Magic Western Jan. 5—Monday—day at Sea

This was our scheduled day for our 8:15 character breakfast at Parrot Cay. I forced everyone awake and got them dressed, and we headed off to breakfast. The kids were very excited, and as always Disney moved the characters and photographer from table to table very efficiently. We met our new assistant server, Goran, who had been sick the first night. We ate breakfast, watched chip and Dale as they danced around, and had our pictures taken many times. Feeling guilty about not running earlier, I went down and changed into my running gear and headed back up. DS13 headed to the arcade. We limited both boys to $7.50 a day to play, or another way to look at it, a $15 arcade card was suppose to last them 2 days. Otherwise they would have gone through the cards like water. My husband took DS9 to the pool area. Since DS9 quickly tired of the Mickey slide, he was quite content to swim in the goofy pool. Many of the lounge chairs were taken close to the pool, but there were always plenty of chairs and tables available further back. And we found it was easier to watch him swim if we were up on deck 10 looking down into the pool.

There were several others running and walking on deck 4 even at 10:00 so I didn’t feel out of place running that late in the morning. Afterwards I showered and headed off to find my husband and DS9. DS9 had quickly tired of the pool and they were all in the arcade.

My husband heard an announcement about family golf putting at 12:30 so we made plans to do that after lunch. There were several other things happening on the ship, but it was nice to not really rush to do anything.

We went and ate lunch at topsiders, then headed for the family golf putting in Diversions. It consisted of three putting greens and we were divided into men, women and kids categories. The winner was the person who made the most holes in ones. None of us did very well, so after making the rounds, we headed out of there. The kids enjoyed it though, and that’s what counts. We then meandered through the shops again, and decided to head for the matinee performance of the golden Mickey’s. After the show the kids went swimming again and I sat and read while they swam.

Around 4:30 I headed down to start getting ready for formal night before everyone else. The plan was to get to the lobby atrium about 5:15 before the lines for formal pictures got too long. When we got to the lobby at 5:15 there were already several people in line. We chose a background and got in line. We were done about 5:30, and went over and got in line for a picture of us in front of the statue in front of Lumiere’s. The waiters were handing out free cocktails for the adults and what looked like sprites with cherries for the kids. We were done by about 6:05 and headed off to Parrot Cay for dinner. We really enjoyed the meal at Parrot Cay. My DS9 loved the chicken wings. He ordered off the children’s menu most nights, but toward the end of the cruise he would see if there was anything he liked on the adult menu and sometimes ordered an appetizer off one and the main course off the other. It was nice that that option was available. My DS13 actually ordered off the kid’s menu one night cause he was in the mood for macaroni and cheese.

Afterwards, we went back to the room to change and headed off to the theatre to see Freaky Friday. Afterwards, headed back to the room for room service and off to bed.
