1/21/07 Wonder

Since we are going to be all alone on the cruise, here is what we're planning:

Eat at Palo's every night and have Mickey sit at our table.
Use any of the pools whenever we want. I may even try the slide.
Upgrade to the Walt suite at no extra charge - no one else is using it.
Push the magic button to sound the ship's horn.
Forget Nassau and just have the ship go straight to CC and spend a few days there.
Take my teenage DD to the spa and salon.
Invite all the wonderful CM's to take a few days off and let us run the ship (except the captain - sorry, someone needs to make sure we get there and don't damage anything).

Of course, I would be more than happy to give up all of these wonderful plans and share the ship just to have a bunch of DIS friends to cruise with us. :grouphug:
Anybody want to come along?

Hi, mickey minder. Sorry, I haven't been on the CM board for a few weeks.

I came back tonight looking for my thread that I started (& I remember you posted on), but I can't find it. Either I'm missing it, or it disappeared!?! :teleport: It was the one asking about things to do for 20-somethings. This is our 5th DCL, but we've never had a 21 yo before - only club-aged kids.

Who is in your party? In ours is DH, me, DS-21 & DS-16. We can't wait to go! The cruise was originally supposed to be just me & my DH for our anniversary  - we try to alternate our trips w/& w/o kids - but we decided to take them because we had to cancel two other trips this past year with them. We figured we hardly ever see them anyway  except for dinner, so why not take them along?! We'll still have a romantic cruise, anyway. :lovestruc ::yes::

Cool :cool1: Glad to have you on board. I'll be sailing with DH and DD (14). This will be our third cruise. We had to cancel one for January of 2006, so we are willing looking forward to this one. Kids do have a way of finding their own entertainment on the ship. Have you planned any shore excursions? We are considering the deep water fishing at CC. The last two January's it was too cold for us to do a water activities, but those hammocks do look inviting. We probably won't do an organized excusion for Nassau, just look around the straw market and enjoy a partially empty ship. Again, glad we are not alone. Hopefully some others will join us soon. The threads for other cruises around that time have many posts. I even checked the DCL site to make sure they still listed this sailing (yep, we're still there).

Yes, we're thinking about doing the Walking/Kayaking Adv. We always do the Getaway Pkg. (& our sons the Wild Side) & we've done the banana boat & parasailing (LOVED it!). My DH & I always take some time to relax & snorkel at the adult beach before snorkeling at the family beach w/the kids. Deep water fishing sounds good, too. I think you'll enjoy it.

In Nassau, we do something different every time, it seems. Stay on the ship, walk the pier, last time we went to Atlantis - that was a lot of fun, also. We're usually partial to just enjoying the ship when it's in port, but I'm not sure what we'll do this time. One of my sons missed out on Atlantis last time & I'm thinking of doing it again if he wants to try it. I'm not sure that he will, though. I'm waiting to discuss excursions with the kids until a week before booking them, because I don't want them to change their minds back & forth.

I am so looking forward to bringing our oldest son to the Palo's brunch. He loves to 'dine out' & I know he'll thoroughly enjoy Palo's. The last time he did a DCL cruise it was his 18th b'day, but he didn't choose to go to Palo's because he was too busy w/friends he had met in the clubs. (He began the cruise as a 17yo & they allowed him to participate). My DH & I will also be doing Palo's (alone  ) for our anniversary dinner.

Other than that, we're just going to enjoy relaxing on board & getting away. We been having "cruise withdrawl" since we had to cancel those two cruises. :teeth:

Cancelling our cruise was soooo difficult too.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Got our precruise kit today with our dates, shore excursions, etc. That was so cool. In the past, it came with our docs. Now I have months to dream and plan. Did you get yours?

No, we didn't receive anything yet. Are you paid in full though? We're not. Don't know if that makes a difference or not. I'm going to pay the 2nd week of Oct. - just before the 90 days.

I've been getting together as much info. on the excursions as possible - from the DCL website & comments from various threads on the DIS. That's what I'm going to show my family. My DH already thinks we'll enjoy the W/K Adv., but since we're only on CC for one day, we probably won't do much more than that & the other things I mentioned that we always do. :)

No, we aren't paid up. We were just talking about that today. When we get paid in full, we can start booking on October 8th. We are so excited and so in need of a vacation. (I just love that little dancing banana guy).

(Notice I left your banana guy in?!? ;) )

You must be Concierge if you're able to book on 10/8, right? We can't book until 10/23 - 90 days. Maybe that's why you got your pre-cruise kit already.

We had just received our docs for our Oct. cruise when we changed the date. So, until we receive our Jan. ones, I'll just have to drool over that one.

Guess we're still alone, but maybe bumping this up will find some more 1/21 sailers.

I was looking into booking the REAS pkg. & I read here on the DIS that we can also book our excursions at the 105-day mark if we do that. I can't find any info. on it on the DCL website - only here. I filled out all of the paperwork on-line & will probably call DCL to ask about the REAS pkg. soon.

I like the idea of getting the bathrobes as souvenirs for our anniversary cruise. I'm bringing enough of my own decorations & gifts - chocolates - yum! - so the rest of the package doesn't really matter, but I thought the special photo frame & bathrobes would be wonderful to have. We're not really bathrobe wearers - but I'll make an exception. :teeth:

I love logging on here just to see the countdown ticker. :boat: party:

I wonder which robes you get with that package. The suite robes are a thick terry cloth that just wraps you up. The slippers were terry too, but sort of cheap. The robes didn't have any kind of logo or anything on them. I think there was a thread a while back about the REAS robes, don't remember what they said about them. We are still comtemplating our travel plans, when to fly down, where to stay. We love AKL and would like to spend at least one night there. We also really like to go to NASA. There is a cheap airfare to fly into Sanford, but we would have to arrive on Friday and leave on Friday. On our first cruise, we stayed at AKL and took the bus to the port and back to the airport. Last time, we took a limo to a hotel at the port and a shuttle to the port in the morning. Then we took the bus back to the airport after the cruise. Just can't make up our minds, but looking forward to a WONDERful time and some much needed relaxation. Where are you guys from? We will be coming in from West Virginia.

We live a little over an hour from the port, about 1/2 hr. from WDW & about 40-45 min. from MCO. Whenever we go down to Cocoa Beach we time it so that when we're ready to leave we can see the DCL ships go out - usually the Wonder. Sometimes we're on the beach; sometimes on the pier; sometimes at the port. I love to see it going out to sea, but we like to be close enough to hear, "When you wish upon a star".pixiedust: :cloud9:

There's a place in WVA that we love to stop at whenever we drive up north. It's Summersville (I believe). A nice, friendly, very clean little stop on the highway smack in the mountains like I was used to growing up in PA.

We've never stayed at AKL, but love to go down there occasionally & meander around sitting on the porch & rocking, watching the animals, reading all of the things inside the lodge. It's really a nice resort. We go very often during the C-mas season & look at all of the decorations in all of the resorts. Resort-hopping is something My favorite resort to stay at so far is Beach Club. One of these days we'll try out AKL. WL & AKL are the only two left that we haven't stayed at & we're anxious to do so. There's others we've never been to, but not interested in.

Thanks for the heads-up on the bathrobes. I'm going to try & find some info. on it on the boards & also call DCL to ask about the package & specifically the robes. I really only want them if they have a logo on it. As I said, we're not robe-wearers to begin with, so just getting a plain, old robe doesn't make any sense. We love seeing the cruise line logos on our things.

Let me know what you decide as far as accomodations. It's always fun to try new things. I hear the new resort in Port Canaveral is very nice. We did the Radisson a few years ago before moving down here & that was really nice. The room was spacious, but a bit old, but the pool was terrific & they have shuttle service (although we didn't need it). Is that where you stayed, too?

I just got back from Beckley, near Summersville. Be sure to stop at Tamerack and check out the quilts, good food and really cool stuff from the Greenbriar Hotel. I have family in PA, so we go to visit them. I love to stop in Lancaster. I know what you mean about horn. My husband put it on the computer so I can hear it whenever I want - one of my favorite sounds. We so going to have a wonderful trip. We stayed at AKL at Christmas a few years ago. It was wonderful. There was a baby animal born there on Christmas. It was really neat.
