh I am getting hungry. And Brownies or maybe banana bread.

Welcome aboard to our new shipmates.
We are just two big kids, in our 60s.

Not yet :confused3 but I'm sure that the bag was sent by the most economical way/.

The bag arrived :woohoo: but no CF Card  I guess it is really gone for good. :sad1:

I'm making a turkey this weekend. I got a couple of them free at Thanksgiving time for spending too much money at a local store. It will be a nice cold weather meal or two, or three, or four!

Hi y'all, I'm krhardy's friend that's going too. My dh and dd (15) will be on the cruise. It seems our group's (krhardy & mine) number has swelled! I think last count we were up to 17? Lots of teens coming - don't worry we actually make our kids behave and if they don't  we want to know so we can correct it! :goodvibes

We are very much looking forward to this cruise. It has been 2 years since we were on the boat and by the time we sail it will have been 3 years - waaaaay too long to go between cruises. I'm excited about St. Croix and can't wait to see the shore excursions we might have to choose from.

Oh, and just a fair warning....y'all will know of us before the cruise is over...we always make an lasting impression! :rotfl2: :cool1:  :rolleyes1

Welcome!! Big groups are fun! We had 13 in our family go in Dec. We rebooked onboard, but the rest of the crew did not.....yet! ;) Just DH and me so far.

OK...it snowed for 8 hours yesterday in Atlanta, and today the temp went down into the teens. As I am originally from ST. Louis, I know that relatively speaking, this could be considered warm. But BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! Is it time to cruise yet?????
I've got to go where it's warm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cold:

Gee Diane, what ever could you possibly mean about us making a lasting impression?????:rotfl2:  :lmao:
you might scare these poor folks....hee hee hee!!!!

Welcome Aboard Lollipop's Mom!

Looking forward to getting to know you over the next year! ;)

OMG!! I love this idea! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :dance3:
The fish extender gifty swap! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607&page=15

I am SO making one of these just because they are just cool! I loved seeing all the goodies the Disers swapped all week on that one cruise on the page above. I think it would be fun to do that on ours!:lovestruc Especially with folks coming from all over, have something to trade that shows their home town/state. Besides our cruise is special...the first one to St. Croix!

Ok, I'm better now. I just think this is a great idea. We did giant stockings on our doors last cruise.:santa:

Well it looks like I have TONS of research to do now and that should keep me busy for the next year :)

Just got back from 10 nights at Pop and kept seeing these cruise buses and got jealous! I had a blast at WDW, but didn't find it as much of a 'vacation' as I was hoping - I felt like I 'worked' for 10 days - 13 hour travel day in/out on 3 planes, then walking, walking, walking, stand in some lines, walk some more, go on a ride, walk a bit more...... well YOU all know!
I told Meg (My DD) that next year it HAS to be more relaxing.
I am not sure if we will do any parks this January and extend it at all or not. I am thinking of coming in a day or even 2 early and staying at an oceanfront resort and enjoy the sun.

Trust me you can do as much or as little as you want on a cruise. Once your DD gets plugged into the other kids in the kids clubs you will not see her. :cool1:
You will have to tell her to show up to eat dinner with you. :rotfl2: Last cruise we went on was with 3 families, 6 kids and 2 sets of grandparents. I hardly saw my child except for dinner and if I happened to bump into her on deck somewhere. She and her buds had a ball being kids without mom around. DD was 12 at the time. She will be 15 this cruise with some of the same friends. Yours should find some friends easily and give you plenty of mom time to just be. :cutie:

I've seen several families post that they have kids in the same age range going so she can chat with them online and get to know them and have built in friends once she hits the boat!
The kids clubs are great. The Sea Lab your dd will be in is awesome...wall to wall video games! You can set the level of security for her as far as checking in and out of the clubs. (She has to be checked out by you, must page you when she checks out, must check in with you...etc.) So you can control her coming and goings. We put little dollar store magnetic white boards on our state room doors and required dd to post where she was going to be. If she wasn't where she was supposed to be she got in room restriction - we never had a problem. :lovestruc We even had slumber parties from room to room. ;)

Just start asking questions and researching, it'll all be good!

Thanks. And yes, this will be perfect for us. Meg is a social butterfly who makes a new friend anywhere we go, so I am not worried about her in the kids clubs. As a single mom, I DO hope I see her from time to time. LOL. Could get lonely for me! But then again....hmmmmmmm ALONE TIME......in the SUN.....wait.....what is that white thing over there??? ITS MY LOUNGE CHAIR!!!!!

Hi! :wave2:

We aren't booked on this cruise but we're thinking about it. I have a quote from Dreams which is pretty darn good.

You all sound like a great group! (That's another plus for this cruise.)

We will be on the Magic in 20 days and I can't wait! :woohoo:

I'll let you know when we decide. (Not that I expect you all to be waiting with bated breath or anything. )

hey Jonathan, I'm Diane. My daughter will be 15 when we sail. She isn't on the boards yet because she doesn't know about the cruise yet ...shhhhhhh! it's a secret!

I know in our group sailing there will be my dd Kathryn- 15, her bff Victoria - 14, and another bff Kristen - 16, her brother Michael- 15 and some younger kids. There will be plenty of teens to hang with! You will get to know them later this year once we spring the surprise on them.

Tells us about yourself and we can start to fill you in on the kids. :cool1:

Because it is such a long journey for us we always do a few WDW before the cruise. I can't see flying clear across the country and not spending at least 3 days there. Takes us about 8 hours with only one plane change.
