1/20/07 Eastern Roll Call

I am a newbie DCL cruiser and have never participated in any type of vacation bulletin board such as DIS....and I must say, I absolutely love it!...learned so much..my mother has been a travel agent for over 20 years and I taught her a few things about the DCL that she didn't know!

So that said...I am up for a cruise meet...but don't know how or where or what...anybody with experience or suggestions....

Also, lets do a quick recap of who we are, where we are from, ages and cabin # (if you feel comfortable sharing)...I have lost track through all the various posting in this thread!

I am bringing a sweater and hooded sweatshirt...maybe just a sweater and buying a new hooded sweatshirt.....:cool1: I am also packing a windbreaker/rain jacket although the weather will be perfect I'm sure. :woohoo:

What is everyone planning on doing in St. Martin and St. Thomas? We still have not decided which beaches to visit. We are renting a car in St. Martin and debating on whether or not to go to St. John. Anyone have a "must do" from past visits?

I am doing the 12 Metre Regatta sail in St Martin and am very excited about it. I haven't made any excursion plans for St Thomas. Might just shop or possibly go to the beach... although I am also thinking about doing a spa treatment while the ship is docked in St Thomas and playing the rest of the day by ear.... :)

I am curious, too! We have two small children and I am wondering which beaches would work for us. I am hoping we can find a taxi with seatbelts for our car seats or we will just have to head back to the ship or catch the water taxi to a beach (on St. Martin or St. Thomas...can't remember).

yeah i still dont know what to do either.. i actually posted a thread on the Disney Cruise Line Forum asking people's advice with my 2 year old... please give some ideas since we are first time cruisers?!!!

We haven't confirmed our day in St. Martin still thinking about that- maybe just a taxi ride to a beach. But, we booked our excursion in St. Thomas on our own. We are going on a half-day sail (3 1/2 hrs) in St. Thomas which includes snorkeling and beach time. We will be back on the ship in time for lunch.

Anyone know if there are car rental places at the port? We are thinking of renting a car, because we will be there on Thursday. It is much cheaper for us to rent a car for the 2 days than take a shuttle. When I call the car rental places, they don't even seem to know where Port Canaveral is! I thought I heard somewhere there were car rental returns right across from Disney's. Thanks for your help.....need to do my final confirmations. I would do the Alamo rental someone else mentioned, but I can't get a great deal on the car for the week, but could for a couple days.

We are doing one-way rentals ourselves. Budget on Friday night & Avis on the following Saturday at the port. I booked using the discount codes for Costco and got $35-Budget & $42-Avis. Good luck!

We are arriving Thursday also and are renting through Budget, having the cars ( 2 there are 7 of us) for the two days in Disney then driving to the port. We will drop oyur friends off a the port and then return the cars to the rental office. ( It is a few miles down the road and we will get the shuttle back ti the pier) We have a van pickup for our return to the airport after the cruise.

I finally found mousesavers.com and figured out some car rental places. This is our first cruising DCL so I didn't know of these places. Can I ask about how much you are saving with the Costco code? I can get our cost down to about $75 for 2 days with Avis on Thurs - Sat. and then hopfully getting a shuttle from the port to a hotel for Sat. night and renting a car for Sunday back the airport for $50 through Budget. If anyone can help me do better...I would love it!! I hope to book my hotels and car rentals tonight! This was by using the codes at mousesavers.com

Only 14 more days until we leave......we are too excited!!

Doing the document dance. Received them yesterday!!

Some other notes based on previous posts:

St. Martin we're doing an afternoon beach thing, something through Disney (wife signed up for it so I haven't worried about details). St. Thomas we've scheduled a sail / snorkel through New Horizons over to St. John. We were somewhat limited based on son's age; that's why we scheduled New Horizons on our own.

Room 7546
Dad - 35
Mom - 37
Daughter - 5
Son - 2

I'm not sure the exact amount saving, but Costco website cites a 25% savings. Use the costco code and compare the prices, that's the way I do it and go with whomever gives you the best deal.

Hi all!!!
We are getting really psyched here in CT. Have not received docs yet though. Where do all of you that have received them live?
We are spending a few days at Universal and staying at the Hard Rock Hotel before the cruise. I have decided to pack completely seperate bags for that. My boys are counting the minutes, they are so excited to be back on board!! They also would love to email with any other 6, 8 & 9 year old boys before the cruise. If anyone is interested, pm me and we can swap emails.
